Washburn Weekly Update March 2 nd to 6 th , 2020 Professor Edward Torres Headmaster Washburn School Director Washburn English Institute Greetings: 1) Congratulations to the Yerenaix 2020 Graduation Class and their Class Sponsor, Ms. Andrealiz Lopez for such a memorable and beautiful Ring Ceremony celebrated on Thursday, February 27, at the Artiban Salon in Coto Laurel. Thank you to the parents, grandparents, relatives, and friends who joined the staff and administration for this important event. 2) Congratulations to our February Students of the Month. Thank you again to the parents and relatives who attended the ceremony on Friday, February 28. 3) Wednesday, March 4, Deadline for Permission Slip to be submitted to the homeroom teacher for Kite Day. 4) Friday, March 6, Kite Day. Location: At the Coto Laurel Park. This activity begins at 1 pm and ends at 3 pm. Lunch will be served before dismissal time. Dismissal will be between 11:45 and 12 noon. Students are required to wear the physical education t-shirts and short pants down to the knees. Parents must accompany their child to the park. (5) Very Important: Please review the information pertaining to Preventions during the Influenza Season and the Influenza A H1N1 with your family members. The information is the handbook and it was also sent through One Click. We recommend that that you take your child to the pediatrician if he/she has symptoms of a cold immediately so that he/she can get proper treatment. If child is positive to Influenza, please inform at the main office. Prevention is a shared responsibility of all. (6) Official Classroom Visitations will commence this week for teacher observation and evaluation. Pensamiento de la semana: “Mi fórmula para vivir es bastante simple. Me levanto por la mañana, me voy a la cama en la noche y en medio, doy lo mejor de mí mismo”.-Gary Grant. Felicitamos a la clase Yerenaix 2020 por el recibimiento de su sortija, símbolo del final de una etapa. Ya están próximos a completar sus años de escuela superior y se les reconocerán sus éxitos en la graduación que se llevará a cabo el 29 de mayo de 2020. Felicidades!!! Esta semana se llevará a cabo la actividad del Kite Day en el Parque de Cotto Laurel. Esta actividad será el próximo viernes, 6 de marzo de 2020 a partir de la 1:00 p.m. El horario será de 30 minutos cada clase y el periodo de almuerzo será de 10:40-11:10 a.m. para los estudiantes de Pre-K a 3ro y de 11:10-11:45 a.m. para los estudiantes de 4to a 6to grado. La salida será de 11:45 a 12:00 m.d. El vestuario para esa actividad será la camisa de Educación Física y un pantalón corto a la rodilla. Deberán estar con sus hijos en el parque a la 1:00 p.m. Ningún estudiante podrá estar sin la compañía de sus padres. El relevo debe ser entregado al maestro de salón hogar en o antes del miércoles, 4 de marzo de 2020. La actividad culminará a las 3:00 p.m. Recuerden repasar con sus hijos:

Magaly Jiménez Peña Trabajadora Social Saludos padres, madres y estudiantes: En las pasadas dos semanas hemos estado activos educando a la comunidad escolar sobre el cuidado para prevenir el contagio con el virus de la Influenza. Lamentablemente, continúan registrándose casos positivos al virus que requieren de nuestra acción inmediata. Todos los salones de clase han sido DESINFECTADOS durante el fin de semana. Igualmente, las unidades de aire acondicionado están siendo limpiadas nuevamente. Cada salón de clase tiene disponible “hand sanitizer" para el uso común.

Se nos ha informado de casos positivo a Influenza, incluso en estudiantes vacunados en los pasados meses por lo que entendemos que esta puede ser una cepa diferente a las que previene la vacuna. Le pedimos encarecidamente que si su hijo presenta síntomas de Influenza, no lo envíe al colegio. Los síntomas más comunes que han presentado los estudiantes contagiados son: dolor de cabeza, dolor de garganta, vómitos y fiebre. Estudiantes que presenten síntomas serán enviados devuelta al hogar hasta presentar evidencia médica que le permita regresar a clases. Se exhorta a que oriente a su hijo sobre mantener sus manos limpias lavándolas por 20 segundos con agua y jabón y/o utilizando el “hand sanitizer". Juntos podemos prevenir una epidemia.
