Happenings in the Library— Kim Kaye
Here is a view of our Dia de los Muertos, (Day of the Dead) and All Souls display. Dia de los
Muertos begins on November 1st and ends on November 2nd. It is a two day holiday honor-
ing the spirits of the deceased. Thanks to all who sent in names of their loved ones to remem-
ber. Also, many thanks to Mrs. Sterling for helping put our window together.
Congratulations to Mrs. Hrosik's 5th grade class for
earning the most genre badges overall. They earned
over 60 badges in Mystery, Historical Fiction, Poetry,
Biography, Informational and Fantasy. Ask your child
what genres they read.
October was "Put your Nose in a Book" month. Here's a look at some of our friends who
were caught with their nose in a book.

Q! Perfect Attendance
National Junior Honor Society has been busy. At our September 16th meeting officers were elected for
the 2015-16 school year. President-Lilly O'Shea, Vice President-Eileen Uthuppan, Treasurer-Evan Hart-
man, Secretary-Amol Verma, Service Hours Coordinator-Elias Sewell. On September 19th we worked
at the Opportunity Enterprises Packathon helping to pack gift bags for the runners who took part in the
Chicago Marathon. October 2nd found NJHS members at Oktoberfest face painting, selling candy bars,
and scaring those on the hayrides. At out October 28th meeting, we put on old clothes, picked up gar-
dening tools and worked together to beautify our school grounds by pulling weeds, trimming back bush-
es and cleaning up trash. A special thanks to Elena Thompson's mom for joining us that rainy afternoon.
We are looking forward to many more adventures in the coming months.
Veterans Day Project
Also, please help support the Wounded Warrior Project next Wednesday, November 11th. Join forces
by wearing a red, white, or blue shirt (with uniform bottoms) for $1. All of the money raised will help
the Wounded Warrior Project.
Congrats! Q1 100% Homework!

Did you know that over 1,600,000,000 people around the world live in poverty? Nearly 15% of the people who
live right here in Porter County don't have enough to eat every day.
As we begin to plan our Thanksgiving gatherings, EDGE will take a close look at physical and spiritual hunger
and what the Church calls us to do about it during this very special EDGE night. All 6th-8th graders of the par-
ish are invited.
November 14, 2015. 6:30-8:30. Old Saint Paul School. RSVP is appreciated.

Congratulations to the 7th grade girls’ volleyball team for advancing to the
CYO Championship game this Saturday. They breezed by their arch rivals
from St. Thomas More in two sets 25-15, and 25-9.
Maddie Rowley led all servers with eight points. Ally Drenth closed out set
one with the last two serves, while Bella Jardenil nailed a jump serve to close
out set two.
The girls would love to pack The Diggz* on Saturday with lots of fans to
drown out the St. John the Baptist fans. As soon as the time for game is an-
nounced we will pass it on to our loyal supporters. Thank you to those who
packed the gym this past weekend! Let’s go Panthers!
*The Diggz is located at 4590 West 61st Avenue
Volley for the Cure Update— Coach Lindsey
The total dollar amount was incorrect in last week’s LINK. The total should have been
$3856.85. Also in thanking the many people who supported us, I forgot to personally thank
our beloved teachers & staff for purchasing the pink t-shirts and wearing them on our $1 Pink
t-shirt day. Also thank you to those teachers and staff members that baked and donated deli-
cious goodies for our bake sale. Finally thank you to these wonderful women that gave up
their Friday evening to attend our volleyball game and not only support our players but the
three women we honored. Again thank you to everyone who contributed, I can’t wait to plan
for next year’s Volley for the Cure.
