“Those who are deemed worthy
to attain to the coming age
and to the resurrection of the dead
neither marry nor are given in marriage.
They can no longer die, for they are like angels;
and they are the children of God
because they are the ones who will rise.”

Archdiocese for the
Military Services USA
This weekend, November 9/10, our parish will take up a
collection for the Archdiocese for the Military Services
(AMS). Established by Saint John Paul II in 1985, the
AMS is responsible for providing the full range of pasto-
ral ministries available in other U.S. dioceses to those
serving in the United States Armed Services, including
those stationed at Fort Knox. It provides pastoral care for
more than 1.8 million men, women, and children. The
Archdiocese for the Military Services receives no funding
from the government or the military, has no parishes for a
weekly in-pew collection, and must rely principally on
private donations to provide many programs and services.
Thank you for your generosity.

Marriage Moments
“We are ready to die…” (2 Maccabees 7:2) As certain as death is, are we ever really
ready to die? This may not be a happy con-versation to have with one’s beloved, but
periodically we should share what would
help each of us be ready to die.
Parenting Pointers
In these days of email, smart phones, and other elec-tronic media, snail mail can be a lost art. Consider sending your child a card stating something you ap-preciate about them. Let them check the mailbox.
Suggest they pass this gesture on to another.
Please Pray for the Sick
Please contact the STA parish office at 270-692-3019 to place a person on the prayer list or request for a
person to continue on the prayer list. Out of respect for each person, please ask the individual prior to
placing them on our prayer list. For those who suffer from illness of any sort and for their families, we
pray they may experience the healing power of Jesus. Please contact the Parish Office 270-692-3019 to
place a person on the prayer list or request for a person to continue on prayer list.
Please call the Parish Office (270-692-3019, ext. 6) to request for someone to added to this prayer list. Thanks!

This Advent Fr. Robert will be giving a special talk on
the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Why do we offer the
mass? What exactly are we doing at mass? What is God
doing at mass?
The talk will coincide with the regular Monday evening
Eucharistic adoration at Holy Name of Mary. It will begin on Monday, December 2, 6:00 - 7:30 pm,
at Holy Name of Mary Church. After the talk, we will pray before our Lord in the Blessed Sacra-
ment. Come and start off this Advent with prayer, and bring your family and friends!
Each year the Salvation Army embarks on a fundraising effort to sustain charitable giv-
ing through out the year. We accomplish this task by ringing our red bells at the local
Kroger and Walmart stores. Our resources are distributed to those in need through Com-
munity Action. Bell ringing assistance is needed on Friday & Saturday, December 20 &
21, 10:00 am - 8:00 pm at Lebanon Kroger. Each shift is 1 to 2 hours. All are welcome
and the only requirement is a “Thank You” to all donors. For more information or to reg-
ister, please call John Gordon, Marion County Salvation Army Chair, at 502-507-4509.
St. Augustine and Holy Name of Mary Parishes will be participating in the Salvation Army “Angel Tree” program, sponsored by Marion County Community Action, this year.
The Angel tree will be put out in Church the weekend of November 23/24.
Parishioners are asked to choose an Angel from the Tree, sign your name beside the number of your Angel in the book below the tree, and follow the directions on the back of the information tag of the An-gel you have chosen.
Families are asked to please turn all gifts into the Parish Office on or before noon, Friday, December 6, as gifts will be given out the follow-ing week.
WISDOM KEEPERS Pot-Luck Lunch and a Music
The WISDOM KEEPERS will meet on Tuesday, November 12, from 12:00-2:00
PM, at St. Augustine Parish Hall. We will have fried chicken with a Pot-Luck
Lunch. Bring your favorite dish. All senior citizens from Holy Name of Mary
and St. Augustine are invited to attend. We will be entertained by Deacon Joe’s
Band – The Honeysuckle String Band. Come join us!
Christmas Mass Intentions
On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the Masses at
our clustered parishes will be celebrated as collective/
multiple intentions for living and deceased. If you
should desire to
have a loved one’s
name included,
please turn the re-
quest into the re-
spective Parish Of-
fice, by Thursday,
December 12.
Christmas Flowers
Our churches are always decorated with
beautiful flowers and decorations during the
Christmas season, but nice poinsettias and
other plants can be costly. If you would like
to make an offering for flowers in memory of a loved one
at Holy Name of Mary Church there is a sign-up sheet and
envelopes on the vestibule table in Church. If you would
like to make an offering for flowers in memory of a loved
one at St. Augustine Church, please send intentions to the
Parish Office. Flower offerings are $10.00 and need to
be turned in by Thursday, December 12.
Thirty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
“Now he is not the God of the dead but of the living; for all live to him.”
Luke 20:38
A wise grandmother once told her grandchildren before she died, “Don’t worry about flowers for me once I’m gone.
Give your flowers to the living.” Her instruction is the very definition of stewardship - giving your flowers to the living.

Where the Spirit Thrives!
Dear Parish Families, We have had a great October with four full weeks of instruction after returning from Fall Break. Our students have been working hard in the classroom dedicated to higher level learning and mastery of content. We are blessed to have such a fine group of teachers and instructional assistants who show diligence, persistence and patience as they work each day with our children. Our school is bustling with energy and excitement as we prepare for our Turkey Supper which will be held Saturday, November 9. We hope to see all of you there to show support for our students, faculty and staff. I know many of you will work, donate or do other things to make this an-nual event a special time. This month’s focus picture is on our first grade class. We are so proud of the progress they have shown and their bright and bubbly demeanor every day. It is a joy to spend time with them. May God bless each of you.
Sincerely, Mr. Terrell
