The CFF program for all our children will start next Sunday… Let's reflect upon our relationship to God through His Word that we hear every Sunday or perhaps we are meditating upon it during the week, in preparation for the Mass. God's Word is "like a lamp shining in a dark place until the Day dawns and the light of the morning star shines in your hearts" (2Peter:1-19) and Saint Peter adds: "you will do well to pay attention to it". It may guide us if we allow it. It gives us straight direction of Faith, bright horizon of Hope and joy of Love. Saint Jerome said that "if we pray we talk to God, if we read God's Word - God talks to us". So, take advantage! The same Saint Jerome used to say that "ignorance of the God's Word is ignorance of Jesus Christ". This is a strong expression. But literally, Jesus Himself stated to the Jews: "You study the Scriptures believing that in them you have eternal life, now these same Scriptures testify to Me (John:5:39). Meditating upon Sunday's Readings in God's Word, we are approaching closely to Jesus who reveals to us His Father; who is the God of Mercy. The Divine Mercy is our source of Life.

El programa de CFF para todos nuestros niños se iniciará en el domingo próximo…. Para nosotros, reflexionemos sobre la Palabra de Dios que escuchamos todos los domingos o tal vez meditemos sobre ella dentro de semana en preparación de la Palabra a la Santa Misa. La Palabra de Dios es "como una antorcha que alumbra en lugar oscuro hasta que el día esclarezca y el la luz de la estrella de la mañana brilla en vuestros corazones" (2 Pedro: 1-19) y San Pedro añade:" que prestemos buena atención a ella”. La pueda guiarnos si la permitamos. Nos da la dirección recta de la Fe, el horizonte brillante de la Esperanza y la alegría del Amor. Dice San Jerónimo que "si oramos hablamos con Dios, si leemos la Palabra de Dios - Dios habla con nosotros". Por lo tanto, aproveche! El mismo San Jerónimo decía que "la ignorancia de la Palabra de Dios es la ignorancia de Jesucristo". Esta es una expresión fuerte. Pero literalmente, Jesús mismo dijo a los judíos: "Ustedes estudian las Escrituras, creyendo que en ellas tenéis la vida eterna, ahora estas las mismas Escrituras dan testimonio de Mí (Juan 5:39). Meditando sobre las lecturas del domingo de la Palabra de Dios nos acercamos íntimamente a Jesús que nos revela a Su Padre; quién es el Dios de la Misericordia. La Misericordia Divina es nuestra fuente de Vida.

The 64th Annual Chicken Dinner Festival at St. Therese's in Isleton brought us renewal of fellowship of long-time friends, support from "Knights of Columbus" of the Council of St. Joseph's Rio Vista - St. Therese's Isleton, and all parishioners were enriched by multi-cultural values through working and praying together. This is God's Blessing. We are also grateful for all financial success brought by wide support of our annual fund raiser event. I would like to express my thankfulness to all the hard working Parishioners who, with many hours of preparation, and working against the heat and fatigue, made this success. Thank you everybody for your commitment and enthusiasm. Let's pray that God will help our Parish to be strong spiritually and financially too. "Our Father, who allows us to be united around Your Son at the table of His Word and the table of His Sacrifice in St. Therese's Parish in Isleton, give us courage to continue growth in Faith that we received from our fathers and mothers. Amen.

APRECIACION La Fiesta de la "64 Cena de Pollo" en la Santa Teresita en Isleton nos trajo la renueva del compañerismo de todos amigos de mucho tiempo, el apoyo del Consejo de "Caballero de Columbus" de San José de Rio Vista y de Santa Teresita de Isleton, y todos feligreses enriquecidos en los valores de multicultura juntados al trabajo y al oración. Esto es la Bendición de Dios. Somos agradecidos por el éxito financiero traído por gran soporte de este nuestro evento anual de fondo de dinero. De seria expresar mi agradecimiento a todos feligreses que trabajando duro hicieron este éxito por muchas horas de la preparación. Al fin todos trabajaban juntos contra calor y cansancio. Muchas Gracias todos por su compromiso y entusiasmo. Oremos que Dios ayude nuestra Parroquia ser fuerte espiritual y financiero también. St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe “I don’t know what’s going to become of you!” How many parents have said that? Maximilian Mary Kolbe’s reaction was, “I prayed very hard to Our Lady to tell me what would happen to me. She appeared, holding in her hands two crowns, one white, one red. She asked if I would like to have them—one for purity, the other for martyrdom. I said, ‘I choose both.’ She smiled and disappeared.” After that he was not the same. Maximilian Kolbe was a Polish Conventual Franciscan friar most famous for volunteering to die in place of a stranger at the Auschwitz concentration camp. Kolbe born January 8, 1894 and died August 14, 1941 was named Rajmund and was later also known as Maksymilian Maria Kolbe and the “Apostle of Consecration to Mary”. A town of his birth: Zduńska Wola was at that time part of Russian Empire. Maximilian was the second son of Julius Kolbe and Maria Dabrowska, both devout Catholics with a particular devotion to Mary. His father was an ethnic German and his mother of Polish origins. He had four brothers, Francis, Jo-seph, Walenty (who lived a year) and Andrew (who lived 4 years). His parents moved to Pabianice where they worked first as basket weavers. Later his mother worked as a midwife (often donating her services), and owned a shop in part of her rented house which sold groceries and household goods. Julius Kolbe worked at the “Krushe and Ender Mill” and also worked on rented land where he grew vegetables. In 1914 Julius joined Polish Legions of Józef Piłsudski but was captured by the Russians fighting for the independence of a partitioned Poland. In 1907 Kolbe and his elder brother Francis de-cided to join the Conventual Franciscans. They illegally crossed the border between Russia and Austria-Hungary and joined the Conventual Franciscan junior seminary in Lwów. In 1910 Kolbe was allowed to enter the novitiate. He pro-fessed his first vows in 1911 adopting the name Maximilian and the final vows in 1914 in Rome, adding the name Maria, to show his veneration to the Blessed Virgin Mary. In 1912 he was sent to Cracow and in the same year to a college in Rome, where he studied philosophy, theology, mathematics, and physics. He earned a doctorate in philosophy in 1915 at the Pontifical Gregorian University, and the doctorate in theology in 1919 at the Pontifical University of St. Bonaventure. During his time as a student he witnessed vehement demonstrations against Popes St. Pius X and Benedict XV in Rome and was inspired to organize the Militia Immaculata, or Army of Mary, to work for conversion of sinners and the enemies of the Catholic Church through the intercession of the Virgin Mary. The Immaculata friars utilized the most modern print-ing and administrative techniques in publishing catechetical and devotional tracts, a daily newspaper with a circulation of 230,000 and a monthly magazine with a circulation of over one million.
