A Member of the Marianist Family

We share this bread and cup.... ....and we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love, and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

(QAC Vision Statement)

From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places

through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

STEWARDSHIP & GIVING

Thirty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time: “And ‘to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself’ is worth more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.” (Mark 12:33). Of all the gifts that God gives us the one He wants the most is our heart. He wants us to share out of love, not out of obligation. Using our talent in parish ministry and contributing money to support our parish mission is important, but it’s more important to spend time in prayer with God daily and discern how He is calling us to be generous with all of our gifts. Not just the visible ones, but the invisible ones like love, mercy and forgiveness.

Thirty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time

Deuteronomy 6:2-6: The command to ‘fear the Lord’ conflicts in our minds with so much we have heard of God’s love and mercy. Think of it as a reverential awe, a profound respect, the creature before the Creator. The final paragraph is the Shema, the most essential declaration of the Jewish faith.

Hebrews 7:23-28: The comparison and contrast between the Jewish high priests and Jesus as high priest continues. Intercessions of the Temple priests in Jerusalem were temporary, but those of Jesus go on forever. Jesus is not like any other who served as high priest, but is the Chosen One, who gave up his exalted state and humbled himself for us.

Mark 12:28b-34: Jesus is joining the two commandments, quoting from Hebrew scriptures. A genuine self-respect and regard for oneself gives rise to healthy relationships with others.

Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us

Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT (CCHD) - has been an immeasurable blessing for thousands in our Archdiocese over the years. Agencies funded by CCHD have empowered more than 2,500 low-income people to break the cycle of poverty through such feats as finding jobs, responsibly reentering society after prison, educating youth, and securing decent housing and public services for their communities. Archbishop Dennis Schnurr appeals to the faithful this year: “Through the grants we make to well-vetted organizations, CCHD uniquely empowers those in poverty to identify their own needs and to become their own agents of positive change.” Please prayerfully and generously consider how you will give on Collection Weekend, Nov 18th. Your dollars are making real change! Visit www.usccb.org/cchd to learn more. Also check out the Archdiocesan CCHD website for more local information: www.catholiccincinnati.org/socialaction. CCHD DOLLARS ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN THE CINCINNATI ARCHDIOCESE!: Read about some of our great successes, including the stories of Greg of Victory Project in Dayton and Brandon of Community Matters in Cincinnati. Last year, CCHD invested in people by empowering 2,600 individuals who are breaking the cycle of poverty. This included: 127 individuals with barriers to employment became employed and were trained in financial and

life skills. 339 children and youth developed leadership skills and served their communities. 149 citizens organized their communities to make decisions putting people first. 687 women overcoming physical & emotional abuse through resources and mentoring. Three non-profit businesses owned by low-income entrepreneurs in Lower Price Hill, Over-the-

Rhine and Ripley (Brown County). Support and leadership trainings for young immigrants. Improvement of government services in addressing vacant housing and sewers.

gospel is the story of the great reversal – where the comfortable and complacent find judgment and the lowly find redemption. As Mary sang in the Magnificat, “He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly. The hungry he has filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty” (Lk 1:52-53). Real-life stories and parables throughout the gospel emphasize this message. The Great Reversal is seen in the shepherds in the field, Zacchaeus, Lazarus the poor man, the prodigal son and Jesus himself. Luke invites us to be humble so that the redeeming work of Jesus Christ can indeed save us. All are welcome to this free event. Registration not required.

FAVORITE QUOTE: "The goodness of God is the highest object of prayer, and it reaches down to our lowest need. It quickens our soul and gives it life, and makes it grow in grace and virtue." ~ St. Julian of Norwich

GETTING OLD: Know how to prevent sagging? Just eat till the wrinkles fill out. It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker. These days about half the stuff in my shopping cart says, 'For fast relief.'

SENILITY PRAYER: Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.
