PASTORAL Message Anointing of Sick
Next weekend, following the 4pm Mass at Saint Patrick and the 7:30am
Mass at Sacred Heart, Fr. Conley will offer the Anointing of the
Sick. In the Church's Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, through
the ministry of the priest, it is Jesus who touches the sick to heal them
from sin – and sometimes even from physical ailment. His cures were
signs of the arrival of the Kingdom of God. The core message of his
healing tells us of his plan to conquer sin and death by his dying and
rising.
The Rite of Anointing tells us there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death to receive the
Sacrament. A careful judgment about the serious nature of an illness is sufficient. When the Sacrament of
Anointing of the Sick is given, the hoped-for effect is that, if it be God's will, the person be physically healed of
illness. But even if there is no physical healing, the primary effect of the Sacrament is a spiritual healing by
which the sick person receives the Holy Spirit's gift of peace and courage to deal with the difficulties that
accompany serious illness or the frailty of old age.
Those who would like to participate in the Rite of Anointing next weekend will be asked to remain in the
Church following the final blessing at which point Fr. Conley will give everyone instruction on how the Rite will
proceed. The Prayer Shawl Ministry will have blessed shawls placed by the altar for anointed parishioners to
take home as a gift.

WELCOME Pope Francis tells us “always know in your heart that God is by your side; he never abandons you! Let us never lose hope! Let us never allow it to die in our hearts!” As Christians, we are always growing as people of faithfulness and people of hope. Whether you’re an active practicing Catholic, or don’t know the last time you attended a Mass, God still wants to be part of your life no matter your circumstances.
You are always welcome here as part of our community of faith to learn, to grow, and to pray.
November is Month of Remembrance
All SoulsEnvelopes to remember the deceased are available at the doors of the Church. Donations can be dropped in the Offertory collection anytime over the next few weeks. Envelopes are placed on the altar during the month of November and those names will be remembered at each Mass.
Book of RemembranceAt the front of the Church sanctuaries we will have a table with the Book of Remembrance, You are invited to inscribe the names of all your family, friends, and relatives, who have died. They will be remembered in our daily prayers at all the Masses this month. Feel free to add names as the month continues.
Book of Remembrance FlowersNext to the Book of Remembrance both churches will have small fresh bouquets of flowers delivered each Friday in the month of November. If you would like to donate $30 for one of the five weeks, we will note our thanks and the name of the person to be remembered in the bulletin. Please call the Parish Office at (617) 926-9680 or email [email protected]. There are still 3 weeks available at St. Pats & 4 weeks available at Sacred Heart.
Knight of Columbus Eyeglass Collection
The Watertown Knights of Columbus will be collecting used eyeglasses on behalf of the LIONS. There will be a box at the back of both Churches on the week end of November 10th & 11th. The glasses will be collected after the Masses and sent to the LIONS for their charitable works.

Mass for the Sick and Those in Need of Prayers
Fr. Conley and the staff of the Watertown Catholic Collaborative will offer their monthly private staff Mass on Monday, November 4th for all of the living parishioners in our prayer corner for the sick. Please contact the Collaborative Office with names of loved ones, family members, and friends you would like to be remembered at this Mass. Please email [email protected] or call 617-926-9680 to add someone to the list.
An abundance of graces flow when a Mass is offered. Pope Saint Paul VI tells us that The Mass is the most perfect form of prayer. We are honored to offer our staff Mass for all of the sick.
We ask you to remember them in your prayers too!
SAINT VINCENT DEPAUL Society
In the Gospel today, Zacchaeus accepts our Lord joyfully; and the sign of his acceptance is his open house and his resolution to give half of his goods to the poor.
Through your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul you also show your acceptance of our Lord by joyfully sharing your goods with your neighbor who is hungry, hopeless, alone and frightened.
Donate Altar Wine: Would you like to donate the Altar Bread and Wine in memory of a loved one? Contact the Collaborative Offices at 617-926-9680 or [email protected].
Donations can be placed in the offertory baskets at either church during any weekend mass.
