Through his death and resurrection, Jesus gave us the

ultimate example of what it means to truly love your

neighbor as yourself, as he accepted death in order to

conquer our sins and give us everlasting life. Today, we

rejoice in his choice to love us and we celebrate his

glory! We also want to thank you for following the

example of Appeal Patron St. Clare of Assisi, who

fervently believed in loving her neighbors and uplifting

the poor and marginalized in society. Like St. Clare

of Assisi, we thank you for loving and uplifting those

who are most in need in Western New York by

contributing to Catholic Charities. Thank you for your

continued support of the 2018 Appeal!

Divine Mercy Sunday, April 8

1 Acts 4:32 - 35 “With great power the apostles bore

witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great

favor was accorded them all.”

Psalm 118 “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,

his love is everlasting.”

1 John 5:1 – 6 “And the victory that conquers the

world is our faith. Who indeed is the victor over the

world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of

God?”

John 20:19 – 31 “…Then he said to Thomas, "Put your

finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and

put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but

believe."

WAKING UP CATHOLIC

Each year during the magnificent Easter Vigil lit-

urgy, parishes throughout the world welcome those

who have journeyed through the RCIA process into

full communion with Christ and His Church. Through

a time of seeking, discerning, prayer and study, sharing

who they are and who they hope to be, they are now

ready to answer the question - "What do you ask of

God's Church?"

Each year, the Christian community is witness to an

evening filled with awe at the reminder of our

Church's history and our journey from darkness into

light. It is also a time when the Church faithful is

asked to recognize that much has been asked of these

catechumens - and should be moved to ponder, what

is asked of me, a baptized Catholic? The new Catholic

Christian begins an entirely new life, infused with the

gifts of the Holy Spirit and the Body of Christ, should

we not use this most sacred time of year to be more

aware of the gifts we have already been given, and be-

gin again with the new joy and enthusiasm we see on

the faces of the newest members of our family?

Please join in prayer with the whole Church as

those who were "seekers" wake up Catholic on Easter

Sunday morning, ready to join the Body of Christ, now

fully committed to go out and spread the good news of

the Gospel.

From the Diary of St. Faustina Kowalska

O my Jesus, my only hope, thank you for the book

which You have opened before my soul’s eyes. That

book is Your passion which You underwent for love in

me. It is from this book that I have learned how to love

God and souls. In this book there are found for us

inexhaustible treasures. O Jesus, how few souls

understand You in Your martyrdom of love! Oh, how

great is the fire of purest love which burns in Your

most sacred heart! Happy the soul that has come to

understand the love of the heart of Jesus! (Diary 304)

My Response: Thank you, Jesus, for Your eternal love

and mercy.

"Reflecting on the healed wounds of the Risen Christ,

we see that even our most difficult trials can be the

place where God manifests his victory. He makes all

things beautiful. He makes all things new".

TODAY, EASTER SUNDAY!

From the Christian perspective, Easter Eggs are said to represent Jesus' emergence from the tomb. Let’s share the good news with our children! Come help us celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord with the first annual Blessed Sacrament Easter Egg Hunt, Easter Sunday after the 9:00 am Mass. Rain or shine inside or out, for children ages 1 through 9. Hope to see your family there!

Doors open at 5:00 pm Saturday, April 21st for our annual Meat Raffle! Your $5 admission includes beer (served to adults with proof of age), beverages, pop-corn and cookies. Pizza will be available for purchase. (No additional alcohol may be brought in, but you may bring additional snacks.) Bring singles for Meat Raffle Spins will include steak, chicken, ribs, bacon and much more. Table reservations accepted for 8 or more with your pre-sale ticket purchase in the parish office. Our special prize tickets give you the chance to win a grill, smoker, freezer and more (winners of the special

prize raffles do not need to be present). If you can work this event, please call Jane at 480-9071.

We welcome the return of Rev. Mr. Venatius Agbasiere, Transitional Deacon in the Diocese of Buffalo and author of the books “Suffering,” and “Welcome to the World of Social Media.” He wowed us once already with his warmth and humility of heart, his keen insights and his straight-talking style. We are honored to have him back! Who has not struggled to understand the suffering of a loved one? Who has not questioned God in the midst of personal misfortune? How can suffering be part of God's plan? How can we find joy, when filled with anxiety about the future? How can someone be happy while wracked with pain? Come join us as we end the Easter week discussing how to bind such suffering to Christ. As we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, during Easter week, we welcome all men to our next Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study on Saturday April 7, 2018 here at Blessed Sacrament Church. Mass at 8:00 AM, full breakfast at 8:40 AM, presentation at 9:15 AM, optional Bible study at 10:15 AM. Please bring friends and RSVP to: [email protected] or (716) 834-4282, so we can prepare enough food. Thank you.
