Over the next several weeks, we will have a series of presentations on the various types of stewardship. They include Treasure, Vocations, Faith, Prayer, and Earth. We have received many gifts from God and stewardship is an expression of thanks to God for those gifts. As stewards, we are called to use these gifts to further God’s purpose. In Saint Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, he says, “Let me say this much: He who sows sparingly will reap sparingly and he who sows bountifully will reap bountifully. Everyone must give according to what he has inwardly decided; not sadly, not grudgingly, for God loves a cheerful giver. God can multiply his favors among you so that you may always have enough of everything and even a surplus for good works.” As we continue our stewardship journey, may we remember this message and thank God by prayerfully sharing our time, talents, and treasures.Durante las próximas semanas, tendremos una serie de presentaciones sobre los diversos tipos de mayordomía. St. LucyAlso known as Lucia of Syracuse or Saint Lucia, Lucy's history has been lost and all we really know for certain is that this brave woman who lived in Syracuse lost her life during the persecution of Christians in the early fourth century. Her veneration spread to Rome so that by the sixth century the whole Church recognized her courage in defense of the faith. Because people wanted to shed light on Lucy's bravery, legends began to crop up. The one that has passed the test of time tells the story of a young Christian woman who vowed to live her life in service of Christ. Her mother tried to arrange a marriage for her with a pagan and Lucy knew her mother could not be swayed by a young girl's vow, so she devised a plan to convince her mother that Christ was the better partner for life. After several prayers at the tomb of Saint Agatha, Lucy saw the saint in a dream. St. Agatha told Lucy her mother's illness would be cured through faith, which Lucy used to persuade her mother to give the dowry money to the poor and allow her to commit her life to God. While Lucy and her mother were grateful to God, the rejected bridegroom was deeply angered and betrayed Lucy's faith to the governor Paschasius. The governor attempted to force her into defilement at a brothel, but the guards who came to take her away were unable to move her, even after hitching her to a team of oxen. We lead busy lives and in the gospel this weekend, it serves as a "gut-check" to make us think: how much of our lives are spent on our faith?
We hear the parable of the rich man who refused to help Lazarus the beggar (whenever I hear the name Lazarus, I always think of the department store). Lazarus not only was a beggar and poor, he was also sick and couldn't defend himself; the dogs probably took all the food he had and licked all the wounds and sores he had on his body!
The rich man treated Lazarus with disgust until he himself became poor at the end of his life! We see that those who hold on to what they have, lose it all in the end, but those who share with a big heart receive many times more than what they gave.
Lazarus had a life full of hardships, but he did not lose hope in God! His riches were not of this earth, but up in heaven, unlike the rich man who just focused on the riches of the earth and forgot about God.
May we have the joy of realizing God as our true treasure and have a generous heart that we may share with others the spiritual and material riches you have given to us!

• Pray for those affected by natural disasters and acts of violence (the babies in Algeria, forest fires in Indonesia and the Amazon, earthquake in Kasimir, floods in Sri Lanka)

• As you are aware, there have been many things going on in the diocese, particularly in the South End of Columbus, and today’s announcement is nothing new. Bishop Brennan has appointed me Pastor of Corpus Christi, St. Ladislas and St. Mary’s. This will be effective October 4th, 2019 and everything will run the same way as it has been at Corpus Christi and St. Ladislas. I am humbled by this appointment and thank Bishop Brennan for his recognition of my ministry here in the South End.
• September 30-October 3 is the Priests' Convocation in Maumee, Ohio. It is a needed time for fellowship, dialogue and prayer! Because of this, there are no Masses those days. Pray that the priests have a good convocation.

DEL SACERDOTE:El p. VinceLlevamos vidas ocupadas y en el evangelio este fin de semana, sirve como un "control intestinal" para hacernos pensar ¿cuánto de nuestras vidas se gasta en nuestra fe?
Escuchamos la parábola del hombre rico que se negó a ayudar a Lázaro el mendigo (cada vez que escucho el nombre de Lázaro, siempre pienso en los grandes almacenes). Lázaro no solo era un mendigo y un pobre, también estaba enfermo y no podía defenderse; ¡los perros probablemente tomaron toda la comida que tenían y lamieron todas las heridas y llagas que tenía en su cuerpo!
¡El hombre rico trató a Lázaro con asco hasta que él mismo se volvió pobre al final de su vida! Vemos que aquellos que se aferran a lo que tienen, al final lo pierden todo, pero aquellos que comparten con un gran corazón reciben muchas veces más de lo que dieron.
¡Lázaro tuvo una vida llena de dificultades, pero no perdió la esperanza en Dios! Sus riquezas no eran de esta tierra, sino que estaban en el cielo, a diferencia del hombre rico que solo se centró en las riquezas de la tierra y se olvidó de Dios.
¡Que podamos tener la alegría de hacer realidad a Dios como nuestro verdadero tesoro y tener un corazón generoso para que podamos compartir con otros las riquezas espirituales y materiales que nos has dado!

As part of the Stewardship of Faith weekend in October, you are invited to help create a “Rosary of Faith” after each Mass, in Shott Hall, at St. Lads, and the social area at Corpus Christi. You will be able to participate the weekends of October 5 and 6 and October 12 and 13. Choose one or more beads and write down what you will do to nourish or share or Faith. Some beads will be provided as examples. You can also check out the inspiration list provided for you or create your own. SENIOR STARS PILGRIMAGE/PEREGRINACIÓN DE ESTRELLAS MAYORES
The St. Ladislas Sr. Stars will be making their annual pilgrimage trip to the beautiful Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, Ohio, on Thursday, October 17, 2019. We welcome anyone and all ages interested to join us for this special day of prayer and friendship, including Holy Mass, Confession, and individual prayers with the relic of the True Cross. Thanks to a Grant awarded to us through the Dailey Foundation, the cost is $10.00 plus your lunch.
