Every teacher, coach, and volunteer who works with children in the Archdiocese’s parishes and schools must have a background check before he or she is permitted to
work in any school or parish related job or activity that involves contact with children. But what about the children who attend non-Catholic private or public schools? Talk with school ad-ministrators and find out what steps they take to protect chil-dren from harm. Suggest that they review other abuse preven-tion programs to ensure that their policies and practices are up to date. And demand that all employees and volunteers who work in the school be properly screened, including background checks, before they are allowed to be near your children .

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS In Service To One. In Service To All.
Father Michael J. McGivney Council 15034 A First Degree Exemplification was held on August 30, 2014 at Saint Martha School. Congratulations to our five New Brother Knights who took their First Degree and joined the Order - Fa-ther Ramon Orozco, Henry Loyola, Teofilo Naces, Eduardo Prieto and Bienvenido Bellon. Worthy Disrict Deputy # 104 Ric Flores & Supreme Rep. Chris Martinez were present during the exemplification. Thank you to Father Joseph Adhunga for attending the Orientation and who did the opening prayer. He is a 4th degree member from Springfield, Virginia and to be trans-ferred to our Council this September. The following day, Council No. 15034 conducted a Membership Drive on August 31, 2014, Sunday at Saint Martha Patio during the Saint Mar-tha Ministry Fair. Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practi-cal Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practical Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church.
