Term 3 - Important Dates to
Remember
A note from the Principal Welcome to the Clairgate Chronicle – Week 6, Term 3.
How fast is this year travelling! Let’s recap our past
fortnight:
Book Week Spectacular – what a fabulous school
community we have at Clairgate!
It was wonderful to see all children participating in the
Book Parade yesterday – I love the fact that most of
our students dressed up and joined in all the fun. I
believe it says something about the beautiful culture
of our school that most of our stage 3 children still
enjoy and participate fully in this type of activity
without feeling too old or too grown up. I am glad
they are still young enough to enjoy being “kids”!
I also thank our amazing staff who of course are still
young enough to appreciate the joys of dressing up! I
do believe “El Blancho” won the dress up competition
– but mention must be made of Miss Bartlett’s
effort…especially as she had an interesting time
getting the white paint makeup out of her eyebrows!
Well done also to Miss Barnett for her amazing
“pigeon head” – a lot of work went into this.
Book Fair
Didn’t our library look amazing! Thank you to all
parents who bought books from the Book Fair – it was
very successful … still calculating the profit – will let
you know shortly. Huge thanks to Mrs Robinson,
Mrs Grady, Mr Wilkinson, Mrs Whalen and
Mrs McInally for their organisation of this day.
Anyone for Coffee?
Thank you to the Curran family for making their coffee
van available to Clairgate for special days – not only
are we able to have a great coffee on these days – the
family donate a percentage of their profit to Clairgate
– this is much appreciated! Look out for the van at
Clairgate on Parade and at our Infant’s Sports
Carnival.
Calendar Art Winners
It was lovely to see our Calendar Art Winners receive
their certificates from Mrs Tania Davies – our State
member. We wish her all the best as she prepares for
the birth of her baby.
The winners are:
Rachel, Morgan, Bareerah, Sam, Amerie, Emily,
Georgia, Josh, Marcus, Daniel, Abby, Abigail, Zane and
Simonne.
Thanks everyone,
Have a lovely fortnight.
Regards,
Mrs Michelle Lawrow

Emergency Support Needed – Are You Able to help?
We need assistance for a child living in the
St Clair/Colyton area to be transported to and from
school. If you are in a position to pick this child up in
the mornings and bring him to school – and then drop
him home in the afternoon could you please contact
me (Mrs Lawrow) on 9670 1408 to discuss details.
Thanks.
Clairgate on Parade
It is that time of the year at Clairgate when your children get to showcase their talent on stage under the spotlight. There will be three performances:
Show 1 - 7pm on Tuesday, 13/09/16
Show 2 – 7pm on Wednesday, 14/09/16
Matinee - 9:30am Thursday 15/09/16
News from the Office
Dear Parents and Carers,
Just a reminder about our transaction free week! We are unable to accept any EFTPOS, cash, cheque or online POP payments from Saturday, 27th August until Monday, 5th September, 2016. From Tuesday 6th September payments will be accepted as usual.
With the move to the new finance system, we will not have the flexibility to allow for late payments for excursions, camps, sport and all the other things that your children are involved in here at Clairgate. The date for payment indicated on notes will have to be strictly adhered to. This is to allow sufficient time for payments to be made to our suppliers. We will endeavour, wherever possible to give the maximum amount of notice, to allow you to budget for these costs.
We are aware that with busy lifestyles it is easy
to overlook sending payment to school with your
child, but with the implementation of the POP
(Parents Online Payment) system, parents now
have the ability to make payments from home or
even at work. We also have EFTPOS facilities.
Most notes are loaded onto the schools website http://www.clairgate-p.schools.nsw.edu.au/ and also the Clairgate app.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we transition to our new finance system. If you have any questions regarding any of the matters mentioned above, please contact myself or Mrs Lawrow.
Regards,
Gail Makaruk School Administrative Manager

The boys team will now play either JEPS or Banks
PS in our next round. Well done all!
School Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to Miss Grace and Mrs Camilleri

throughout the carnival. A big thank you to all

assisted on the day. Final results are currently
being assessed and winners will be announced at

STEPS MUSIC FESTIVAL On the 28th of July, Senior Choir, Senior Dance and Junior Dance performed at Evans Theatre in Penrith for the 2016 STEPS Music Festival. All groups performed brilliantly. Senior Choir kicked off the night with the songs ‘Lanterns’, ‘Roar’ and ‘Shine’.
The dancers were next and they were feeling excited but also anxious. Senior Dance performed a dance called ‘Welcome to Oz’. It was made up of 5 different songs which were ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’, ‘Ding Dong the Witch is Dead’, ‘We’re Off to See the Wizard’, ‘Ease on Down the Road’, and last of all ‘Somebody in Kansas City Who Loves Me’. The Junior Dance group performed a wonderful dance to the song ‘Sea Cruise’. To finish the night, the mass Senior Choir came back to sing ‘I Go to Rio’ and ‘Dare to Dream’. It was a wonderful evening and everyone did an amazing job. On behalf of all Clairgate performers we would like to thank our wonderful teachers for their time on the night and during our many rehearsals.
