Statistics and Probability Recording in a Table This is an activity that requires you to collect data and record your results using tally marks. We are going to collect the data from 20 coin tosses. A coin always has two faces; heads and tails. In Australia, the ‘heads’ side has an image of the Queen’s head. ‘Tails’ is the reverse side with the number value. When you toss a coin it can land two ways: heads up or tails up. You can place the coin on your thumb and gently flick it up and let it land on a flat surface, or you can place the coin into a small cup and shake it around before you release it onto a flat surface. Toss a coin 20 times and record your data in a table. There is an example table below. Have a go at drawing your own data table on a piece of paper. Remember to use a ruler and a title at the top. Answer the following questions below your data table: 1. Which side of the coin landed up the most times? 2. How many times did the coin land tails-up? 3. If you repeat the 20 coin tosses again, will you get the same results? Why or why not? 4. If a friend completes their 20 coin tosses at the same time as you, would you get the same results? Why or why not?

Fitness Own choice - you may like to go for a walk, ride your bike or other wheeled toy, play with a bat and ball (or maybe even totem tennis if you have it) or other sporting equipment or dance around to your favourite music. Try to keep moving to get your heart rate up and get a bit sweaty!

wriggle and repeat this exercise 3 to 5 times, or until you feel relaxed and ready to stop

- Move your body into the ‘relaxation’ position. Close your eyes and take slow and deep breaths. Remain here for as long as you need to feel calm and relaxed
