St. John Vianney School News

If you haven’t already done so, please return the signature page from the back of the handbook/calendar as well as the Emergency Contact Form. It is imperative that we have correct phone numbers where you can be reached in the event of an emergency.

Please plan to join us for our Back to School Night on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Come and meet your child’s teacher at 7 PM. The Home School Association business meeting will take place at 8 PM. Immediately following the HSA Meeting, there will be a meeting for eighth grade parents. Students will attend Mass on Friday, Sept. 15, at 9:30 AM for the opening of the new school year.

Eighth Grade Activity Parents are sponsoring a Fall Mum Sale. Orders are due back by Tuesday, September 19. Delivery will be on October 3.

Pre-School News

Our first Home School Association Meeting will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Come meet your child’s teacher in the Pre-School at 7 PM, and then come to the main school cafeteria at 8 PM for the HSA Meeting to hear about all the exciting activities planned for the children this year.

The Saint Vincent de Paul Poor Box, in August, contained $1,275.00. Thank you for your generosity and ongoing financial support.

New Parish Library Now Open !

Come and visit our new Parish Library located in the large conference room in the church gathering area. It contains a large variety of religious books for you to take home and read. These books are designed to assist our need to continue learning about our faith and how to live it more fully. You can find books on a variety of topics like scripture, prayer, spirituality, church history, saints, forgiveness, social justice, healing, grieving, and many others. So, stop by, browse the library, and take home a book.

• Phase 1: General books in the open bookcases are ready to be borrowed

• Phase 2: Special books in glass door bookcase is still under construction.

You can also search the library contents from our parish website under “Our Parish”

YOUTH GROUP Calling All Teens! There is a welcome gathering for new and returning 8th thru 12thgrade students this Sunday, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Trailer D. Come meet new friends, play games, laugh a lot, eat pizza, and grab a schedule for upcoming events. This is a great time to check out all of the happy and friendly people at the youth group!! Fun Fact! Unlike any other organization, youth group is not a long term commitment. Because we are here to help, you can come to as many or as few meetings, events, and service projects as your schedule allows. Our goal is to help teens navigate the often difficult and challenging years of high school in a friendly and supportive environment. Come check us out, you’ll be glad you did, and bring a friend!!

PRO LIFE The first meeting will be held on Tues. Sept. 26. Maternity donations can be dropped in the crib in the foyer of the church. Diapers size 3 thru 6 are always welcome. Although we accept gently used items, they should be clean and ready to use. If it’s suitable for your grandchild, we can use it. If you have larger items, please call Carolyn at 732-381-0499 to arrange for pickup. Thank you for your continued generosity.

The next ‘Dinner and a Movie’ R.T.L. fundraiser will be taking place on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Woodbridge Columbian Club (130 Main Street, Woodbridge, NJ 07095)

The movie will be ‘Hidden Figures’. Doors open at 5:00 PM, Movie begins at 6:30 PM.

Suggested donations are: $15/adults $10/movie only, $5/kids , FREE for kids under 8.

The net proceed from this event will be donated to Good News Crisis Pregnancy Center (Perth Amboy, NJ) to help further their pro-life mission. Please pass this information on to your friends!

The St. James Street Fair will be taking place that day on Main Street in Woodbridge so traffic may be a little heavy in the area due to Main Street being closed until about 5:30PM.

A JOURNEY THROUGH GRIEF The 8 week session will start on Wednesday, September 27 at 7:00 pm in the Parish Center. Anyone who has suffered a

loss and is in the healing process is welcome.
