Staff Professional Development

Effective Feedback

Feedback is one of the most powerful influences on learning and achievement – if you get it right. John

Hattie’s Visible Learning research concluded that effective feedback, combined with effective instruction,

improves the rate of learning by a factor of 2. But first, educators must know the difference between

effective and ineffective feedback. On Wednesday afternoon the staff engaged in a keynote where

Professor John Hattie explained how to distinguish between the two and provided answers to some of the

most crucial questions about effective feedback.

The staff engaged in breakout rooms with colleagues from schools within our network for this powerful

learning experience. I would like to thank Eastwood Public School for the invitation to this event.

Dine Scan Win

‘Dine, Scan, Win’ campaign is designed to encourage people to dine and shop at local restaurants, cafes

and takeaway shops. There are over 60 local businesses participating in the campaign along the

Parramatta Light Rail alignment. Each week one lucky customer has the chance to win a $100 voucher

from a participating business. All you need to do is scan the QR code at a participating business. The

more times you scan the more chances you have to win. You can find out more by downloading the

‘Activate Parramatta’ app from the Apple Store or Google Play.

Shop Scan Win

The diverse range of businesses along the future Parramatta Light Rail alignment are showcased in a

‘shop local’ campaign by Transport for NSW , ‘Shop. Scan. Win.’

With over twenty businesses from Carlingford to Camellia featured as part of the campaign, all listed on

the ‘Activate Parramatta’ app that can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play. The

campaign is giving one lucky shopper a chance to win a $100 voucher from a participating shop each

week. The more times you scan the more chance you have to win.
