Preparing for Next Sunday The 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

The first reading from Isaiah speaks of God’s love for the people of Israel. The second reading from Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians speaks of the special gifts, or charisms, which are given to the baptized for the sake of the Church. The Gospel recounts the first miracle of Jesus at the wedding feast in Cana.

Liturgical Minister’s Meeting There will be a meeting for all Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and Altar Servers on Monday, January 11 and Tuesday, January 12 to answer all questions regarding the new organization of roles and duties for volunteer ministers within the liturgy department. Please make plans to attend one of the two meetings. Reunión de Ministros de Liturgia Tendremos una reunión para todos los lectores, ministros de la Eucaristía y Monaguillos el día Lunes 11 de Enero y el Martes 12 de Enero en donde responderemos todas las preguntas con respecto a la nueva organización de las funciones y deberes de los ministros voluntarios dentro del departamento de liturgia. Por favor haga sus planes para asistir a alguna de las dos reuniones. Muchas gracias a todos por su servicio durante el año 2015, y que el Señor renueve su deseo de continuar sirviéndole como ministro activo de la Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo.

OLMC School News Steps for Students

Steps for Students is an annual Archdiocesan-wide event where all school and parish communities can come together as one to support Catholic education. The goal of Steps for Students is to raise awareness of the importance of a Catholic education and provide much needed resources for our Catholic Schools. This day of family fun includes a 5k USA Track and Field Association sanctioned race, the David K. Guite Memorial 1k Family Fun Run, Catholic School Parade and Post Race Party. Registrants have the opportunity to join a school team. The sponsorships for the race and any registration fees or pledges support the Archdiocesan Tuition Assistance Program. The Archdiocesan Tuition Assistance Program is a commitment that the Archdiocese makes to keep Catholic schools accessible, available and affordable to all families. This commitment is the hallmark of our faith and service in regards to the educational mission of the Church. With 61 schools, serving over 18,000 students, the network of Catholic Schools is the largest private school system in the state of Texas. This year, Steps for Students will be on Saturday, February 20, 2016. Please help support Catholic Education and help support our school and our students by sponsoring a student and donating to Steps for Students!

Noticias de la Escuela OLMC Pasos por los Estudiantes

Pasos por los estudiantes es un evento anual de toda la Arquidiócesis en la cual todas las escuelas y comunidades parroquiales pueden juntarse para apoyar la educación católica.

El objetivo de pasos por los estudiantes es crear conciencia de la importancia de una educación católica de calidad y proporcionar los recursos necesarios para nuestras escuelas católicas. Este día de diversión familiar incluye una pista americana y una carrera de Campo de 5 kilómetros, la divertida carrera familiar de 1

kilómetro en memoria de David K. Guite, el desfile de la escuela católica y la fiesta después de la carrera. Los que deseen participar tienen la oportunidad de integrar alguno de los equipos de la escuela. Los patrocinios para la carrera y las el valor de los registros sirven para apoyar el Programa de Asistencia de Matrícula que tiene la Arquidiócesis. El Programa de Asistencia de Matrícula de la Arquidiócesis es un compromiso que la misma Arquidiócesis hace para hacer que las escuelas católicas sean accesibles, disponibles y asequibles para todas las familias. Este compromiso es el sello de nuestra fe y de servicio en lo que respecta a la misión educativa de la Iglesia. Con 61 escuelas, que atienden a más de 18.000 estudiantes, la red de Escuelas Católicas es el sistema de escuelas privadas más grande que existe en el estado de Texas. Spaghetti Fundraisers! Back by popular demand, the annual spaghetti fundraiser will be held on Sunday, January 31, from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM in the Parish Hall. Pre-sale tickets are $7 from the Confirmation II candidates and $8 at the door.

El Ministerio Juvenil Recargado dará su inicio el Sábado 23 de Enero a las 6:00 PM en el Salón Parroquial. Se invita a asistir a todos los adolescentes que

están entre los grados 9 a 12. Vamos a comenzar con Adoración y Alabanza, seguido de juegos (incluyendo un torneo de videojuegos), Alimentos y premios! Este es el primero de muchos eventos que hemos planeado para la Pastoral Juvenil de este año. Vengan a pasar un rato muy agradable!

Y o u t h M i n i s t r y Refueled will kick-off on Saturday January 23rd at 6:00 PM in the Parish Hall. All teens in grades 9 - 12 are invited to attend. We will begin with Praise & Worship, followed by Games (including a video game tournament), Food and Prizes! This is the first of many events we have planned for Youth Ministry this year. Come out and have a great time!
