We are at a crucial point of growth, where the digital transformation of our industry plays a fundamental role. BIND 4.0 is a sample of the enormous capacity for innovation that we have when we join forces between the public administration, leading companies, emerging companies and an innovative ecosystem. Thus, BIND 4.0 responds to the new demands of an increasingly competitive market and, in turn, encourages innovation. A union that has led BIND 4.0 to triple its participation figures as we enter our fourth year. This is just the beginning.

The Public-Private Accelerator Delivering Real Projects to Industry 4.0 Startups
Since the first edition, over 100 startups have accelerated their business through the BIND 4.0 Acceleration Program. More than 170 Industry 4.0 projects have been developed, which have realized turnover for participating startups of 4.5 million euros. The program, which has gained increasing interest from innovative startup companies, has received a total of more than 1,600 applications since it began.
BIND 4.0 has increased its main figures, both in the number of participating startups which have gone from the original 11 in the first edition, up to 38 in the latest iteration, and in the number of projects developed, with 53 pilot projects in the latest edition, compared to 16 in the first.
The total number of corporate partners has also increased each year as word spreads about the synergies and successes of the program, currently we have 52 corporate partners in the fourth edition, up from 40 in the third edition, 27 in the second and 15 in the very first edition.
Plus, the program has attracted talent from around the globe, wherein applications have been received from 6 continents and 78 countries. In its fourth edition, BIND 4.0 has undeniably established itself at an international level, as a benchmark accelerator for innovative industrial projects.

These incredible figures accompany the positive results that companies obtain even after the program is finished. This is substantial proof of the program’s success, and it’s important to us to know that the startups continue to have life and movement after participating in the program. We are proud to share that 100% of startups continue with their activities, one year after their participation in BIND 4.0.
Plus, 6 out of 10 startups have renewed their contracts after the program, maintaining client relationships with our Corporate Partners. On average, startup participants have doubled their billing and captured many new customers after their involvement in our well-rounded program including industry events, mentoring and networking opportunities.
Thus after four years of steady work, BIND 4.0 has proven to be successful, capable of promoting the digital transformation of the industry and, in turn, accelerating new initiatives through the validation and incorporation of technologies in customer scenarios.

This pilot project is a paid contract, with an average amount of €45,000, with leading companies in the industry sector and contracts can be as high as €150,000. In addition to the client-customer contracts to test their product and the support services offered by the accelerator, different networking activities are carried out with the participating companies and the public to facilitate the immersion of startups in the Basque region industrial ecosystem, one of the most vibrant and growing networks in Europe.

Corporate Partners participating in BIND 4.0 have access to an agile Open Innovation Platform where they can discover, meet and interact with the best startups under the Venture Client approach. The BIND 4.0 program allows them to be early adopters of the most innovative technologies developed by startups and boost competitive, state-of-the-art solutions into their processes.
Furthermore, our Corporates Partners benefit from the Startup Scouting conducted in order to meet their specific goals and address any industry-related challenges. BIND 4.0 provides an identification and analysis of the high-quality solutions and business technologies that are of interest to them. In short, the program is identifying and attracting talent from around the world with the aim of improving the competitiveness, diversification and new niche markets of companies located in Basque Country.

Access to Clients
BIND 4.0 is the first startup accelerator in the world that turns startup companies into customers of leading industrial companies. 52 Corporate Partners, which are the main players in Basque Industry, with history and know-how, will join the emerging companies in the search for innovative and competitive technological solutions `ad hoc’ for each company.
Access to Financial Aid & Investment
BIND 4.0 is a `zero equity’ program, that is, it does not require startups to allocate part of their business in order to participate. What’s more, the startups will have access to economic aid for entrepreneurship, technology and business development offered by the Basque Government, SPRI and the three Basque Provincial Councils. The variable funding is offered in the form of grants, subsidies, financing or equity participation.
Mentoring
The selected startups will have specialized support, provided by mentors, entrepreneurs and professionals of global relevance. BIND 4.0 Mentors are experienced in the fields of go-to-market strategy, technology, business modeling and scale-up, access to finance, commercial skills, internationalisation, and business development.
Training
Participants will attend high-impact workshops taught by world-class professionals with specific training to develop key capabilities to help accelerate startups. There will be high-quality training in technical skills, go-to-market strategy, market positioning, business development and aspects related to project financing and funding.

Networking
Working the network of contacts and going to activities and events that allow one to build relationships with other professionals and seek new business opportunities, has become one of the most effective tools for emerging companies. BIND 4.0 will provide access and direct contact with the entire Basque industrial, scientific and technological ecosystem which is compiled of large, medium and small local companies. Startups will meet face to face with the institutional, business, university and technological players that are most interesting to them.
Workspaces
Startups will have spaces provided to develop their projects in the ecosystem of the BIC, Business and Innovation Centers (BIC Araba, BIC Bizkaia, BIC Bizkaia Ezkerraldea and BIC Gipuzkoa). The work spaces will be determined with flexibility, meeting the needs or preferences of each startup and collaborating company.
International Projection & Visibility
The program will offer selected emerging companies the greatest possible visibility and credibility acting as a launching platform for these companies. They will be able to participate, among other events, in the Basque Industry 4.0 Congress, organized every year by the Basque Business Development agency SPRI.

BIND 4.0 is a program promoted by the Basque Government and the SPRI Group, a business development agency where Basque companies find the tools with which to finance, launch, internationalize, locate industrial land, apply new technologies, innovate and carry out the necessary steps of entering the New Industry, the Basque Industry 4.0. In addition, it is the agency commissioned by the Basque Government to attract and facilitate foreign investments from its “Invest in the Basque Country” service.
BIND 4.0 has 52 Corporate Partners, which are some of the world’s leading companies in the Industry 4.0 arena. They play a key role in the industries of Advanced Manufacturing, Smart Energy, Health and Food among others and are located and have a core office (another option: are headquartered or have a core subsidiary company) in the Basque Country.
BIND 4.0 Corporate Partners are fully immersed in the digital transformation of their businesses and have open innovations programs and innovation initiatives held.
Selected startups will develop a project for one of these well-established companies while getting the unique opportunity to grow alongside them. The partner company will function as a customer as well as a resource for new technologies and networks, which the startup can use to develop its business and commercial tools.

BIND 4.0 is led by the Basque Government and its business development agency SPRI. Because it is designed, in part, to attract and promote innovation and to position the region as number one on the international level for industrial activity, the program is free to participate and there is no equity taken from participating startups. One of the greatest advantages of this project is to have the participation of more than 50 leading companies in Industry 4.0 that act as corporate partners of BIND 4.0 plus an important cast of expert mentors in technology and Industry 4.0 who work hand in hand with startup participants throughout the entire program.
