Papers on the theme and sub-themes mentioned above or
any other issues relating with the broad theme may be
submitted for presentation in the Seminar. All papers
will go through a process of review by a panel of experts
and accepted papers will be published in the Seminar
Proceedings. The papers should not exceed 5000 words
and should contain an abstract. The paper in MS-Word
2003 format in A4 size single column and single line
space may be sent to the Director by e-mail

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Orissa
Legislature on 10th December, 1966 and the University
started functioning from 1st January 1967. The Post-
Graduate Departments of Sambalpur University offer MA/
MBA/ MSc./ MTech./ MPhil/ Ph.D and DLitt./ DSc.
degrees. All the Departments are actively involved in
research and well equipped for research facilities for
NET/GATE/JRF students. Many PG Departments have
been recognized as centre of excellence and have been
receiving special grants for conducting cutting edge
research. The Central Library of the University holds a
large collection of books, journals, theses and reference
documents along with access to e-resources from
INFLIBNET.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Post Graduate Department of Business
Administration is one among the Twenty Post Graduate
Departments of Sambalpur University, which was
established in 1989 for imparting management education
in this part of the state.
Presently, it runs three programmes viz. two year
Regular MBA Programme, three year Executive MBA
programme and three year MBA programme on distance
mode of education. Specializations both major and minor
in different functional areas like Finance, Marketing,
Human Resource management, Systems and Productions
and Operations are offered by the Department. Besides,
the Department conducts research programme leading to
Ph.D Degree.
The Department has internet connectivity available to
students and faculty members. The Department is
enriched with highly qualified and dedicated teachers
being educated from different Universities/Institutes like
IIM (Ahmedabad). At present, more than 40 scholars are
pursuing their Ph.D work under the supervision of the
Department faculty members.
THEME OF THE SEMINAR
From the days of F.W. Teylor, the management science
has seen a number of changing waves, the recent being
the application of IT in management. The society is
changing very fast to become a knowledge society so also
the business and the economy. Now, creativity and
innovations are considered to be the core competencies
in the industry. The products, processes, services,
technologies and the ideas are changing very fast. The
change can be seen in all aspects of the business. The
business leaders are to change and cope with the
sweeping business changes going on around them.
Keeping in view the above phenomenon in businesses,
the Department of Business Administration has decided
to organize a National Seminar on the theme “Emerging
Trends in Business”. This Seminar is going to provide a
platform to the business professionals, academicians,
researchers and the students to discuss, exchange
views and present paper in the above said theme.
