Devotion to the Blessed Sacrament is the

queen of all devotions. It is the central

devotion of the Church. All others gather

round it, and group themselves there as

satellites; for others celebrate his myster-

ies; this is himself. It is the universal de-

votion.

A Family Perspective ~ June 7, 2015

One gets the impression there

was always a lot of sharing, dis-

cussion and learning during the many meals

Jesus and the disciples ate together. How does

this compare to the meals in your home? To-

day’s Gospel challenges us to make our meals

more than physical functions and more a time

for sharing.

SUN, SUN, SUN—Here it comes…. Prepare now to ensure that you are safe from the sun’s power. Staying in the shade is one of the best ways to limit your UV exposure. Apply sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher when outdoors. Always read the labels. Adults should apply sunscreen for their children. Reapply as recommend-ed, after swimming, or if you are sweating. UV light is usually the strongest between 10 am and 4 pm. And just because it’s overcast and cloudy-don’t be fooled. Sunlight (and UV rays) can come through clouds. Morning Offering Prayer: O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world. I offer them for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart: the salvation of souls, reparation for sin, and the reunion of all Christians. I offer them for the intentions of our bishops and of all Apostles of Prayer, and in particular for those rec-ommended by our Holy Father this month. The Pope asks us to pray for two intentions each month.

These are the intentions for June:

♦ Immigrants and Refugees ~ That immigrants and ref-ugees may find welcome and respect in the countries to which they come.

♦ Vocations~ That the personal encounter with Jesus may arouse in many young people the desire to offer their own lives in priesthood or consecrated life.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday,

today, and forever.” Heb 13:8

Reflection: The teaching of Christianity on the sancti-ty of life does not flow from some historical circum-stance, political ideology, or changing opinion. It is based on the person of Jesus Christ who does not change. He is the perfect reflection of the Father, the source of all life. That is why the Church holds that its pro-life teaching “is unchanged and unchangea-ble”(The Gospel of Life, 62).

Prayer: Lord Jesus, give us the constancy and fidelity

of perseverance to our pro-life commitment.

MISSION OF THE CHURCH -

Of her very nature, the Church is missionary. This means her members are called by God to bring the Gospel by word and deed to all peoples and to every situation of work, education, culture, and commu-nal life in which human beings find each other. The members of the Church seek to transform society not by power but by persuasion and by example.
