Abstract
Study title: The role of the teacher in caring for talented students in governmental primary schools in
Riyadh city.
Study objectives: The objectives of this study are to identify the reality of teacher's role in caring
for talented students, to identify the obstacles that limit the teacher while performing his role, to identify
some methods that could enable the teacher to care for talented students, and to identify the proposals that
help the teacher to perform his role in caring for talented students in the primary stage.
Study methodology: This study depends on the analytical, descriptive method in order to know
the role of the teacher in caring for talented students in the primary stage in the governmental schools in
Riyadh city. The study sample was randomly selected and it consisted of (450 teachers) from
governmental primary schools (morning) related to the Ministry of Education in Riyadh City. Also, the
researcher had used the questionnaire as an study instrument as it is very suitable to achieve the study
objectives and answer its questions.
Study results: the main results are:
Teachers are caring for talented students in the primary stage through (teacher's participation in
the success of programs specialized for talented students, in addition, the teacher provides the
talented students with perfect studying environment that enhances the cooperation between them
and building self esteem).
There is a high agreement within teachers in terms of obstacles that limit the teacher while
performing his role in caring for talented students in the primary stage. These obstacles are
represented in (increasing teacher's share (24 classes per week), also, the high density of students
within the classroom, low number of courses available for teacher in the field of talented
individuals, low amount of allowances introduced to teachers who work with talented students,
furthermore, students don’t get any allowances for their external activity (non-class activity).
The study concluded with a group of recommendations in terms of its results besides
a group of recommendations for future studies.
