Como sacerdote que sirvió en el Encuentro Matri-monial Mundial, he descubierto la verdad de esta realidad. Mi vida sacramental como sacerdote se fortalece con la vida sacramental de las parejas casadas. El Padre Stephen J. Rossetti escribe: "Un apoyo y desafío constante para los sacerdotes proviene del pueblo de Dios. Su presencia es una forma importante en la que Dios se nos manifiesta. Cuando nos conectamos personalmente con las personas a quienes servimos, so-mos afirmados, apoyados y desafiados".
Nuestro Obispo Patrick quiere que cada parroquiano apoye a nuestros hermanos jubilados. Actualmente te-nemos 44 sacerdotes jubilados en nuestra diócesis. Esta semana tomaremos una colecta especial para esta-bilizar el fondo de jubilación que apoya a estos hombres que han sacrificado tanto en el servicio de nuestra Iglesia. Su generosidad es muy apreciada. Si no puede dar hoy, llevese un sobre a su casa y devuélvalo la próxima semana. Por favor, oren por sus sacerdotes y por las vocaciones.

Your support of the priesthood is vital in the mission of the Church. As a priest who served in the Worldwide Marriage Encounter I have discovered the truth of this reality. My sacramental life as a priest is strengthened in unity with the sacramental life of married couples. Fr. Stephen J. Rossetti writes, “A consistent support and challenge for priests comes from the people of God. Their presence is an important way in which God is man-ifested to us. As we personally connect with the people whom we serve, we are affirmed, supported, chal-lenged, and “stretched.””
Our Bishop Patrick has also each parishioner to sup-port our retired brothers. At this time we have 44 re-tired priests in our diocese. This week we take up a special collection to stabilize the retirement fund which supports these men who have sacrificed so much in service our Church. Your generosity is greatly appreci-ated. If you cannot give today, please feel free to take an envelope home with you and return it next week.
Please pray for your priests and for vocations.

DIOCESAN PRIESTS RETIREMENT APPEAL: Our retired diocesan priests continue to impact the lives of thousands each and every year! These men of God celebrate Mass, administer the sacraments, and walk with us still. Our Diocesan priests have given us decades of faithful service, receiving modest compensa-tion for their work. Many of priests continue their ministry for years after retirement, assisting in parishes with weekend liturgies, hearing confessions, and visiting the sick. These priests rely on their payments from Social Security and the Priest Retirement Plan for their needs. In recent years the number of retired priests has grown significantly to 44, challenging the diocesan retirement resources. Therefore on Good Shepherd Sun-day, April 22, each parish will take up a second collection at Mass for the new Diocesan Priests Retirement Appeal. Your generosity to this appeal helps us keep an important promise of care to these priests who have been good Shepherds and have kept their promises to us. Children’s Faith Formation / Formación de Fe para Niños
Teen Faith Formation Are you being called to serve the youth? Hello, my name is Patty Osorio and I am the Youth Minister here at St. Lucy Par-ish. I’m not the only youth minister. Did you know we are all called to help educate our youth and lead each and every one of them closer to Christ? I believe our youth are our most important treasure. In this community we should all share a common goal— evangelizing children and teens to become active, productive, and happy contributing community members. Many of our teens need individualized attention and YOU have had varied experiences that can help our youth. I’m in need of volunteers to help me in ways that will allow me to provide more personal assistance to the youth. Our Parish volunteers (Core Leaders) support our teens and our parish. My job is to help and empower YOU to evangelize the youth. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer at our parish, I would be delighted to hear from you. There are many different ways volunteers can assist in our programs, depending on your special abilities or interests. We can discuss the volunteer program in more detail, simply contact me and I can meet you individually.

June 11 to 15, 2018 Zephyr Point Conference Center, South Lake Tahoe
The Diocesan Youth Retreat (DYR) is an annual summer retreat hosted by the Diocese of San Jose. For five days teens (graduated 8th graders to graduated 12th graders) experience and encounter the love of God by means of Catholic catechesis creating lasting friendships. The goal of DYR is to gather and empower teen participants to live fully the gospel of Jesus Christ, develop their Catholic identity and instill a zeal for the New Evangelization. Attendees can look forward to Daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, daily workshops and small group dialogues to provide opportunities to encounter Christ and the beauty of the Catholic faith. Recreational times and activities are available throughout the day for teens to unwind and have an unforgettable time (e.g. swim, art, games, music, messy game, challenges, etc.)
El Retiro Diocesano de la Juventud (DYR) es un retiro anual de verano organizado por la Diócesis de San José. Durante cinco días, los adolescentes (graduados del 8º grado hasta el 12º grado graduado) encuentran el amor de Dios mediante la catequesis católica creando amistades duraderas. El objetivo de DYR es reunir y empoderar a los adolescentes participantes para vivir plenamente el evangelio de Jesucristo, desarrollar su identidad católica e infundir su interés por la Nueva Evangelización. The Bible Study Group will be offering a 5 week course on Scripture and the Rosary starting Monday even-ing, May 7, at 7 pm in PAC B. The same course will be offered on Tuesday mornings starting May 8 at 10 am in PAC B. Five Scripture passages from the New Testament will be explored for each set of the rosary's mys-teries: the Joyful, the Sorrowful, the Luminous, and the Glorious. Suggested donation is $20.
