Tai Chi plus creative christian spirituality "Adding fun, fellowship and fitness to faith"

Tai Chi Class Changes and Cost Update Our master teacher, Terry Payton, is dealing with

health issues that prevent him from teaching our

class right now. Bob and Fleeta Holcomb and

Robert Bumann are continuing to lead the class

and welcome new members. Because we are not

paying master instructor Terry to teach the class

in its entirety right now, we are able to reduce the

cost of the class to $10 per person, per month.

In addition to promoting balance, flexibility and

wellness, we are exploring ways to integrate tai

chi movement with our Christian faith and medita-

tion.

We meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00-7:00

in the gym. This class is open to the community,

so feel free to invite friends and neighbors.

If you have questions, contact Fleeta or Bob Hol-

comb (466-3356 or [email protected])

Preschool Registration

school year that begins in September. Please con-

tact Angie Canavan at 466-9697 for more infor-

mation or to schedule a tour. Our best advertise-

ment is word of mouth! Please tell your friends &

neighbors with 3 & 4 year olds about our morning

school-year program.

Spring Flea Market

Are you itching to start spring cleaning the

basement, closets, garage? The Youth want to

support the Sister Church delegation team with

their Spring Flea Market. They will help the

Sister Church Delegation Team organize the

flea market donation booth this year in order in

help fund their trip to El Salvador. Quality

items will be gratefully accepted shortly before

the flea market in May. If you have large

items, or items you need to donate sooner than

May, contact Fleeta Holcomb.

COMMUNITY GARDEN UPDATE

Have you noticed all the activity in Eden

Community Gardens?

Hurray! The snow has melted and more work on

the garden is happening now!

Stakes have been place for the raised beds so

that recently acquired aged manure can be

placed in those areas. Thanks Barry Karalfa,

Tom Latimer, Mahlon Dirks, Mike Donavan,

Bob Ratts, and David Yarbrough. Also thanks to

Janet Walker and Steve and Melissa Flaherty for

the composted and well-aged manure! Special

appreciation is also extended to Richard Parrish,

Isaiah’s Dad and Troop 218 Scoutmaster, for his

skills with the Bobcat on loan for the scout pro-

ject for placing and leveling needed soil in land-

scaping areas around our garden.

Thirty-eight high quality cedar raised beds have

been built by Isaiah Parrish and his crew, and

more supplies have been ordered to complete

the additional beds. Way to go Isaiah!

Beautiful topsoil has been shared due to the ex-

cavation on the Boy Scout shed project. David

says it is even better soil than the existing gar-

den soil!

The Seed Starting Class went well with eleven

attending. Thanks David for planning this

and fellow Master Gardener Andy Smith for his

helpful presentation.

Thanks to Pam Murphy the attractive signs that

she designed have been ordered !

Our next garden meeting is Thursday, March 22,

stay tuned for the date of our April meeting.

Shalom Ministries Shalom, based in the former Central UMC, is a mission to

the downtown homeless and poor. Shalom operates on the

proverbial shoestring, serving 4 breakfasts and 2 dinners a

week to over 200 at most meals. (Feeding the hungry is not

all it does.) While Shalom gets staples and produce mainly

from Second Harvest, it must pinch its pennies to pay for the

following needed items:

*white and brown sugar

*catsup

*pancake syrup

*BBQ sauce

*cooking oil

*margarine

*black pepper

*garlic powder

*coffee creamer

*laundry detergent

*dish soap

*bleach

If you could help with any of these items, the 6 of us from

Covenant who volunteer at the Monday dinners will be

overjoyed to fetch them down to Shalom!

Thank You! Doris Dyer

April Coffee Group A group of women meet monthly for coffee and conversa-tion and invite all ladies to come join them for fellowship. This is a great opportunity for new people, or for those who’ve been around a while, to get to know each other bet-ter. Everyone is welcome! Join us on Monday April 16 at 9:00am at Verge Coffee Co. (9315 N. Nevada in the Service Station.)

If you would like to be added to our Email re-minder list, please send a note to Betsy Hart-man at [email protected]
