The study of how organisms interact with each other and how they interact with their
environment.

o Groups of populations that interact with each other at any given day or time
o Also interact with abiotic (non-living) parts of the community.

o Very little energy at this level
o Usually its rare to be at this level

o Moves from the lowest level to the highest level
o 90% of the energy is used up at each level in order for the organism to properly function
o The original energy comes from the sun.
What is carry capacity?
o Largest number of individuals that can survive over long periods of time in a given environment.
o This level depends on the effect of the limiting factors

o Competition between species principally they are competing for food, water, shelter.
o Competition among species they are competing for food, water, shelter and mates.
