Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation
Columbia, MO --(Ammoland.com)- The Scholastic Shooting Sports
Foundation (SSSF) announced today that Larry and Brenda Potterfield,
founders and owners of MidwayUSA, donated $1.6 Million Dollars to the
Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) and Scholastic Clay
Target Program (SCTP).
The donation was presented to the SSSF Executive Director, Russ
Arnold, and members of the SSSF Board on October 21st in Columbia,
MO at the MidwayUSA Corporate Headquarters.
Although the Potterfield name is synonymous with MidwayUSA, this
generous gift is a personal donation from Larry and Brenda Potterfield.
The purpose of the donation is to grow and sustain youth shooting
programs for as many high school and college students as possible.
“Brenda and I are proud to partner with the Scholastic
Shooting Sports Foundation to support getting more kids
involved in shooting sports today,” said Larry Potterfield,
Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA. “We strongly support
initiatives like this because we believe we have an obligation
to help change the future for the better.”
The only way to guarantee the future of the shooting sports is to attract
more young men and women and the Potterfields see SSSF as a major
player in accomplishing this necessary goal.
“Thanks to the generous support of people like Larry and
Brenda Potterfield, the Scholastic Shooting Sports
Foundation will be able to introduce the clay target sports to
more youth across the nation and give them the opportunity
to participate in high-quality team-based competitions like
SCTP,” said Russ Arnold, Executive Director of SSSF. “A
donation like this from the Potterfields will go a long way in
helping us achieve our mission of developing more young
shooters, and furthering the future of our sport.”
Larry and Brenda Potterfield founded both MidwayUSA and the
MidwayUSA Foundation and are strong advocates of the shooting sports
and use donations like this one to further opportunities for shooting
programs. MidwayUSA, which was founded and is owned by the
Potterfields, is the world leader in the distribution of shooting and
reloading supplies and equipment.
The Potterfields have a long history of generous support of shooting
organizations. In 2008, they established the MidwayUSA Foundation
with over a half-million dollar personal donation. The MidwayUSA
Foundation is a not-for-profit foundation that is designed to provide
financial support and backing for both training and education in
shooting, hunting, and outdoor skills, as well as firearms safety. The
Foundation’s first endowment was the creation of the Scholastic
Shooting Trust Fund, which was developed to provide alumni and
interested patrons with a way of financially contributing to the shooting
teams of various colleges and high schools.
About The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF)
The SSSF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational foundation. The purpose
of the foundation is to raise money to support and promote youth
development programs in the clay target shooting sports, and to provide
a positive and supportive program for assisting young athletes in their
growth and development as they tread life’s pathway toward becoming
productive and contributing members of society.
The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) is the vehicle used by the
foundation to make this happen. The SCTP is focused on providing,
promoting, and perpetuating opportunities for young athletes to safely
and enjoyably participate in a high-quality, team-based sport led by
trained and dedicated adult coaches focused on enhancing the personal
growth and development of their athletes.
The SSSF is responsible for all aspects of the Scholastic Clay Target
Program (SCTP) across the United States, including participant
registration, coaches, state advisors, state and national championships,
promotion, communications, websites, public relations and growth
strategies.

Article On Assault RiflesMisleading & BiasedNOV 22, 2010 04:13P.M.
The Buffalo New’s Article On Assault Rifles Misleading &
Biased
Shooters Committee on Political Education
Buffalo, NY --(Ammoland.com)- Another recent article on so called
“assault rifles” was very misleading and biased. The violent crime
problem should not focus on “too many guns on the street,” but rather
on too many criminals on the streets.
An automobile is dangerous only if there is an impaired, or illegal driver
behind the wheel. Guns are not dangerous unless they are in the hands of
those who are irresponsible or who have a bad attitude. Millions of
Americans have guns of all types and are not a problem because they are
honest, law-abiding people.
However, the article promoted a ban on guns that have only cosmetic
differences than those typically used for competition, hunting and home
defense.
If bans worked, Prohibition would have been the success story of the
Twentieth Century. It was the only Constitutional Amendment to be
repealed. If bans worked, we would not have a drug problem. Gun bans
also won’t work because criminals, who are the real problem, don’t obey
laws. It is more productive to focus on getting criminals off the streets.
Possession of any gun by a felon is a federal offense. Project Exile, which
has been little used in New York would automatically send a felon caught
with a gun to a federal prison for five years.
Illegal purchase of a firearm is also a federal crime, including the straw
purchases mentioned in the article. To solve a problem we have to define
the problem and the problem is criminals. Get them off the streets and
the problem is solved.

It’s Time For Gun Owners ofAmerica Membership To GrowNOV 22, 2010 03:55P.M.
After Big Wins In Elections, It’s Time For Gun Owners of
America Membership To Grow
Gun Owners of America
Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- Gun Owners of America was
able to help elect 5 new pro-gun members to the United States Senate
and more than 40 pro-gunners to the House of Representatives!
AND YOU MADE IT POSSIBLE. Thank you.
In an election where we were the ONLY NATIONAL GUN GROUP to
help many of these candidates, it highlights just how critical the gun
issue is to Americans, and how important you were to those victories.
GOA could not have done the work without the support of our members
— and now, more than ever, we need your help to double or even triple
our membership before 2012!!!
Why? Because 2012 will be a presidential election year and the radical
left wing in America will once again be “all in” for Barack Obama.
If they turn out their forces to help Obama win re-election, those voters
will translate down to votes for anti-gun members of Congress again, just
as they did in 2008.
We can’t let that happen without a fight.
Gun Owners of America and GOA Political Victory Fund used
limited resources this year to make great gains to protect the Second
Amendment. If you can help us grow now, by alerting your family,
friends and neighbors, to the work of GOA and the need for them to
become members, we will be able to win additional races in 2012!
Believe me, the anti-gun left in this nation has not given up. They see the
2010 election as a hiccup, not the end of the battle or the war. And we
can’t look at it that way either.
The bottom line in elections is that there is strength in numbers, and if
GOA doubles in size NOW, we can multiply what we did this year by
several times. That is real “bang for the buck.”
With our limited resources this year, we were able to travel around the
country giving the voting records of the pro-gun and anti-gun candidates
to their voters. We were able to make thousands of phone calls directly to
pro-gun voters in the target districts. We were able to send mailings and
e-mail alerts to our members to ask them to volunteer in key races.
And the payoff is those 5 new Senators and over 40 members of the
House I mentioned above.
But our work is far from over!
Anti-gun Harry Reid is still in control as the Majority Leader of the
United States Senate. Nancy Pelosi still wields her power in the House.
AND BARACK OBAMA IS STILL PRESIDENT!
As I said, we cannot sit back now and think we won the war. We won the
first battle over the Obama Administration and the radical left who still
hold the leadership in the Senate.
That’s why Gun Owners of America needs you.
There is a reason why Congressman Ron Paul calls GOA the only “no
compromise gun lobby in Washington.”
There is a reason why Senator Tom Coburn calls GOA the “real gun lobby
*123456* Lineitem #123456, tabblo #1, page 8 (8 of 21), generated 2010-11-23 01:22:00.452369 on g1t0237, dpi=225

9
in Washington D.C.”
And that reason is YOU!
Our members help put pressure on Congress every time we send one of
our alerts asking you to contact your representatives about gun
legislation.
When our lobbyists hit the halls of Congress and tell members we are
opposed or supportive of a bill, they know our membership will also let
them know WE ARE ALL WATCHING HOW THEY VOTE.
Just think how much more effective we can be if we double or triple our
membership in the next 12 months!
2010 has been the “easy year” when it comes to election gains. We went
out and picked the “low-hanging fruit.”
The races in 2012 will be for tougher districts, tougher candidates and
we’ll also be fighting the Obama factor — where the radical left-wing will
be pouring huge amounts of money and manpower to help make him a
two-term president.
So, if you’ve just sat back to enjoy the many victories of November 2nd,
DON’T!
WE NEED YOU!
You are our best salesperson to tell our story to your friends, neighbors
and everyone you communicate with around the country.
Tell them that for a small membership donation of $20 or $30, they can
be a major factor in not only stopping anti-gun laws… they can be part of
the organization that is fighting to repeal the anti-gun laws already on
the books.
I don’t care if they are hunters, shooters, collectors or just people who
understand that the Second Amendment is critical to all our other
freedoms, we need them as members of GOA.
And if they sign up to receive our GOA e-mail alerts, they can be part of
our lobbying team of people all over the country who call, write and e-
mail our elected leaders on important gun issues.
GOA and our members have stood alone many times when others
compromised, or said legislation or Presidential appointments could not
be stopped — and we have proved the naysayers wrong.
WE WILL NOT COMPROMISE — your rights are not “bargaining chips”
to be used at the negotiating table, and we will never treat them as such.
Don’t read this article on AmmoLand and do nothing. Pass it on to
everyone you know and ask them to join Gun Owners of America now by
going to:
http://www.gunowners.org/ordergoamem.htm
It will make a huge difference in the outcome of the 2012 elections and
the future of this nation. Thank you.

College President Insults Survivors Of America’s Second
Deadliest Mass Shooting
Students for Concealed Carry on Campus
Any Campus, USA --(Ammoland.com)- Dr. Bill Holda, president of
Kilgore College in Kilgore, TX, will have to do some fast backpedaling if
he’s to have any hope of outrunning his recent comments about the 1991
massacre at a Luby’s Cafeteria in Killeen, TX – the second deadliest mass
shooting in U.S. history, surpassed only by the 2007 Virginia Tech
massacre.
Dr. Holda recently angered both survivors of the shooting and concealed
carry advocates by claiming that some of the victims of the massacre
(which became a rallying cry for supporters of lawful self-defense)
actually shot each other.
Six days after the November 2 elections, Texas State Representative-
Elect David Simpson (R-Longview) pre-filed a bill that would allow
holders of state-issued concealed handgun licenses to carry concealed
handguns on Texas college campuses. This did not sit well with Dr.
Holda, who chastised the move as “unfortunate and ill-advised”i and
criticized Simpson for filing the bill without first consulting him. Holda
proclaimed, “What we want is for representatives to file legislation
based on a good body of information.”ii
As an example of the type of information he believes Simpson failed to
consider, Holda pointed to the Luby’s massacre, telling a local TV
station, “[During the Luby’s massacre] you had multiple shooters, and
innocent people were killed by other people who had concealed, licensed
handguns, because they weren’t sure who was the shooter and who was
a defender.”iii
Holda’s frightening depiction of the 1991 mass shooting suffers from
only one flaw: It is a complete and total fabrication that lacks even a hint
of truth. The State of Texas did not begin issuing or honoring concealed
handgun licenses until 1996, five years after the Luby’s massacre. At the
time of the shooting, state law made it a serious crime for anyone other

than a law enforcement officer to carry a handgun. All of the victims (23
killed, 20 wounded) were shot by the lone gunman himself.
Bill Holda’s grievous misstatement of fact is not sitting well with at least
one survivor of the Luby’s massacre. After watching her parents die in
the attack, Dr. Suzanna Gratia Hupp became one of America’s leading
advocates for the legalization of concealed carry. She testified before
Congress and several state legislatures that she very well could have
stopped the gunman had she not been required to leave her gun in her
car.
Dr. Hupp, a former Texas State Representative and the
author of From Luby’s to the Legislature, responded to
Holda’s comments by stating, “I’m not sure which is more
offensive, the apparent complete fabrication of Dr. Holda’s
Luby’s Cafeteria story or the lack of journalistic effort by the
reporter to correct his fictional tale.” Addressing Bill Holda
directly, Hupp added, “Dr. Holda, the only person who had a
gun was the madman slaughtering those around me like fish
in a barrel. I defy you to name one place in this country where
a mass shooting has occurred despite the people there being
allowed to carry concealed handguns for protection. These
madmen go where they know they will get a high body
count.”
Bill Holda’s statement about the Luby’s massacre is unparalleled in its
audacity, but it is not the only time he has stumbled over the facts, in his
rush to speak out against the pending “campus carry” bill. Holda
recently accusediv Texas legislators of hypocritically pushing campus
carry legislation while refusing to allow concealed handguns in the
House and Senate galleries. In reality, licensed concealed carry is now
allowedv throughout the Texas Capitol, including in the chamber
galleries.
Dr. Holda also describedvi Simpson’s legislation as an unfunded
mandate and suggested that the bill is not in keeping with a fiscally
conservative agenda, despite the fact that no provision of the bill places
any fiscal demands on colleges or universities. The bill, as written, would
simply place colleges and universities under the same rules as churches,
movie theaters, shopping malls, office buildings, grocery stores,
restaurants, banks, etc.
Dr. Bill Holda is not shy about his belief that he should have been
consulted prior to the filing of this bill, yet everything he has said on the
subject has been not only wrong but monumentally and offensively
wrong. By repeatedly demonstrating his ignorance of the facts, Bill
Holda serves as a perpetual rebuttal to his own assertion that college
officials, not state legislators, are best equipped to determine whether or
not licensed concealed carry should be allowed on Texas college
campuses.
W. Scott Lewis, Texas legislative director for Students for
Concealed Carry on Campus, lamented, “I can only assume
that this is what we have to look forward to from the ivory
tower academics who claim to know what’s best for the adults
working and studying at state-funded colleges.”
Lewis then added, “I can’t imagine that Dr. Holda is anxious
to make any more public statements on this issue, but if he is
serious about wanting a ‘good body of information,’ or if he
just wants another opportunity to stick his foot in his mouth,
my organization would welcome the opportunity to hold an
open debate on the Kilgore College campus.”

Lawsuit Filed Against PostOffice Gun BanNOV 22, 2010 02:59P.M.
Lawsuit Filed Against Post Office Gun Ban
National Association for Gun Rights
Colorado -–(Ammoland.com)- If there’s anything that makes a
concealed carry permit holder upset, its criminal safezones.
A criminal safezone is where only criminals are safe, because armed self
defense is banned. That’s why the National Association for Gun Rights
has filed a lawsuit against the United State Postal Service.
The U.S. Postal Service uses bureaucratic rules to ban your right to carry
in a Post Office, and that’s important, even if you don’t carry concealed
–- it’s the camel’s nose under the tent.
You see, the U.S. Postal Service claims citizens don’t have the right to self
defense in Post Offices.
There’s one problem with that claim: it isn’t true.
The law cited by the Post Office creates an exception for “lawful carrying
of firearms” for “other lawful purposes.” On top of that, both the Heller
and McDonald Supreme Court decisions guarantee “the individual right
to possess and carry weapons in case of confrontation.”
Sounds like it should be simple, right?
Lawsuit Filed Against Post Office Gun Ban
Well, no government bureaucracy ever gave up power without a fight.
And, given the anti-gun nature of the Obama administration, we know
they aren’t going to instruct the Postal service properly.
So I assumed you’d want your organization to act… and quickly.
Do you support this lawsuit on behalf of law-abiding citizens for their
self defense?
I sincerely hope so. I know, personally, it infuriates me to be disarmed
just because I’m picking up my mail.
But imagine how Debbie Bonidy feels. Debbie and Tab Bonidy live in the
mountains of Colorado, and are the plaintiffs –- along with the National
Association for Gun Rights –- against the Postal Service.
Debbie Bonidy doesn’t like going anywhere without her personal
handgun, which is why she went through the trouble of being trained,
proving she’s law-abiding, and getting her concealed carry permit. Not
only does the U.S. Postal Service say she can’t carry that handgun for self
protection in a Post Office, but they arrogantly claim she can’t even leave
it in her car when in their lot.
If we win this lawsuit, that outrageous policy will change in every Post
Office in America.

Dudley Brown

P.S. I hope you will support our lawsuit against the Postal Services’ ban
on self-defense.
We’ve already filed the suit against the Post Office, and if we win, they’ll
be forced to allow legally authorized citizens to carry in Post Offices
across the country.

Second AmendmentFoundation Sues NJ OfficialsFor Gun Permit DenialsNOV 22, 2010 02:39P.M.
Second Amendment Foundation Sues NJ Officials For
‘Deprivation Of Civil Rights’ On Gun Permit Denials
Second Amendment Foundation
BELLEVUE, WA --(Ammoland.com)- The Second Amendment
Foundation today filed suit in U.S. District Court for the District of New
Jersey against several New Jersey officials for deprivation of civil rights
under color of law.
SAF is joined in the lawsuit by the Association of New Jersey Rifle &
Pistol Clubs, Inc. and six private citizens whose applications for permits
to carry have been denied generally on the grounds that they have not
shown a “justifiable need.”
One of the plaintiffs is a kidnap victim, another is a part-time sheriff’s
deputy, a third carries large amounts of cash in his private business and
another is a civilian employee of the FBI in New Jersey who is fearful of
attack from a radical Islamic fundamentalist group.
Plaintiffs are represented by attorneys David D. Jensen and Robert P.
Firriolo with the firm of Duane Morris, LLP in Newark.
Named as defendants in the case are three Superior Court judges, Philip
J. Maenza, Morris County; Rudolph A. Filko, Passaic County and
Edward A. Jerejian of Bergen County, plus Col. Rick Fuentes,
superintendent of the State Police, Hammonton Police Chief Frank
Ingemi and New Jersey Attorney General Paula T. Dow.
“Law-abiding New Jersey citizens have been arbitrarily
deprived of their ability to defend themselves and their
families for years under the state’s horribly-crafted laws,”
said SAF Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb.
“The law grants uncontrolled discretion to police chiefs and
other public officials to deny license applications even in
cases where the applicant has shown a clear and present
danger exists.
“If being a kidnap victim, or part-time law enforcement
officer, or the potential target of a known radical group does
not clearly demonstrate a justifiable need,” he continued, “the
defendants need to explain what would. Do citizens need
guns to their heads or knives to their throats before the state
considers their need to be justified?
“Supreme Court rulings have made it clear that the Second
Amendment prohibits states from completely banning the
carrying of handguns for self-defense,” Gottlieb said. “Nor
may states deny citizens the right to carry handguns in non-
sensitive places or deprive them of the right to carry in an
arbitrary and capricious manner.
That’s what is happening today in New Jersey, and we intend
to stop it.”
The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nation’s oldest
and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action
group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own
and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to
more than 650,000 members and supporters and conducts many
programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of
gun control. SAF has previously funded successful firearms-related suits
against the cities of Los Angeles; New Haven, CT; and San Francisco on
behalf of American gun owners, a lawsuit against the cities suing gun
makers and an amicus brief and fund for the Emerson case holding the
Second Amendment as an individual right.

Maryland NPR RemindsHunters To Stay Safe DuringFirearm Deer SeasonNOV 22, 2010 02:21P.M.
Maryland NPR Reminds Hunters To Stay Safe During Firearm
Deer Season
Maryland Department of Natural Resources
Annapolis, MD --(Ammoland.com)- The Maryland Natural Resources
Police (NRP) encourages hunters to put safety first as this year’s firearm
deer season opens November 27, the day with the greatest concentration
of hunters afield.
“Tree stand incidents account for most hunting accidents,”
said NRP Superintendent Colonel George G. Johnson IV.
“There have already been three tree stand related hunting
fatalities this hunting season.”
All hunters should use a full-body safety harness that keeps the hunter
tethered to the tree and prevents a fall to the ground. NRP reminds
hunters to inspect their safety equipment prior to use and replace any
worn or broken pieces. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources
(DNR) has produced a helpful video, demonstrating how to use a tree
stand and full-body safety harness that can be viewed above.
The improper use of weapons has been another cause of accidents.
Hunters should inspect, be familiar with, and practice with the weapon
that is to be used prior to the start of the hunt.
When handling a weapon, hunters should always follow two
cardinal rules:
• Treat every gun as if it is loaded and never point the firearm at
anything unless intending to shoot.
• Positively identify the intended target and make sure the area
beyond is devoid of other hunters or property before the trigger is
pulled.
Before hunting, all hunters should follow these laws and
regulations before they go hunting:
• Hunters must obtain and possess a hunting license while hunting.
• A course in firearms and hunter safety is required for those who
did not hunt prior to July 1, 1977.
• Hunters must possess written permission from landowner before
hunting on private property.
• Hunters and companions must wear a fluorescent cap or outer
garment that contains 250 square-inches of fluorescent orange
color.
• Possessing loaded weapons in a vehicle is prohibited. This includes
ammunition in the magazine or chamber.
• It is illegal to shoot or hunt from or across a roadway.
• Hunting within 150 yards of a residence, camp or other building is
prohibited without advance permission of owner or occupant.
• Before removing the deer from the location of the kill, a field tag
must be filled out and attached to the deer. It must be recorded on
the hunter’s Big Game Harvest Record.
• Hunters must check-in the deer within 24 hours of field tagging to
the Department of Natural Resources via the internet at
www.gamecheck.dnr.state.md.us or the call the Big Game
Registration phone line at 1-888-800-0120. The confirmation
number must then be entered onto the Big Game Harvest Record.
Citizens are encouraged to call the Natural Resources Police
Communication Center at 800-628-9944 with poaching complaints,
public lands enforcement questions or maritime enforcement questions.

Nevada Conservation Projects Selected for Elk Foundation
Grants
Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation
MISSOULA, Mont. --(Ammoland.com)-More than 3,900 acres in
Nevada are slated to be enhanced for elk and other wildlife as a result of
several projects selected to receive 2010 grants from the Rocky Mountain
Elk Foundation.
The new RMEF funding, totaling $58,330, also includes an education
project grant that will benefit schoolteachers and students in Nevada.
“”We’re proud to continue our long tradition of funding
outstanding conservation and education projects in Nevada,
thanks to our volunteers across the state and their dedicated
work in organizing and hosting banquets and other
fundraisers over the past year,” said David Allen, RMEF
president and CEO. “Since 1984, our grants have helped
complete 184 different projects in Nevada with a combined
value of more than $14.8 million.””
This year’s RMEF grants will help fund the following projects:
Habitat Enhancement
In the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, RMEF grants will be used to
help thin 1,500 acres of pinyon-juniper invasion in shrub habitat used as
summer range by elk in the White Pine Mountains area; install two
1,800-gallon tanks, water collection devices and wildlife drinking
mechanisms to improve two 640-acre sections of the White Pine/Grant-
Quinn Range; and prescribe burn 1,000 acres and hand-thin 350 acres to
remove conifer encroachment in sagebrush habitat in North Schell Creek
area.
Conservation Education
RMEF is providing sponsorship for the Great Basin 2010 Teachers
Workshop to help instructors and, by extension, students better
understand the wildlife, biology, ecology, geology, archaeology and
history of the region.
Another RMEF grant will be used to help with appraisal of a property
being considered for acquisition, which would permanently protect
habitat and open public access.
Habitat projects are selected for grants using science-based criteria and a
committee of RMEF volunteers and staff along with representatives from
partnering agencies and universities. A committee of RMEF field staff
and volunteers selects education projects.
Partners for 2010 projects in Nevada include the Bureau of Land
Management, Nevada Department of Wildlife, U.S. Forest Service, other
organizations, agencies and landowners.
About the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation:
Snowy peaks, dark timber basins and grassy meadows. RMEF is leading
an elk country initiative that has conserved or enhanced habitat on over
5.8 million acres—a land area equivalent to a swath three miles wide and
stretching along the entire Continental Divide from Canada to Mexico.
RMEF also works to open, secure and improve public access for hunting,
fishing and other recreation. Get involved at www.rmef.org or 800-CALL

Friends of NRA Announces 2011Gun of the YearNOV 22, 2010 12:44P.M.
Friends of NRA Announces 2011 Gun of the Year
Friends of NRA 2011 Gun of the Year
Friends of NRA
Charlotte, NC --(Ammoland.com)- Thanks to collaboration with Colt
and Baron’s Engraving, Friends of NRA is pleased to announce the 2011
Gun of the Year: a custom made Colt 1911 that honors the firearm’s 100
years of service in the United States Armed Forces and will be a great
addition to any firearm enthusiast’s collection.
Following its success in trials, the Colt pistol was formally adopted by the
Army in the year 1911, thus gaining its designation as the Colt Model
1911. Later adopted by both the Navy and Marine Corps in 1913, the
high-demand for the pistol during both World Wars undoubtedly led to
its universal popularity today.
The Colt 1991TM Series is a direct descendant of the original 1911A1 and
after more than nine decades many consider it the standard which has
often been imitated, but never duplicated. The pistol dually serves as
both a staple of the military and as an iconic symbol for it. After two
years in development and in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the 1911
model, the combined efforts of Friends of NRA, Colt Manufacturing and
Baron’s Engraving bring you the exclusive 2011 Friends of NRA Gun of
the Year – A unique Colt Model 01991Z Government .45ACP with
commemorative engraving illustrating every major war in which the Colt
prevailed.
“It was an honor working with two respected, American
owned companies to develop this exclusive pistol for Friends
of NRA events,” said John DaSilva, National Manager of
Events and Marketing.
“We know our volunteers are very excited and pleased with
the opportunity to feature the Colt 1911 pistol at fundraising
events beginning in 2011.”
The 2011 Gun of the Year is custom made with a 24 karat gold plated
barrel bushing and screws on the grip panels and ornate embellished
slides. The serpentine Colt logo and “2011 Gun of the Year” text is
featured in a 24 karat selective gold fill on the right side of the firearm’s
slide with sculpted roll engraving boasting a scrolling banner with the
phrase “Military U.S. Standard” alongside the names of every major war
it participated in. The left side slide features the rampant Colt horse and
“Colt 1911 100 Years” embellished in 24kt gold fill and sculpted roll
engraving showcasing four military vehicles used by the U.S. throughout
wartime.
Offered only at your local Friends of NRA events, each pistol has a 5”
barrel, carbon steel polished blued finish, 7+1 capacity, standard grip
safety, spur hammer and custom rosewood grips with an NRA medallion
recessed on both panels. Every specially produced Colt commemorative
pistol in this limited edition is individually serialized in sequential order
from “1911NRA0000” through “1911NRA1150.” Each is encased in a Colt
Blue Custom Shop box with white sleeve and can be added to your
existing Colt collection.
Friends of NRA is a grassroots fund-raising program that fosters
community involvement, raises money, and gives 100 percent of the net
proceeds to qualified local, state, and national programs. Working with
the NRA’s field staff, thousands of volunteers nationwide participate in
the program by organizing committees and planning events in their
communities. Over the course of its history, over 12,000 events have
been held which have reached over two million attendees. Monies raised
at these events go to The NRA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable
organization.

Michigan Department of Natural Resources
Michigan --(Ammoland.com)- The Department of Natural Resources
and Environment today announced the furbearer registration hours at
DNRE Field Offices and Operations Service Centers statewide for the
2010-2011 season.
Anyone taking a bobcat, river otter, fisher or marten must bring the
animal to a designated furbearer check station for examination. DNRE
staff members collect biological data from the harvested animals,
including sex, age and physical condition of the specimen. An official seal
is then attached to each pelt to show it has been inspected.
“Registration for these furbearers is mandatory, as the
information gathered helps us determine proposed bag limits
and season structure for the future,” said DNRE furbearer
specialist Adam Bump. “Cooperation from trappers and
hunters in this effort is appreciated.”

Wisconsin Gun OwnersTo FightFor Constitutional CarryNOV 22, 2010 10:56A.M.
Wisconsin Gun Owners To Fight For Constitutional Carry
Will a new republican majority in the Wisconsin legislature restore
your right to bear arms? Not without your pressure, they won’t.
Constitutional Carry
Wisconsin Gun Owners
Madison, Wis. --(Ammoland.com)- With sweeping Republican
victories all across Wisconsin, our chance to seize the moment for
concealed carry is now.
On Nov. 2, State Republicans clinched the “Super Trifecta” by winning
majorities in the Wisconsin House, Senate and the Governor’s seat.
We now have every opportunity in the world to restore our right to carry.
But there’s one problem. Without intense grassroots pressure, these
politicians will sell you out and won’t lift a finger to fight on your behalf.
If you don’t believe me, click here to see the long list of those who oppose
your right to carry. That’s right. They think they can throw you a few
crumbs and you’ll turn a blind eye to this mistreatment.
Well, that’s not going to fly. Allow me to explain.
There are two forms of concealed carry we could lobby for:
Constitutional Carry (known as Vermont- or Alaska Carry) and “Shall-
Issue” carry.
• Constitutional Carry treats your right to bear arms as the
Constitution expressly says it should … as an inalienable right.
• Shall-Issue concealed carry, on the other hand, requires a permit,
fee, background check and usually a law enforcement agency to
“issue” you a permit.
There is no reason why Wisconsin gun owners shouldn’t demand a
complete and total repeal of the ban on carrying concealed handguns
now that Republicans (who claim to be pro-gun) control our legislature.
Even so, there is little doubt in my mind that Republicans will do as
they’ve always done: Grovel at the feet of anti-gun groups, snatching
victory from the jaws of defeat …
… unless you and I and thousands of other WGO members
across Wisconsin demand republicans support a clean bill.
And the only way that will happen is if you take action today.
Now, we believe we need two forms of concealed carry in Wisconsin.
Why not offer permits as an option for those who want one so they can
travel armed to other states?
But for those who don’t believe the right to bear arms should be licensed,
Constitutional Carry would mean those folks simply carry here in
Wisconsin without a permit.
My question to you is, will you work with me and key legislators to
ensure concealed carry legislation gets passed when the new legislative
session begins?
Please act right away. I’m anxiously awaiting your reply.
Very Truly Yours,
Corey Signature Corey Graff Executive Director
About:
WGO works for grassroots gun owners, not politicians. While many gun
lobbies fight for “reasonable gun control,” WGO sets a higher standard:
Defining the terrain of pro-gun political battle. Sure, many groups claim
they’re “pro-gun” — all the while they provide cover for anti-gun deals
cut by politicians — but only WGO truly informs gun owners, remaining
committed to a 100% pro-gun position. We oppose all gun control —

Smith & Wesson
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--(Ammoland.com)- Smith & Wesson Holding
Corporation (NASDAQ: SWHC), parent company of Smith & Wesson
Corp., the legendary 158-year old company in the global business of
safety, security, protection and sport, announced today the Nevada
Department of Public Safety (DPS) has chosen to equip its officers with
new patrol rifles from Smith & Wesson.
The Nevada DPS has received 500 M&P15X tactical rifles to complete the
agency’s full conversion to the new Smith & Wesson firearms. Nevada
DPS joins a number of law enforcement agencies that have converted to
Smith & Wesson tactical rifles, including the Nebraska State Patrol,
which also recently selected duty rifles from the Company’s M&P Series.
Nevada DPS
During the department’s selection process for a new patrol rifle, the
Nevada DPS made a decision to change from the individual authorized
carry program to a single operating system and platform for all of its
officers.
The Nevada DPS tested several manufacturers’ rifles during the
evaluation period and ultimately selected the Smith & Wesson
M&P15X tactical rifle. Officials indicated that the M&P15X was
standard with several of their preferred features including a quad-rail
forend for multiple accessory attachment points, a folding battle sight
and a gas operated system.
Along with the 500 M&P15X rifles, Smith & Wesson provided the
Nevada DPS with a training and armorers course package. As the
department continues its full conversion over to the new Smith &
Wesson rifles, officers will complete a certification course before being
issued the new patrol rifle.
Nebraska State Patrol
After an extensive testing and evaluation period that involved eight
different firearm manufacturers and 17 different submissions, the
Nebraska State Patrol decided to equip its officers with M&P15 tactical
rifles. During the review period, the Nebraska State Patrol acknowledged
the M&P15 rifle for its accuracy, high quality components, and ability to
operate reliably throughout frequent firing. The department also noted
that the semi-automatic rifle was fully supported with training and
attentive customer service from Smith & Wesson.
Smith & Wesson recently completed shipments of 475 M&P15 rifles to
the Nebraska State Patrol. Officers have completed certification courses
and the M&P15 rifle is currently in service.
“The decision by both the Nevada DPS and the Nebraska
State Patrol to convert to our M&P15 rifles continues to
reinforce the positive reputation that these firearms have
earned with police forces throughout the United States,” said
Leland Nichols, Vice President of Global Sales for Smith &
Wesson.
“Today, we offer over 16 variants of the M&P15 rifle, each
designed with a specific set of features needed to address
different military and law enforcement requirements. Much
like the success that the M&P pistol has achieved, the M&P
Rifle Series is clearly winning the confidence of law
enforcement officers.”

Kowa Genesis 44 Whitetail Binoculars
Kowa USA
Los Angeles, California --(Ammoland.com)- The Kowa Genesis 44 is
building a reputation as the best whitetail binocular on the market and
for good reason.
The Genesis series binoculars are the first binoculars to use Prominar
XD lenses. The pure fluorite crystal of Koa’s Prominar lens are paired
with convex lenses made of glass with special dispersion properties to
reduce chromatic aberration lifting optical quality to an amazing height.
Even in the challenging light of dawn and dusk, this binocular produces
clear and sharp views of deer at a distance.
Kowa Genesis 44 Whitetail Binoculars
These high performance binoculars use advanced technology to create a
brighter image with high contrast and remarkable color reproduction
that can’t be duplicated by a normal achromatic lens.
The Genesis 44 is waterproof and filled with dry nitrogen gas to prevent
the lens from fogging.
The prism is phase coated to insure sharp images and outstanding
contrast.
The binoculars feature C3 coating, which is far superior to aluminum or
silver coating, for super bright and sharp images.
The Genesis 44 boasts a wide field of view, which is ideal for open range
hunting and its close focus range on 5 feet is perfect for observing brushy
wood thickets.
The magnesium alloy body decreases the weight of the binocular while
