Rejoice and leap for joy on that day! Behold, your reward will be great in heaven. For their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way. But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. Woe to you who are filled now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will grieve and weep. Woe to you when all speak well of you, for their ancestors treated the false prophets in this way.”

Jesus came down with the twelve and stood on a stretch of level ground

with a great crowd of his disciples and a large number of the people from all Judea

and Jerusalem and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon.

And raising his eyes toward his disciples he said:

“Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours.

Blessed are you who are now hungry, for you will be satisfied.

Blessed are you who are now weeping, for you will laugh.

Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude and insult you,

and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man.

Woe to you when all speak well of you,

for their ancestors treated the false prophets in this way.”

Marriage Moments

Feb 10: "Love is not inflated, it is

not rude, it does not seek its own

interests..." (1 Cor. 13:5) Which

of these negative qualities is your

spouse best at avoiding?

Feb 17: "Love is not quick-

tempered, it does not brood over

injury, but rejoices with the

truth..." (1 Cor. 13:6) Which of

these qualities of love best de-

scribes your spouse.

Parenting Pointers Feb 10: February is Black History Month. No matter what our skin color,

religion, or economic status we need to learn to get along with people

who are different from us. As a family, learn about a race different

from your own this month by reading, a movie, or personal contact. It

might be a challenge to get out of your bubble whether it be black,

white, or something in between. Do it anyway.

Feb 17: "Blessed are you who are poor...hungry...weeping...when people

hate you." (Luke 6:20-22) Can you as a family identify with being poor,

hungry, crying, or hated? Certainly as a parent you've at least had

times when your child complained about you. Dig deep and ponder

how to recognize this as a blessing...in time.

Join your St. Augustine and Holy Name of Mary family and friends for the “Christ is the Light” Mission

on Sunday – Tuesday, March 3-5, 2019. Gary Montgomery, a member of St. Bernadette Parish in

Louisville, will be our presenter. He was a television sportscaster for over 30 years and today

shares the “Good News” and Christian motivation in Catholic Churches.

Gary has shared the Christ is the Light message at missions, confirmation re-

treats, men’s and women’s retreats, and church events throughout Kentucky and

beyond! He was a catechist at his home parish for over 25 years where he worked

with 8th graders and helped them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. The

goal is the same during the 3-night Mission. The church will be filled with fun, story

-telling, scripture, laughter and spiritual motivation.

The Mission theme is “Christ is the Light” – Sunday, March 3, the focus is “Find the Light,”

Monday, March 4, the focus is “Become the Light,” and Tuesday, March 5, the focus is “Give the

Light Away.” It’s a short course in our Catholic Faith!

The Mission begins each night at 7:00 pm. We look forward to seeing you at the Mission. Bring

a friend!

“Blessed are those who trust in the Lord; the Lord will be their trust.”

Jeremiah 17:7

We know that we are called to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ. If we trust in the Lord, how can we not

be good stewards of all that has been entrusted to us in this life? St. Francis of Assisi instructed that, “For it is

in giving, that we receive” which includes receiving abundant.
