The one longed-for by all - The presentation of the Child in the Temple Luke 2:22-40

The young couple with the child in their arms; the old man who rejoices and embraces, the old lady

who prays and proclaims, those listening who appear to be indirectly involved. At the end of the

passage, we also get a glimpse of the village of Nazareth, of the growth of the child in a normal

context, the impression of a child extraordinarily gifted with wisdom and goodness. The theme of

wisdom woven into the fabric of normal life and growth in a village context, leaves the story as if in

suspense, and it will be taken up again precisely with the theme of the wisdom of the boy among the

doctors in the temple. Prayer: Father, we praise you

and we bless you because through your Son, born of

woman by the working of the Holy Spirit, born under

the law, has ransomed us from the law and you have

filled our life with light and new hope. May our

families welcome and remain faithful to your

designs, may they help and sustain in their children

the new dreams and enthusiasm, wrap them in

tenderness when they are fragile, educate them in

El esperado de las gentes - La presentación del Niño

en el templo Lucas 2, 22-40

La pareja de esposos con el niño en brazos; el

anciano que goza y abraza; la anciana que reza y

anuncia, los oyentes que aparecen indirectamente

comprometidos. El crecimiento del niño en un

contexto normal, la impresión de un niño dotado de

forma extraordinaria de sabiduría y bondad.

El tema de la sabiduría entrelazada con la vida normal de crecimiento y en el contexto del pueblo,

deja la historia como suspendida: ella se reabrirá precisamente con el tema de la sabiduría del

muchacho entre los doctores del templo.

Oración: Te alabamos y te bendecimos, oh Padre, porque mediante tu Hijo, nacido de mujer por

obra del Espíritu Santo, nacido bajo la ley, nos has rescatado de la ley y has llenado nuestra

existencia de luz y esperanza nueva. Haz que nuestras familias sean acogedoras y fieles a tus

proyectos, ayuden y sostengan en los hijos los sueños y el nuevo entusiasmo, lo cubran de ternura

cuando sean frágiles, lo eduquen en el amor a Tí y a todas las criaturas. A Tí nuestro Padre, todo

honor y gloria.

En este primer día del año la Iglesia fija su mirada en la

celestial Madre de Dios que estrecha entre sus brazos al

Niño Jesús: FUENTE DE TODA BENDICIÓN.

También nos unimos hoy en oración por la Jornada Mundial

de la Paz e invocamos la poderosa intercesión de María -

Madre del Príncipe de la Paz- para que la familia humana en-

tre con esperanza en este nuevo tiempo que Dios nos regala,

y viva en la fraternidad y en la paz el año que hoy comienza.

On this first day of the year the Church fixes her gaze on the

heavenly Mother of God who holds in her arms the Child

Jesus: SOURCE OF BLESSING.

We also join in prayer today for the World Day of Peace and

invoke the powerful intercession of Mary Mother of the

Prince of Peace- for the human family between hope in this

new time that God gives us, and live in fraternity and peace in the year that begins today.
