The apostles said to the Lord,
“increase our faith.”
Jesus taught them about the power of faith
even the size of a mustard seed,
the smallest of seeds.
God places the seed of faith
inside us so that it may grow,
bearing the fruit of conversion
with the evidence of humble and loving service.

All Souls Day
Multiple Intentions
Each year many of us like to remember our loved ones
with a Mass in their memory on All Souls Day. We
include as many as possible in our multiple/collective
Mass intentions on that day.
It is time now to turn in your loved ones’ names and
the Mass stipends if you want to have them remem-
bered on this special day. All intentions will need to
be in to your respective parish office by Tuesday, Oc-
tober 22.
Adult Education Classes Offered
St. Augustine and Holy Name of Mary are offering some Adult Education classes this fall in St. Augustine Parish Hall. The classes will

are October 7, 21, November 4. You can attend one class or all of them. Bibles are provided or you can bring your own.
Three additional Adult Classes are being offered and will be on Monday evenings, but at a different time. These classes will be present-
ed by Art Turner, Director of the Faith Formation Archdiocesan Office, and the classes will be from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm. On October 14,
the topic is: “Finding Bible and Religious Themes in Pop Culture.” On October 28, the topic is: “In the Beginning ... What the Church
teaches about the Big Bang Theory.” On November 11, the topic is: “Mary the Mother of God and first disciple…What else do we be-
lieve about Mary?” (Pre-registration is required for these three classes.)
All Adults are welcome. If you wish to attend the three Bible Study classes there is no registration. If you wish to attend any one or all
three of the topic classes you need to register in advance so we have enough material prepared. Please call 270-692-9009 Ex 4 to regis-

October is Respect Life Month
Each October, the Catholic Church in
the United States celebrates Respect
Life Month to proclaim the immeas-
urable value of every person from
conception to natural death.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops assists parishes, schools and other
Catholic ministries by creating resources to help people “understand, value
and become engaged with supporting the God-given dignity of every person
– which naturally leads to protecting the gift of every person’s life” through
its Respect Life Program.
Chairman of the USCCB Committee, Archbishop Joseph Naumann, encour-
ages us by proclaiming, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank you
for all you do to build a culture of life on a daily basis. Your efforts on be-
half of the unborn, the dying, the elderly, the imprisoned, the poor and so
many others have a profound impact, both now and in the life to come.”
This year’s theme, Christ Our Hope: In Every Season of Life, is particularly
suited for the times in which we live. The attacks against human life seem to
grow more numerous and callous by the day. Despite these challenges, we
know that Christ has conquered sin and death once and for all. Through our
Christian hope in the Resurrection, we are given the grace to persevere in
faith. Our sacrifices on behalf of the Gospel of Life can contribute to the
redemption of this current culture of death.
During the 2019-2020 Respect Life Program cycle, we also celebrate the 25th
anniversary of the papal encyclical Evangelium vitae (The Gospel of Life),
written by St. John Paul II. The Church’s teaching on the value and inviola-
bility of every human life remains an indispensable source of truth for all
people. As Evangelium vitae highlights, “together we may offer this world of
ours new signs of hope, and work to ensure that justice and solidarity will
increase and that a new culture of human life will be affirmed, for the build-
ing of an authentic civilization of truth and love” (EV 6).”

Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
“So you too, when you do all things which are commanded you, say,
‘We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.’” Luke 17:10
The message is clear. A steward is concerned about making a difference, not about having other people know
that he or she is making a difference.
Advertisers of the Week . . . Did you know?
Our bulletin is provided to our parish by Diocesan at NO COST! The advertisers that
you see on the back of the bulletin purchase ads
that cover the cost of our bulletin. We are very
grateful to all of them. We encourage you to
look at the many advertisers in our bulletin. Pat-
ronize their businesses and let them know you
appreciate their support.

We congratulate Mrs. Monica Hill, who received the Roncalli Award on Tuesday, September 24. This award was named after Pope John XXIII (Cardinal Roncalli) who called for the Second Vatican Coun-cil in 1958. By naming this award after him we recognize catechists who have been ignited by the spirit of Vatican II to spread the faith through catechesis. A recipient of this award has made a notable difference through this ministry, demonstrates qualities of a catechist, has served for more than five years and is currently active in catechetical ministry. Monica has volunteered for over 20 years as a Religious Education Catechist for St. Augustine. She has shared her faith with many a young person always leading by example. Mrs. Hill also works in St. Augustine School as the Pre School Director and Extended School Services Director. Monica completed the Archdiocesan Discipleship Program ten years ago and continues to learn about her faith. Thank you Monica for your dedicated ministry to our parish!
Archdiocese Discipleship Certification
The Archdiocese of Louisville offers an extensive study in Catechetical Courses and Spiritual Develop-
ment through a certificate program called Discipleship. This two year program of 27 classes and two
retreats helps form persons of faith more fully in their spiritual life and Catholic beliefs and practices.
The Archdiocesan Faith Formation Celebration honored these eleven individuals who completed this
course of study this past year. They are from Holy Name of Mary: Ginger Brunecz, Kim Spalding,
Kathy Tucker, Andrea Willett; and from St. Augustine: Louise Deep, Lynn Fenwick, Gina Garrett,
Stephanie Gootee, Paula Newby, Jami Sandusky, and Paul Terrell.
We give thanks and praise for these wonderful persons of faith! Please congratulate them if you see
them!
