MASSES Saturday: 9:00am (English); Vigil Mass: 5:30pm (English). Sunday: 8:00am (Spanish); 10:00am (English); 12:00, 2:30 & 5:00pm (Spanish). Jesus is the Messiah King - He takes us with him into his kingdom of the world to come We listen to the truth, standing by his throne, which is the cross.
What kind of king is Jesus? In this reading from the passion story in John's Gospel, Jesus provides us with his own answer. Pontius Pilate was the Roman official who held power in Palestine. He asks Jesus if he is the king of the Jews. Pilate really wants to know whether Jesus might be part of a Jewish revolt against Roman rule. Jesus assures Pilate that his kingdom is not of this world. He is not one who rules by force. However he is a king who came in Father, I praise you, I bless you, I thank you that you have led me together with your Son, Jesus, into Pilate’s Praetorium, into this foreign and hostile land, and yet a land of revelation and of light. Only you, in your infinite love, can transform every distance and every darkness into a place of en-counter and life. I would like to be an instru-ment in the hands of my king, Jesus, to pass on to all the consoling notes of your Word. Father, today I have listened to you in this Gospel. Please grant that my ears may never tire of listening to you, to you Son, to your Spirit. Grant that I may be born again from truth so that I may give witness to truth. Amen.
Jesús es el Rey Mesías Él nos lleva consigo a su reino del mundo futuro
Junto a su trono, que es la cruz, escuchamos la verdad ¿Qué tipo de rey es Jesús? En esta lectura de la historia de la pasión de Jesús en el Evangelio de Juan, Jesús nos ofrece su respuesta. Poncio Pilato era un oficial romano, gobernador de Palestina. El le pregunta a Jesús si él es el rey de los judíos. Pilato realmente quiere saber si Jesús es parte de una revuelta de los judíos en contra de Roma. Jesús le asegura a Pilato que su reino no es de este mundo. El no gobierna a la fuerza. Sin embargo, él es un rey que vine al
mundo a "dar testimonio de la verdad". Todo el que lo reconoce como "el camino, la verdad y la vida" escuchará su voz. Oración: Padre, te alabo, te bendigo, te doy gracias porque me has conducido con tu Hijo al pretorio de Pilato, en esta tierra extranjera y hostil y sin embargo tierra de revelación y de luz. Solo tú, con tu amor infinito, sabes transformar toda lejanía y toda obscuridad en un lugar de encuentro y de vida. Gracias porque has hecho surgir el tiempo santo de la consolación en el cual envías a tu Cordero, sentado en el trono, como rey inmolado y viviente; su sangre es una cascada restauradora y unción de salvación. Gracias porque Él me habla siempre y me canta tu verdad, que es sólo amor y misericordia; quisiera ser un instrumento en las manos del rey, de Jesús, para transmitir a todos las notas consoladoras de tu Palabra. Padre, te he escuchado hoy, en este Evangelio, pero te ruego, haz que mis oídos no se cansen jamás de tí, de tu Hijo, de tu Espíritu. Hazme renacer, así a la verdad, para ser testigo de la verdad. Al terminar el año litúrgico, estamos agradecidos por las formas en que hemos escuchado la voz de nuestro rey durante al año. Consideramos como vivir la palabra de Jesús con más fidelidad al iniciar un nuevo ciclo. Amén
