HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL MOTHERS Prayer for Mother’s Day Loving Mother of the Redeemer, gate of heaven, star of the sea, assist your people who have fallen, as we strive to rise again. To the wonderment of nature you bore your Creator, yet remained a virgin after as before. You who received Gabriel’s joyful greeting, have pity on us poor sinners. **We thank God for the blessings of all our mothers, living and deceased! DIRECTIVES OF BISHOP MEDLEY • ALL PUBLIC Masses are suspended. ST JOHN BLOOD DRIVE St. John Blood Drive is scheduled next Sunday, May 17th at the St. John Knights of Columbus Hall from 8 am—-12 noon. Younger donors needed: Sign-up on line go to redcrossblood.org and enter stjohnpaducah to schedule an appointment or call Paul at 270.556.3678 or 270.554.1695 and I will help you schedule. ST VINCENT DEPAUL SVdP's Helpline will be open starting May 12th and we'll be open our regular hours Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 10:00 am--1:00 pm. We have put in place all the recommendations by the Governor to keep everyone safe and therefore will only be allowing a few people in at a time. At this time, the store will be open by May 20th, but we're waiting to hear more from the Governor on when retain stores can open. We are in need of volunteers. If, you hear of anyone needing assistance, please send them our way. Thank you! God bless!!! THE MONTH OF MAY May is the "month which the piety of the faithful has especially dedicated to Our Blessed Lady," and it is the occasion for a "moving tribute of faith and love which Catholics in every part of the world [pay] to the Queen of Heaven. During this month Christians, both in church and in the privacy of the home, offer up to Mary from their hearts an especially fervent and loving homage of prayer and venera-tion.In this month, too, the benefits of God's mercy come down to us from her throne in greater abundance" (Paul VI: Encyclical on the Month of May , no. 1). — The pious practice of honoring Mary during the month of May has been especial-ly recommended by the Popes. Paul VI wrote a short encyclical in 1965 using the Month of Mary devotion as a means of obtaining prayers for peace. In May of 2002 Pope John Paul II said, "Today we begin the month dedicated to Our Lady a favorite of popular devotion. In accord with a long-standing tradition of devotion, parishes and families continue to make the month of May a 'Marian' month, cele-brating it with many devout prayers and devotions. — The following practices which are recommended by the Church are offered as suggestions for honoring Our Lady during Her month: The Regina Coeli , The Rosary, Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Consecration and Entrustment to Mary, The Brown Scapular and Medals. — Since public Masses more than likely will be suspended until at least May 15th, be sure to have a May Altar in your home this Month of May showing your love to our Blessed Mother.

LIVE STREAM † MASSES/During the No Public Mass period, our Sunday Mass will be live streamed at 8:30 am on the St John the Evangelist Paducah Facebook page. Weekday Masses will be live stream: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday at 7:30 am. † CONFESSION in the carport of the Rectory Tuesday 6:00-7:00 pm, Saturday 4:00-5:00 pm, Sunday 9:30-10:00 am. ST JOHN FACEBOOK PAGE St. John now has an official Facebook Page. On the page, only the administrators can post announcements and videos. We will keep the “Group Page” for discussion and sharing of information only by members of the group. The page can be found at St. John the Evangelist Paducah. ONLINE GIVING AT ST JOHN’S Some of you saw in the bulletin a couple of weeks ago that we started another option for you to use in your Sunday Offering. We have 3 options now: 1. The weekly offering during the Offertory at Mass. Which I think is the most im-portant way of giving to the Church because it is another way for you to show active participation in the Holy Mass. ALSO.....this is a way that you can teach your chil-dren of the spiritual value of giving your Tithe to the Church. If our youth never see Mom or Dad putting their envelope in the Sunday Collection, how are they going to know that it is important spiritually to give back to God from what He has given to us? Remember we teach mostly by our example and actions. Of course I realize that in our modern cyber world, it is much easier and more relia-ble to give electronically for some people. 2. ACH GIVING This option allows us to debit your checking or savings account each month for the amount of your contribution. Many of you are already using this method of giving to God and St. John's. You can choose to have your account debited monthly or bi-weekly. You may stop this option at any time by written notice to the Parish Of-fice. The form for ACH giving can be picked up here at the Office OR it can be downloaded at our parish website (stjohnspaducah.com) after you click on the "Giving Options Tab" at the top or scroll down a bit on the front page. 3. ONLINE GIVING This third option is available on our parish website (see address above) under the "Giving Options Tab" at the top or scroll down a bit on the front page. This SE-CURE online option allows you to make a contribution just one time or you can set it to give weekly or monthly from your checking, savings (if you have anymore savings now), or credit card. Many people these days use this type of giving for their steward-ship. You go online set up your account and your good to go. NOW....All of you know what I think about Church contributions by using a credit card. DO NOT go in debt in giving to the Church. If you pay your credit care off each month, this can be a good way to give. If you don't pay your credit card bill off each month, don't use it for this. Now I will say, if you do give by credit card, there is a fee that we will have to pay. You will be asked if you want to pay the fee or just take it out of your Church offering. You decide on that, but it will help St. John's if you would be able to pay the fee. Thank you all for your faith, commitment and support here at St. John's. I have told you many times from the altar that I am blessed in that the Bishop has assigned me to St. John's. Let us keep each other in our prayers. Fr. Bruce Fogle

STEWARDSHIP

(Time, Talent, Treasure)“ Let all Your works give You thanks, O’ Lord, and let Your

faithful ones bless You,” says the Psalmist. Stewardship is this “attitude of gratitude” of the many gifts God has given us.

Amen.
