16th Sunday in ordinary time/ 16 domingo de tiempo ordinario July 17, 2016

Father’s corner Close to Jerusalem is Bethany, there live the friends of Jesus: Martha, Mary and Lazarus, family that has a friendship with Jesus and that their house will be host-ing. This is the home where the son of God is able to rest since he has "no place to rest his head". Jesus goes to Jerusalem, but passes by to visit his friends, the family that makes out of the ordinary something extra by the presence of the guest. The Gospel does not give details of how this friend-ship came to be, it may be that it is established after the conversion of Mary, but either way in the mind of the Evangelist is the opportunity to give the message of salvation. Jesus takes advantage of simplicity and the opening of Mary, who leaves everything to listen to him, to extend and tell Marta that the most impor-tant, in humans, is prayer, peace, and listening to the word. Marta seems to lose the peace and tranquility into something that is also necessary, to give care to others. Jesus recognizes the gesture given by Marta , when the woman gives the complaint that her sister doesn't help her; with friendly voice Jesus advised that to that rhythm of life, all lose the peace and the tranquility, that all activity is dependent upon the love to God because all service, in the love of God, "remain in the breast of the lover, that is God." LA esquina del padre Cerca de Jerusalén se encuentra Betania, allí viven los amigos de Jesús, Marta, María y Lázaro, familia que tiene una amistad con Jesús y que su casa le servirá de hospedaje. Es allí en ese hogar que el Hijo de Dios descansa puesto que no tiene “donde descansar su ca-beza”.

Jesús va a Jerusalén, pero antes pasa y visita a sus amigos, la familia que hace de lo ordinario algo extra por la presencia del invitado.

El evangelio no da detalles del cómo se da esta amis-tad, puede ser que se hay establecido después de la conversión de María, pero igual, en la mente del evan-gelista, es la oportunidad para dar el mensaje de la Salvación. Jesús toma ventaja de la sencillez y la aper-tura de María, que deja todo por escucharlo, para ala-garla y decirle a Marta que lo mas importante, en el ser humano, es la Oración, la Paz y la escucha a la pa-labra. Marta parece pierde la paz y la tranquilidad en algo que también es necesario, dar atención a los de-más. Jesús reconoce el gesto activo de Marta, cuando la activa mujer, le da la queja de que su hermana no le ayuda; con voz amable Jesús le aconseja que a ese rit-mo de vida, todos pierden la paz y la tranquilidad por eso toda actividad tiene que depender del amor a Dios porque todo servicio, en el amor de Dios, “permaneces en el seno del amante, que es Dios.” Bendiciones!
