It delivers an online assess- ment protocol, rating system and guidance for green building design, opera- tion and management. It is interactive, flexible and affordable, and provides market recognition of a building’s environmental attributes through third- party verification. The building serves as the academic home to the College as well as a third- space for students – encouraging engagement and team work between stu- dents outside of the classroom. Featured within are 18 dedicated collabora- tion rooms each with a 65" LCD screen with laptop connections, 36 projec- tors, 91 LCD monitors and 50 virtual servers – establishing spaces for vide- oconferencing, distance learning and participation on a global level. LeBow Hall, John has served as Pro-ject Manager and Engineer for several projects for Campbell’s Soup Company, the Pennsylvania Conven-tion Center, and the Reading Terminal Market with specialties in chilled water, process cooling water, heating hot water, steam and laboratory services. John graduated from Drexel University with a BSME. Linda O. Miedwig, PE, LEED AP BD+C Project Manager - Dimitri J. Ververelli, Inc.
Linda Miedwig is responsible for the design of HVAC, piping, lighting, and electrical distribution systems on a wide variety of both new construction and renovation projects, ranging from central steam boiler plants and air-handling systems to tenant fit-out work. Linda’s experience includes work in hospital and health care facilities, schools and universities, food service, commercial, religious, and single and multifam-ily residential projects. Linda has been comprehensively involved in the engineering for Gerri C. LeBow Hall. Presently, amongst other projects, Linda is immersed in the design and documentation of mechani-cal, electrical, plumbing and fire protection modifications in association with the floor-by-floor moderni-zation of the 45-story, 840,000 sq. ft. Independence Blue Cross Headquarters located in Center City Phila-delphia. Linda is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a BSAE. Gregory J. Hughel, PE, LEED AP, CEM Project Manager - Dimitri J. Ververelli, Inc.
Gregory Hughel manages various projects relating to energy management strategies, condition assess-ments, and sustainability for existing buildings. His experience includes evaluations of mechanical, electri-cal, and plumbing systems for federal and commercial facilities throughout the United States. He has also performed energy and water conservation audits and commissioning and retro-commissioning for numer-ous facilities and organizations. Notably, Greg is currently working on the A.J. Drexel Autism Institute. Here, systems are being designed for the best possible spaces for clinical assessment and observation dedi-cated to the study and research on autism public health issues. Greg is a 2006 graduate of Drexel University with a BSME. Robert Piasecki Senior Associate - Voith & Mactavish Architects
Robert Piasecki, AIA, LEED AP earned his Bachelor of Architecture summa cum laude from Drexel Uni-versity and since joining the firm in 2002, has become one of the firm's experts in classroom design, tech-nology integration, and innovative theater design. Robert, a senior associate at VMA, manages many of VMA’s educational projects, included the recently completed LeBow College of Business at Drexel Uni-versity, which includes innovative high tech classrooms. His strong organizational skills are reflected in his management of highly complex projects including the acoustic renovations to Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center and as well as the high rise LeBow College of Business. He also has managed innovated theater projects including the LEED Gold certified, Kurtz Center for the Performing Arts at the William Penn Charter School, the Father Duffy Center for Fine and Performing Arts at Malvern Prep, and is currently working on the new Performing Arts Center at Villanova University.

The Greater Philadelphia Association of Energy Engineers congratulate both Michael O’Leary and Len Pinto on their awards. Their nominations have been submitted for consideration in the Regional AEE Awards program. They will also be recognized in the Philadelphia Business Journal (PBJ) Engineers Week Supplement and in the printed program and PowerPoint at the Delaware Valley Engineers Week events.
The Foundation of the Association of Energy Engineers Scholarship Fund promotes
continuing education of qualified professionals in energy engineering and energy management. The Foun-
dation receives funding from voluntary Chapter and personal contributions. This year, the Greater Phila-
delphia Chapter will donate two $1,000 scholarships to local students, both undergraduate and masters
programs, who apply for the award. The association works with the Foundation to facilitate the applica-
tion process. The application period opens January 1, 2015. All applications must be received by the local
chapter Scholarship Chair, Randy Haines, by April 1, 2015. Applications are then reviewed and final rec-
ommendations are submitted to the Scholarship Director at national by May 1, 2015. Award winners are
notified by the Foundation over the summer.

EDUCATION INITIATIVE: VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
STUDENT - ENERGY PROFESSIONAL MEETING LIAISON
In our effort to attract and grow our student participation and membership, we are launching an Education Ini-tiative to connect students interested in attending GPAEE meetings with a Member Liaison. GPAEE repre-sentatives met with Drexel University staff earlier this year to explore opportunities to engage with Drexel stu-dents about energy, efficiency and climate topics. The conversation was well received by University representa-tives and resulted in a next step of encouraging students to attend the January and February GPAEE meet-ings. The Member Liaison initiative was then created to help these students have a positive first experience with our group and offer an opportunity to connect one on one with energy professionals. Member Liaisons would be responsible for:
1. Contacting the student in advance of the meeting to introduce themselves & get some understanding of what the student would like to accomplish by attending a GPAEE meeting
2. Meeting with the student at the designated meeting site and helping the student get accustomed to the meeting environment
3. Introducing student to at least 2 other members; preference to members that meet student's interests or goals for attending the meeting (if known)
4. Get any feedback from student on his/her meeting experience & on whether goal(s) were met.
We need your help! GPAEE is looking for 10-20 volunteers planning to attend the February meeting to be Member Liaisons.

ENERGY DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES $55 MILLION TO ADVANCE FUEL-EFFICIENT VEHICLES The Energy Department on January 22 announced that it will make more than $55 million available to develop and deploy cutting-edge vehicle technologies that strengthen the clean energy economy. These technologies will play a key role in increasing fuel efficiency and reducing petroleum consump-tion, and support the Energy Department’s EV Everywhere Grand Challenge to make plug-in electric vehicles as affordable to own and operate as today's gasoline-powered vehicles by 2022. PEW NAMES PENNSYLVANIA A 'RISING CLEAN ENERGY LEADER' Pennsylvania has developed a fast-growing clean energy economy, attracting billions in investment dollars for solar, wind, hydropower and other renewable energy technologies, according to a recent report by the Pew Charitable Trusts. Pew found that between 2009 and 2013, Pennsylvania added nearly 1.4 gigawatts of clean energy ca-pacity and attracted $3.5 billion in private investment. In 2013, Pennsylvania ranked sixth nationally in attracting private investment in clean energy at $841 million. (more)
FALLING OIL PRICES BRING SLOWDOWN IN SHALE DRILLING The slowdown in domestic oil drilling is spilling over into the Marcellus Shale natural-gas region. Several large drilling companies have announced plans to reduce 2015 capital-spending plans in Appa-lachia in response to low energy prices. Some producers and service companies have already an-nounced layoffs. "There's a tightening of capital," said David J. Spigelmyer, president of the Marcellus Shale Coalition, the industry trade group. "Cap-ex [capital expenditure] programs have declined fairly significantly here in the first quarter. (more) GOV.-ELECT WOLF MAKES SLEW OF SELECTIONS FOR CABINET-LEVEL POSITIONS Gov.-elect Tom Wolf continued to reward experience today by selecting veterans of Pennsylvania state government to head up state agencies that oversee environmental protection, parks and forests, agriculture, budget and administration. Mr. Wolf today announced the nomination of John Quigley to be secretary of the Department of En-vironmental Protection. Mr. Quigley was conservation and natural resources secretary under Gov.
