Dr. Frank Schmidt
The transformation of the German energy system is the greatest IT project of our times. Deutsche Telekom brings in their core competencies: a nationwide field force, best-in class communication networks, powerful and highly secure data centers and a proven track record in mass data hand-ling. We center our portfolio around standardized and scalable IT platforms – e. g. in the field of smart metering or security management based on public key infrastructure.
Dr. Frank Schmidt SVP Strategic Area Energy
Dr. Bernhard Thies
A key success factor for the change in energy policy is the secure handling of big data. Accordingly there is growing demand for new, intelligent solution strategies. The DKE is playing an active role in shaping the turnaround in energy policy with standards which open up new markets and facilitate innovation. The ETG Congress “Die Energiewende” is the appropriate venue to discuss use cases and take advantage of German experience at the international level.
Dr. Bernhard Thies Chairman of the Board of Directors of DKE
Dr. Martin Schumacher
The energy transition is the right thing to do! Generating electricity from renewable energy sources downsizes consumption of finite fossil fuel deposits, and protects the natural environment and the climate. ABB has already developed crucial innovative products and systems for the energy transition, and trialed them in numerous national and international pilot projects – not least the longitudinal-voltage controller. For the energy transition to succeed, however, we also need new, innovative network technologies for transmission network upgrading – like our 525-kV XLPE cable system for high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission.
Dr. Martin SchumacherMember of the Supervi sory Board, VDE e.V.Member of the Management Board, ABB AG
Smart distribution systems are the key to success of the energy transition. RWE supports shaping the innovative transformation in the systems and views its role as that of a digital pioneer: in the city of Essen we are testing the world‘s longest superconductor cable, named AmpaCity. Furthermore RWE‘s Smart Country, the pilot project in the Eifel region, shows how to cope with the increasing electricity feed-in in rural areas. It has already won numerous awards. We are looking forward to an interesting dialogue on the future of the energy supply system. Therefore the ETG Congress will provide an ideal platform.

INTERNATIONAL ETG CONGRESS 2015
After the term “Energiewende” has made its way into the English language, it is time to establish a dedicated forum to discuss related topics in detail. The Power Engineering Society (ETG) of the German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (VDE) has decided to hold its biannual ETG Congress for the coming years under the headline “Die Energiewende”, starting with the congress in 2015.
Poster sessions as well as four tracks with invited papers dealing with System Aspects, Technologies & Components, Markets & Regulatory Environment as well as ReferenceProjects will provide a broad basis for all experts to present and to discuss the challenges of and solutions for the new energy age.
The new format of the International ETG Congress 2015 aims to intensify the dialogue between manufac-turers and academia. Manufacturers and solutions providers have the opportunity of presenting their pro-ducts prior to the congress as well as within specified timeframes during the congress. These selling activities as well as manufacturers’ forums can be tailored individually. On a first come first serve principle different pre-sentation rooms and booths are offered. Moreover, the International ETG Congress 2015 offers the possibility to participate in different sponsorships. For instance the premium sponsor will have the chance of holding a thematically keynote during one of the four plenary sessions.
All experts, from users through manufacturers to academia, are kindly invited to contribute to the congress by presenting their posters. Although the congress is organized by the Electrical Power Engineering Society, cross-domain energy solutions addressing topics such as power to gas or power to heat are highly wel-comed. Last but not least, the congress will be the perfect forum for students and young professionals to get in contact with all kinds of experts dealing with the latest technologies and solutions for the sake of a bright future of energy.

CALL FOR SPONSORS
The German or European way of a new energy policy needs players who are experienced in the overcoming of com-plex demands. The International ETG Congress – “Die Energiewende” is the ideal platform for Sponsors who plan to communicate this to their customers and partners.
WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND THE CONGRESS
1. “Die Energiewende” is a German respectively an European phenomenon which influences the global energy policy.
2. The Programme is built around Solutions. Exhibitor and Sponsors are an essential part of it.
3. The Congress ist the ideal platform for sponsors planning to communicate and discuss theses subjects/topics with meeting experts and decision makers.
4. It acknowledges the mutual and symmetrical interdependence of operators, policy makers/regulators, and solution providers from various industries.
KEYFACTS
❱ Components and Technologies
The change of the demand for power plants and the grid structure requires new technological solutions at all levels - intelligent ICT structures, modern pro-tective and control equipment and a variety of power electronic components for connecting generators and storage units and the provision of grid services.
❱ Reference Projects
An essential upgrade of the electrical grid with respect to electronic controllability of long distance energy exchange enables an essential reduction of costly mass storage of electrical energy and of conventional “back up power plants”. Advanced power electronics systems will play an important role in future, enabling new DC-Grids, controllable energy transfer and sta-bilization of AC-Grids. New solutions and their appli-cations for electronically controlled DC-Grids, voltage control in AC-Grids and power semiconductors are presented.
❱ Markets & Regulatory Environment
Energy networks provide the economic and technical conditions for energy trade in Europe. They are subject to tight regulation. Due to the supply of renewable energy a grid expansion and restructuring is needed. This creates a balancing act between efficiency on the one hand and thåe maintenance of network stability by the network operator on the other side.
❱ System Aspects
“Die Energiewende” encourages decentralised gene-ration and energy efficiency. The european electricity grid will be linked more closely with different energy systems. The processes at the interface between distribution and transmission grid are becoming more complex and diversified. In consequence a fundamen-tally new understanding of the total energy system is needed. New player are the aggregators who succeed in meeting this new challenges.

EXHIBITOR FORUM
More information:www.etg-congress.com Contact: arndt.zimmermann@vde.com
The International ETG Congress “Die Energiewende” is the place, where leading companies present their inno-vative ideas and solutions. This includes the embedded Exhibitor Forum which offers ideal conditions for meeting of researchers, developers, manufacturers, investors, users and decision makers. There, exhibiting companies and sponsors will have the opportunity to present their offerings in a workshop environment. The places for the Exhibitor Forum are limited. It can be booked separately by exhibitors and sponsors.
• 6 separate rooms of 40-60 sqm each for individual presentation (speeches, workshop, promotion, catering etc.)
• Rooms are close to the exhibitor and catering area
• 3 time slots, each of 60 to 90 minutes
ROOM SETUP
FORMER PLENARY HALL OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
All sessions will be held in the plenary chamber. For the Manufacturers’ Forum there are five rooms (Hall A to Hall G) and a special room into the Exhibitors Forum (Hall H) available. The exhibition with the integrated postersession will take place in the Lobby and the Rhinelobby. In additi-on the catering will be also integrated in this area.
ABB is technology leader in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology and the only company in the market that develops and produces all key components of HVDC systems in house – semi-conductors, converters and high voltage cables. During the two
manufacturers’ forums at the ETG Congress ABB will explain the fundamentals of HVDC and cable technology and will describe different areas of application. In following discussions the participants can – together with ABB specialists – examine the different fields of application and the regulatory environment.
YOUNG PROFESSIONALS PANEL
The Young Professionals Panel is the place to be for young engineers. The topic „innovation“ as the key factor for suc-cess in fast moving international markets will involve theory, practical experiences, a sector duel and the European view on innovation in regulated markets.
