There is a baptism

Pre-register: All students who will participate in the RE pro-
gram for the 2019-2020 school year should have pre-

day, August 8.

dents should gather in the Church before 5:45 PM. Please be

tact her at 270-692-3019, ext. 8.

teria from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Tuition for the year is due

for more than one child for grades K-8.
COOL Kids Club
(Children of our Lord)
Children ages 4-8 years old can attend a class
during the Mass. They exit before the 1st
Reading. The priest blesses and dismisses them
to their class. In this class they practice pray-
ers, sing songs and listen to the liturgy of word
on their level. They return at the preparation
of gifts. This program is highly encouraged.
Parents might have to accompany them the 1st
time or until they are comfortable in their en-
vironment. (This program will start mid Sep-
tember- April. HNM Sunday Mass 10 AM/STA
Sunday Mass 11 AM. Watch for updates in the
bulletin).
Marriage Moments If your employment is home based or you are a
homemaker, you may have to create your own
"marriage friendly" work policies. Agree about
when you will take work phone calls or when it is
time to stop WORK and relax together. Of course,
if you have young children, you don't fully control
your time. You're always on call. Have the spouse
who works "outside the home" tell you.
Parenting Pointers "Do not disdain the discipline of the
Lord." (Hebrews 12:5) Parental discipline
(or even self-discipline) is often unwelcome.
Talk with your child about the pros and cons
of not always taking the easy, pleasant solu-
tion to a problem. Share a time when you
had to discipline yourself.
This weekend we will take up the Peter’s
Pence Collection, which provides Pope
Francis with the funds he needs to carry out
his charitable works around the world.
Annual Founder’s Day Dinner
The Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary invites everyone to their
Annual Founder’s Day Dinner, Sunday, September 8, 12:00 noon – 3:00
p.m., at St. Augustine Parish Center. The dinner will include: Fried
Chicken, Country Ham, Green Beans, Mac & Cheese, Corn, Dessert and
a drink. Cost/Donation: Adults $10 and Children $8. For more infor-
mation or to purchase a ticket, please contact Monica Hill at 270-823-
5376, Emma Edelen at 270-321-0988 or Lavonne Downs at 270-321-
4158.

Religious Education As usual, when the time
gets closer for another
year of Religious Edu-
cation, we need some
help. We need several
adults to act as teachers
or aides K-1, 4-5-6. We
also would really like
some high school students to act as aides for the
lower grades, 6:45 to 8:00 PM, most Wednes-
days. If you love our young ones, you already
know much of what you need to know, the rest
we can teach you. Do not wait, call 270-402-
1177 right now and leave a volunteer message.
Youth Program Saint Augustine / Holy Name of Mary High
School Youth Program is in need of several as-
sistants aged 21 and up to work with our stu-
dents. This can be a very rewarding experience.
The group meets from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on
Sunday evenings. Please call Mike at 270-402-
1177 for more information.
Please Pray for the Sick
Please contact the STA parish office at 270-692-3019 to place a person on the prayer list or request for a person
to continue on the prayer list. Out of respect for each person, please ask the individual prior to placing them on
our prayer list. For those who suffer from illness of any sort and for their families, we pray they may experience
the healing power of Jesus. Please contact the Parish Office 270-692-3019 to place a person on the prayer list
or request for a person to continue on prayer list.
New list as of August 18, please call the Parish Office (270-692-3019, ext. 6)
to request for someone to added to this prayer list. Thanks!

Our weekly Bible Study continues
at St. Augustine and Holy Name of
Mary on Thursdays, from 10:00
a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in St. Au-
gustine’s Parish Center. There is
no material to purchase. Just bring
your Bible if you have one. We
have extra bibles available. These
reflective scripture sessions and
shared prayer are a great way to do
something positive for our troubled
world.
Each week will be an individual
session so if you cannot attend eve-
ry week, you are still welcome any
week that you can attend. Come
and bring a friend! Let us listen to
God’s word and reflect upon his
message together! If you have any
questions, please call Kathy Shan-
non at the parish offices 692-9009 EX.4. All are welcome.
Confirmation Candidates will begin
final preparation for the Sacrament with a meet-
ing of Candidates and Parents today, Sunday,
August 18, 4-5PM in the Saint Augustine Par-
ish Hall. In addition, those who will be partici-
pating in the Confirmation Program are invited
to take part in our regular youth gatherings from
5-8 PM on Sunday evenings. You may begin
attending the Sunday meetings now. Call Mike
Luescher at 270-692-3019 ext. 5 for further in-
formation.
The National Catholic Youth Confer-ence, NCYC, is a three-day event held every two years. Roughly 25,000 High School students will gather in Indianapolis for: music, prayer, workshops, liturgy, Recon-ciliation and adoration, Mass, danc-ing and performances. We have a limited number of slots available so, search at YouTube; NCYC.info to see what this is all about, then register fast. Contact Mike Luescher at 270-692-3019 ext. 5 for more infor-mation or to register. Final signup, Tuesday, August 13.
Since its founding the , the Knights of Columbus has been involved in evangelization. In 1948,
the Knights started the Catholic Information Service (CIS) to provide low-cost Catholic publica-
tions to the general public, and to parishes, schools, retreat houses, military installations, Correc-
tional Institutions, and many others. For over 60 years, CIS has printed and distributed millions
of booklets to the thousands of people free for their benefit. The Local Council of the Knights of
Columbus (Council # 1264) has purchased the material located in the vestibule of the Church
(middle isle) for anyone wishing to help us Build the Domestic Church. Please take a booklet.
Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
“. . . while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the leader and perfecter of faith. For the sake of the joy that lay be-
fore him, he endured the cross, despising its shame, and has taken his seat at the right of the throne of God.’”
Hebrews 12:2
Setting priorities is the key to balancing everyday demands made on us with the limited amounts of time, talent,
and treasure we possess. When we accept Jesus as our priority, we do not squander our gifts.
Advertisers of the Week . . . Did you know?
Our bulletin is provided to our parish by Diocesan at NO COST! The advertisers that you see on
the back of the bulletin purchase ads that cover the cost of our bulletin. We
are very grateful to all of them. We en-

preciate their support.
