Dear Customer,
Welcome to our first edition of HeadLines for 2015. I hope the festive period has been busy and profitable for you and you are looking forward to a positive start to the New Year.
We have lined up some fantastic cask deals for this year so watch out for our regular special prices on featured cask ales every month.
In addition, we have FREE cases on bottled beers, RTDs, soft drinks such as the new green Coca Cola Life and ciders to help you re-stock your fridge after the hectic Christmas period.
Watch out for some outstanding promotions during the year to help you boost your business bottom line. Our special deals are achieved from benefits gained from being part of the huge buying power of the Today’s Group.
You can use our deals to make the most of the key calendar dates throughout the year, such as Burns night in January and Valentine’s Day in February. Not forgetting those live sport occasions including the big Premier League fixtures and the popular Six Nations battles. These give you a great opportunity to increase your trade.
Wishing you a very Happy & Prosperous New Year!

make The mosT oF The siX NaTioNs 2015The Six Nations is the highlight of the domestic rugby union season and provides pubs the opportunity to boost their trade at the start of the year. It pays to plan, prepare and promote your pub’s offer to make the most of the live rugby.
Decoration Make your pub visually striking during the Six Nations. Use banners and POS to provide colour and to get the atmosphere going! Hang full size national flags of the competing nations.
staff – get them involved and be sure to have enough! Dress your staff in polo shirts, colourful rugby shirts or team colours. It shows they are keen to take part and contribute to the atmosphere.
Remember to plan your staff levels well in advance, particularly when England are playing, as you will need lots of resource to get through the evening successfully. You could also incentivise your staff to upsell – whatever you do to motivate them, make sure everyone is upbeat, energetic and focused on delivering a fantastic customer experience that people will want to come back for.
service This is a key area to get right and one which really benefits from some careful planning. You may have a few precious serving ‘windows’ of brief duration in which to sell as much as you can – make sure you are fully prepared so that your customers can get what they want quickly and easily.
Food Make sure your customers food is available and they know where to order it! Ensure all POS is displayed externally as well as internally if possible. Banners and A boards help to maximise awareness!
half time snacks Make it quick and simple. Hand-held bites such as burgers, hot dogs and pies are ideal. Get your customers to pre-order for half-time and make sure you have a stack of food ready for quick, hassle-free service. You do not want people queuing for food at the start of the second half!
menu planning for big sporting events, why not cut your day’s menu to a range of simple dishes and sharing platters which you know you can prepare and serve quickly.
