Meet Bob Porter We Sizzled! Bob’s first thoughts of the Fountains are the desirable quarters and great meals. His previous experience at another facility is no comparison to the Fountains. He says, “Nothing else compares.” Growing up in Warren, Ohio, Bob had a lovely up- bringing with devoted parents. He took great pride in his hobby of making and flying model airplanes, as well as enjoying his photography. Also, he didn’t get to participate in the sports he would have desired because he was busy with a newspaper route. After high achool graduation, he attended Wittenberg University, and at 21 years old, Bob was quickly drafted into the Army. His first assignment was to Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana; then in 1942 to Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. In 1944, he went to Blytheville, Arkansas Army Air Base, (1944-1948) where he was Base Communications Officer. In 1948, he was assigned to Hawaii, ranked as an Army Signal Corp Officer with the Army Air Force. His photography showed his experiences and creativity. During Bob’s last year in the military service, he was a Commanding Officer put in charge of training young men in the art of photography and how to excel in their skills. Later, in the civilian world, Bob became very successful at Motorist Mutual Insurance Company. Eventually he met the woman of his dreams, over romantic lunches for two and private talks. e part- time model, Jean, would become his future wife, and the two remained married over 60 years. Jean and Bob had two children, Biff and Kay, and later grandchildren. Bob wishes to watch his children and grandchildren prosper and maintain his healthy life. He loves the people here at the Fountains and especially the employees with their personal attention that they give. He appreciates it so. We are thankful to have Bob as a part of the Fountains’ family. anks to the support of so many residents, families, friends and community members, the Fountains of Franklin was awarded 1st Place in the Senior Living Category of the 2015 Sizzle Awards!! is award only confirms what we already know about this special place that so many call “home.” For many reasons, the Fountains is a blessed place, and we are so thankful for the opportunity to shine in our community. e next time you are at the Fountains, be sure and view the award located in our front lobby. 300 Celebration Circle Franklin, TN 37067 Phone: 615.567.3717 www.fountainssrliving.com APRIL 2015 Want to receive The Splash via email? Meet Bob Porter

We Sizzled!

Also, he didn’t get to participate in the sports he would have desired because he

was busy with a newspaper route. The part- time model, Jean, would become his future wife, and the two remained married over 60 years.

Thanks to the support of so many residents, families, friends and community members, the Fountains of Franklin was awarded 1st Place in the Senior Living Category of the 2015 Sizzle Awards!! This award only confirms what we already know about this special place that so many call “home.” For many reasons, the Fountains is a blessed place, and we are so thankful for the opportunity to shine in our community. Meet Julia GaychukJulia learned that the Fountains of Franklin was hiring via Paul Berger, one of our employees and a friend of hers. She soon became a part of our staff family and how fortunate we are to have her! Julia was born in Moscow, Russia and raised in Vinnytsia, Ukraine. In 1999, when she was in elementary school, she and her family moved to Franklin, Tennessee. Later she attended Franklin High School and is now attending MTSU. In May, she will graduate with a Bachelors degree in Family and Consumer Studies with a concentration on Child Development and Family Studies with a minor in Russian Studies. Being fluent in the language, she thought it would be an easy minor, but she says, “Boy, was I wrong.”

She has a huge family that lives across the globe but most everyone migrated to the middle Tennessee area after moving from Ukraine. Actually, Franklin has a large Russian-Ukrainain population and 75% are related to her, like Dennis Khadartsev, a 2nd shift Resident Assistant, who is her second cousin! Imagine that. When not working, Julia says she enjoys napping, eating, and catching up on her favorite TV shows (she is a die-hard fan of certain TV shows and has a huge collection). Perhaps she will be sharing those soon with her new nephew who will be arriving at the end of the summer. She says she can hardly wait to spoil him and just plain squeeze him! Julia says she loves her job here at the Fountains and states that even if she is having a bad day or week, the residents always put her in a better mood. And, Julia, you put them in a great mood, too. Thank you for all you do for the Fountains.
