SRC FundraiserLast Friday was Do It For Dolly Day. Thank you everyone for dressing in blue and
bringing in a gold coin donation. We raised $94.00!! This
money will go to the Dolly’s Dream Foundation and will be
used for programs to continue to raise awareness about the
issue of bullying, provide support and deliver educational
resources for parents whose kids may be bullied or bullying.
Over 8 million Australians have heard Dolly’s story and that

Term 2 Week 3 Thursday 16 May 2019
RoboticsRobotics got off to a great start this week.
Students were engaged in a number of
different activities involving building
robots, problem solving, coding and designing. Robotics
groups will be operating for the remainder of this term.
Soccer SkillsAll students in the school took part in our first soccer skills
session today as part of our Sporting Schools program.
The students were so enthusiastic and engaged in the skill
and games activities. We are very lucky to have Emma
join us again to support the students in developing their
running, kicking, passing and dribbling. There were also
some great opportunities for lots of teamwork. The
school soccer squad has commenced training for their
first knockout game which will be played this term.
Lake AinsworthPlans are currently being made for our Senior Excursion to
Lake Ainsworth in Term 4. This was previously mentioned
in the Class Newsletter in Term 1.
All students in Years 3-6 have the opportunity to attend
this 3-day 2-night excursion. The staff from the Sport and
Recreation Centre organise all accommodation, activities
and meals. All students in the senior class have been
provided with an information note today outlining all the
details planned to this point in time. Please return the
permission note with the non-refundable deposit by the
end of Week 5 (31 May).
We are hoping that the whole class can join us on what is
a very exciting and enjoyable excursion. With the number
of girls in the class it has been decided that we will take a
parent (mum) with us to support the
group. If you are interested please let
Mr Curtin know.
If you have any queries or concerns
please don’t hesitate to call the school.
P&C MeetingOur next P&C meeting will be held on Monday 20 May
at 5pm in the Library. The change of day and time may
suit other parents who might now be able to attend.
All parents and carers are welcome to come along and
discuss fundraising ideas and school programs.
Scholastic Book FairA huge thank you to all students and families who
supported our Book Fair. We set ourselves a very high
goal of 100 books to sell and with every 15 sold, a $10 gift
voucher was given away. We were amazed at how close
to our goal we came with 95 books being sold!! (Voucher
winners: Trae, Clay, Paige, Josie, Halle and Kobie). Well
done everyone. A very big thank you also to Sunshine

Sugar who donated $100 and this was used to purchase 7
books for our Library.
Including this donation we sold a total of $1494.00 worth of
books and accessories, which allowed us to choose books
to the total of $448.00 for our school. An incredible effort
for our small school! Altogether we received 39 new books
for our Library. Students have already started borrowing
these new books and over the next couple of weeks, we
will have them all covered and available from the Library.
Again we thank you for your support.
Miss Beatie and Mrs Skaines.
National Simultaneous StorytimeNational Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is an annual
campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians
to read and enjoy books. Every year a picture book, written
and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is read
simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare
centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places
around the country. This year the book is “Alpacas with
Maracas” written and
illustrated by Matt Cosgrove.
We will be joining in NSS
next Wednesday 22 May.
Miss Beattie.
Woolworths Earn & LearnWoolworths has launched their Earn & Learn program
again this year. If you shop at Woolworths between 1 May
and 26 June you can earn 1 sticker for every $10 you spend.
Our school will be collecting these stickers which we can
then use to purchase new school equipment: things
such as sporting goods, classroom supplies and teaching
aids. You can bring your stickers into the school office or
look for the collection boxes with our school name on it
outside Woolworths supermarkets. Keep an eye out for
double sticker promotions from
Woolworths as the more stickers
we collect the more supplies we
receive. Thank you for supporting
our school.
