The Watertown Catholic Community is comprised of two parishes - St. Bernard and St. Henry Catholic Churches - and our combined school, the Watertown Catholic School. Historically, our parishes were founded by Irish and German immigrants but today we are
home to and serve a wide variety of God’s people. Thank you for joining us this week. May God bless you!

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for “May fi$h”) is a Mexican holiday commemora"ng the Ba%le of Puebla of May 5, 1862, in which Mexican forces defeated an invading French army far superior in numbers and equipment.
Cinco de Mayo has taken on a life of its own in the United States, celebrated by Mexican-Americans and many others. Any na"onal or cultural holiday is a good occasion to pray for one’s country or cultural group. Take a moment to pray for Mexico and its people on May 5!

3. Sacramental Order, con!nued
The confession of sins in Holy Confession at least once a year is one of the Church’s commandments (CCC 2042). When the believers no longer confess their sins and no longer experience the absolu"on of their sins, salva"on becomes impossible; a$er all, Jesus Christ became Man to redeem us from our sins. The power of forgiveness that the Risen Lord has given to the Apostles and their successors in the ministry of bishops and priests applies also for mortal and venial sins which we commit a$er Bap"sm. The current popular prac"ce of confession makes it clear that the conscience of the faithful is not sufficiently formed. God's mercy is given to us, that we might fulfill His Commandments to become one with His Holy Will, and not so as to avoid the call to repentance (CCC 1458).
“The priest con"nues the work of redemp"on on earth” (CCC 1589). The ordina"on of the priest “gives him a sacred power” (CCC 1592), which is irreplaceable, because through it Jesus becomes sacramentally present in His saving ac"on. Therefore, priests voluntarily opt for celibacy as "a sign of new life" (CCC 1579). It is about the self-giving in the service of Christ and His coming kingdom.

¡Adorarlo!»

San Miguel Arcángel... defiéndenos en la lucha;
