NICE TO MEET YouLET’S CONNECTWWW.FACEBOOK.COM/BRAVOCC
Hi, I am Libby SpearsI watched the OSCARS along with a
gabillion other people and here are my take aways as a professional speaker
and trainer. -------------------------------------
ENJOY!
1The Perfect MixEllen is a great host because she is the perfect mix of planned and spontaneous. She responds and reacts to the audience which gets them actively involved. Pizza anyone?
2Tell StoriesNo one cares who Jared Leto’s agent or fashion stylist is. But we are compelled by his story of how his single mom encouraged him to chase his dreams. #bestspeechofthenight
You may not be singing or dancing (or wearing a silly hat) but presentations can and should have an element of FUN!
Have Fun

4Verbal GymnasticsEveryone is talking about Robert Lopez and his wife, Kristen Anderson Lopez this morning after their win for their best original song from Frozen. They were smart, funny, original and clever with their use of language.
Unlike 100% of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speeches, I FELT Lupita’s true and genuine gratitude. Her humility was transparent and endearing.
Be Gracious

6 The Power of ThreeHow do you not love this guy BTW? --Who do you look up to?--What do you look forward to?--What are you chasing?
7Say something that mattersIt takes a great deal of courage to stand up in front of an audience and say something that needs to be said. Cate did not mince words. She had a bigger message to share. Bravo Cate!

1. If you are introducing someone, meet them.
2. Ask them their name.
3. Commit their name to memory.
4. If the name is hard to pronounce, practice until perfect.
5. If you screw it up, apologize profusely afterward.
6. Prepare for the #$%^ storm that awaits you on all social media outlets for the next 48 hour news cycle.
7. Go home and cry yourself to sleep.

Like it or not, this is the world we live in. Your presentation can have a life BEYOND the event itself with a little multi-media creative thinking.

Mr. McQueen, you are brilliant. No one can deny that. But Public Speaking is not reading a piece of paper. I know you don’t want to forget anyone but c’mon--the biggest award of the night and your acceptance was a snooze fest.
Don’t read to me

*BonusDon’t show your crazy. No really, this bonus tip is: if it’s not your moment to shine, sit down, be quiet and let the person taking the stage have their moment. It’s not about you right now.
the big so what...Even Hollywood Super Stars who get paid millions of dollars to make a movie struggle to find just the right words when
they take the stage and all eyes are on them. And they are PROFESSIONALS!
