Dear Families,

Quarter 1 is coming to end and the school year started off on a very positive note. With the

incorporation of Habits of Mind and Growth Mindset, students are demonstrating increased

ownership towards their learning and highly engaged classrooms! Please continue to sup-

port your child at home with these skills by asking them to share how they have used habits

of mind and a growth mindset during their school day and how they can use it at home.

October 11th at 5:00, we will have our quarterly School Accountability Meeting, following

the PTA meeting. We invite all families to attend. We will discuss data results for PARCC

and CMAS from the previous year, as well as, action steps we are implementing to help all

our students grow academically.

We have several celebrations to share:

*Dual Immersion Academy obtained the fastest growing D51 elementary school in PARCC

Literacy 4th and 5th grade with a growth percentile of 66. D51 percentile was 42 and the

state was 50.

*Dual Immersion Academy obtained high growth in PARCC Math for 4th and 5th grade with

a growth percentile of 60. D51 percentile was 49 and the state was 50.

For more information about data results, please join us for the School Accountability

meeting on Oct. 11 at 5:00. We want to congratulate the students and staff for their fo-

cused instruction and hard work to grow academically in both Math and Literacy!

Next week is fall break, so make sure your child spends time reading and practicing math

daily. Writing in a journal about their experiences or what they read will keep them on track

with their learning.

Finally, we want to thank our PTA for the wonderful Carnival this month! It was an enjoya-

ble evening with food, interactive booths and socializing. Activities like Carnival create a

sense of community, while celebrating culture and diversity. We appreciate DIA’s PTA and

all they do for our school community!

We look forward to seeing all our families for Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 26-

27. We hope you have a safe and fun break!

My name is Mayola Cisneros.

I will be doing my yearlong

internship here at DIA, as

part of the counseling de-

partment. This means that

along with MR. Fish (the cur-

rent counselor) I will have

contact with your student on

a regular basis. My goal dur-

students in a school setting,

while ensuring that students

have the tools necessary to

be successful in class.

Please DO NOT send your child to school with any

medications, this includes cough drops. Medication

may be given at school with a permission slip filled

out and signed by the PARENT/GUARDIAN and

PHYSICIAN (if it’s prescribed). The medication

needs to be in it’s original package or bottle.

PTA News:

We enjoyed another successful Carnival. Thank you to all of our

volunteers and all who participated for the hard work and effort

that you put into making the carnival such a great, fun and suc-

cessful event!

Tardy and attendance policies

The reasons for excusing or not excusing a

tardy or late arrival and excused or unex-

cused absences are as follows:

1. Temporary Illness or injury.

2. Absence approved by the school adminis-

trator.

3. Absence due to physical, mental, emo-

tional disability.

4. THINGS BEYOND OUR CONTROL.

Please understand that as soon as the bells

ring, classes get started. If your student is

consistently tardy they are missing valuable

learning time.

Teacher Appreciation week is October

24th-27th. During the week we encourage

families to send snacks, desserts or small

gifts to their teachers in appreciation for all

their hard work!

Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support Dual Immersion Academy. Come in to the Chipotle at 2504 Highway 6 & 50 Suite 300 in Grand Junction on Wednesday, October 12th between 5:00pm and 9:00pm. Make sure that 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Dual Immersion Acad-emy. Thank you!

Book fair will be the week of Nov 14-18. We will be selling gift certificates during conferences for the fair. The certificates can be used to purchase books at the fair. This can be a time

saver for you and your child. They also can be purchased from you to give to your teachers as a thank you for doing all they can for our students. What a great Holiday gift.

Queridas familias,

El 1er cuatrimestre está llegando a su fin y el año escolar comenzó con una nota muy positi-

va. Con la incorporación de hábitos de la mente y la mentalidad de crecimiento, los estu-

diantes están demostrando una mayor conexión hacia su aprendizaje y están altamente

comprometidos en sus salones. Por favor, siga apoyando a su hijo en casa con estas habili-

dades, pidiéndoles que compartan cómo han utilizado los hábitos de la mente y una mentali-

dad de crecimiento durante el día escolar y cómo pueden usarlo en casa.

El 11 de octubre a las 5:00pm, vamos a tener nuestra reunión cuatrimestral de Rendición de

Cuentas, después de la reunión de PTA. Invitamos a todas las familias a asistir. Vamos a

discutir los resultados de datos de PARCC y CMAS del año anterior, así como los pasos

que estamos desarrollando para ayudar a todos nuestros estudiantes a crecer académica-

mente.

Tenemos varias celebraciones para compartir:

• La escuela DIA obtuvo el crecimiento mas rápido de la escuela primaria del D51 de 4to y

5to grado en PARCC Literatura con un porcentaje de crecimiento de 66. El porcentaje del

D51 fue 42 y el del estado fue 50.

• La escuela DIA obtuvo un alto crecimiento en PARCC matemáticas para 4to y 5to grado

con un porcentaje de crecimiento de 60. El porcentaje del D51 fue de 49 y del estado fue

¡Queremos felicitar a los estudiantes y al personal por su enfoque instruccional y su duro

La próxima semana será vacaciones de otoño, así que asegúrese de que su hijo pase tiem-

po leyendo y practicando matemáticas diariamente. Escribir en un diario sobre sus experien-

cias o sobre lo que leen los mantendrá al día con su aprendizaje.

Por último, ¡queremos dar las gracias a nuestro PTA por el maravilloso Carnaval de este

mes! Fue una noche agradable con comida, puestos interactivos y socialización. Las activi-

dades como el Carnaval crean un sentido de comunidad, mientras se celebra la cultura y la

diversidad. Apreciamos al PTA de la escuela DIA y todo lo que hacen por nuestra comuni-

dad escolar!

Esperamos ver a todas nuestras familias durante las conferencias de padres y maestros

que serán el 26 y 27 de octubre. ¡Que tenga unas vacaciones seguras y divertidas!

Estimado padre o tutor, Mi nombre es Mayola Cisneros. Voy a hacer mi pasantía durante todo el año aquí en DIA. Voy a estar trabajando como parte del Departamento de consejería. LA OFICINA DE SALUD

Por favor NO ENVIE ningún tipo de medicamento

a la escuela. Esto incluye pastillas para la garganta o

la tos. La planilla para permitir el uso de medica-

mentos están disponibles en la oficina. Se pueden

administrar medicinas en la escuela con permiso

firmado por el PADRE/TUTOR legal y de el doc-

tor si es medicina recetada. La medicina tiene que estar en su

botella original.

Póliza de tardanza y de asistencia

Las razones para excusar o no excusar una

llegada tarde y ausencias justificadas o

injustificadas son las siguientes:

1. Enfermedad o herida temporal.

2. Ausencia aprobada por el administrador

de la escuela.

3. Ausencia por discapacidad mental,

emocional o física.

4. Situaciones MÁS ALLÁ DE NUESTRO

La semana de agradecimiento a los maestros será

desde el 24 al 27 de Octubre. ¡Durante esta sema-

como agradecimiento por todo su esfuerzo!

Haga de la cena un acto desinteresado uniéndose a no-sotros para una recaudación de fondos en apoyo a DIA. Vaya a Chipotle localizado en 2504 Highway 6 y 50 Suite 300 en Grand Junction el miércoles 12 de Octu-bre entre las 5:00 y las 9:00pm. La Feria del libro será la semana del 14-18 de Noviembre. Vamos a hacer la venta de certificados de regalo de la feria del libro durante las conferencias. Los certificados se pueden utilizar para la compra de libros en la

feria. Esto puede ser un ahorro de tiempo para usted y su hijo. Tam-bién los puede comprar para dárselo a sus profesores como agra-

decimiento por todo lo que hacen por nuestros estudiantes. ¡Que gran regalo para los días festivos!
