Tips of the Month - How to Spend More Time With God: Living a merciful life.

Dear brothers and sisters, To continue to expanding the ideas of living our lives according to the 14 Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy - we would like to offer you a few practical tips on how to live the 3rd Corporal Works of Mercy: Cloth the Naked. You can start by making a habit of having a few article of "clothing" in you cars to give away to an in-need person. 1. In the cold months: An old jacket, sweater, hat, scarfs, gloves are much needed. 2. In the rainy seasons: An old umbrella or raincoat would be much appreciated. 3. Anytime of the year: - A unisex cap/hat and socks are much needed. The best size is "Large" for both man and woman. - Personal hygiene items like travel-size liquid soap, shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste & tooth brush as well as razor & shaving cream are always appreciated. It's best to keep these in small ziplock bags.

Usher & Greeters Needed If you are an Usher or Greeter we'd like to thank you for the time you give to make your fellow parishioners and visitors feel wel-come as they arrive for Mass each week. This Ministry is very important since the members often are the first faces people see as they arrive for Mass or the last they see as they collect their bulletins on their way home. We are in urgent need of additional volunteers for this Ministry at all of our Masses. Please contact our co-chairs Steve Duffy ([email protected]) or Joe Cunniff ([email protected]) for more information. If you're interested in helping at the 6pm Mass please talk to Candice Rasmussen.

Today is Pentecost Sunday when we celebrate the birthday of our Church as the Holy Spirit comes upon the Apostles and sends them, at Jesus’ command, to go forth and spread the good news. Pentecost is also the official end of our Easter season and the return to Ordinary time in the Church. It is a good time to look back to what we as a parish have prayed about during the time.

One of the areas we have focused on is living and practicing the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. Another area of focus was reading and praying with the book Rediscover Jesus by Matthew Kelly. As we end Easter it may be a good time to open this book again and take time to review and renew what we

read and were asked to pray and practice in discovering our relationship with Jesus.

When we take time to remember and relive it is a reminder to each of us that the journey of conversion and continued discipleship is sharing our stories and listening to the stories of others. It is resisting the temptation to say we are fin-ished and continue to Rediscover Jesus as the mark of true discipleship.

Next week we, as a parish, will hear the stories of our neophytes baptized at Easter as they share their journeys and how knowing Jesus has blessed their lives. Come Holy Spirit, Fr. Mark

SVDP Corner Ozanam Orientation - The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be having a county wide introductory course about the Society and how it works on June 25th (9 am to 4 pm). Please bring your donations of food to the Outreach Office between 10 am and 11:45 am Monday thru Friday or on the third Sunday of the month when you come to Mass. Volunteers needed. We will be holding our yearly backpack drive in June/July. If you want to get involved please call the Outreach Office at 408-378-8086 and leave your name and phone number so we can contact you.

BEYOND OUR PARISH

Sisters of the Holy Names Annual Strawberry Luncheon

The Sisters of the Holy Names invite you to join them at their annual Strawberry Luncheon on Wednesday, May 25 at 11:30 am. The luncheon is held at the Orchard City Banquet Hall, Campbell Community Center. Tickets are $20 and by advance reservation. May 1868 saw the arrival of the first Sisters of the Holy Names to California. May is the month to celebrate this anniversary and is a time to reflect on the years of ministry: remembering the students taught and lives touched; and give thanks for so much generosity. The Sisters have been a part of the fabric of the south bay since the 1950s: teaching at St. Mary’s in Los Gatos, St. Christopher and Saint Patrick School in San Jose, and running the Casa Maria Montessori, to name a few. Many of the Sisters have recently relocated to Campbell. Gather your friends and come join the Sisters in celebration. We will have drawings for Gift Baskets. Tickets are available by calling 408-395-2868 or emailing [email protected] by Wednesday, May 18. Thank you.
