July 13, 2020 Dear People of St. John the Evangelist: When I came here many years ago at the request of our be-loved Bishop Manuel Moreno of happy memory, he told me that he needed me to minister to this parish that he loved. God has done so much for us through the powerful interces-sion of his Son and that of the Virgin of Guadalupe. During this time of the coronavirus, public celebration of the mass has been temporarily suspended. Nevertheless through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, we have a parking lot mass at 6:30 pm, we distribute communion at 11:30 am, and be-ginning this Sunday, we will have an outdoor mass at 8:00 am in the school patio. We have confessions at 6:00 pm on Thursdays outside of the church. We continue to have funer-als and weddings inside the church with limited numbers of people. We do all this exercising necessary precautions out of Christian charity. Soon our school and religious education will begin. Relying on God’s mercy during this time, we have turned to the power of prayer having a powerful celebration of the Divine Mercy and in May we had a public recitation of the rosary in the parking lot asking for Our Lady of Fatima’s protection. In these devotions, powerful devotions were giv-en. God through the mystery of the incarnation has not abandoned us. After prayer and reflection, I have decided to consecrate our parish family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. At this time that demonic forces are attacking humanity, the church and especially the family, more than ever, need Jesus, Mary and Joseph for our spiritual renewal and purification; as well as protection for the church and our country. We must pray for parents, church and political leaders that God may fill them with His graces. Beginning Friday July 17, with the celebration of the First Holy Communion of our children, the Litanies of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Mary and Joseph will be recited by Fr. Gon-zales and myself. We will pray the litany at 6:30 pm outside the church. We will do this until the solemnity of the As-sumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15. I ask all parish members to join us in prayer and to conse-crate themselves and the family uniting our parish to the powerful prayer of the Holy Family which will surely reach the heart of our Heavenly Father. We know in faith that God is almighty, that this virus will not have the final word and that the gates of hell will not triumph against the church nor our families and our country. We must be bold and fervent in our prayer. God expects this of us. You are always in my and Fr. Gonzales’ priestly hearts. I lift each of you to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Please pray for your priests. Jesus, Joseph and Mary I give you my heart and soul. Msgr. Raul P. Trevizo, Pastor

Mons. Raúl P. Trevizo, Pastor
