SUMMER 2011 Teams in Brasov

July 2011 – September 2011

Dear friends,

It has been a full and exciting summer! And I just wanted to give a glimpse of the many highlights that we have had here in sunny Brasov!

I have been here since July and had a different team

almost every week from many churches and backgrounds and it has been incredible!

This is brief as it has been such a full time so for more stories, please email me! [email protected]

Two of the teams that came ended up painting not just the planned one room but four FLOORS worth of the regional children’s hospital! Before we knew it, the walls of this hospital where so many are abandoned, were covered in cartoons, animals, nemo, space ships and a beautiful window.

Such was the response to this project and those who came, the staff of the hospital have requested we come back and repaint the entire neuro / psychiatric ward! This is a really big honor and we will be looking to come back either later this year or early next. Interested?

The following weeks contained a wonderful brief visit from a photographer friend who stopped off via Mongolia. Also during this time were two budding photographers from the UK so we had a photography week!

We got the opportunity to go to the Roma (gypsy) village, the baby hospital, to a dance project for teenage girls and all around Brasov! We also went to the farms and led photography-based workshops for the children.

One of the things we were most excited about was the project to give each child (or pair of children) a disposable camera and ask them to take pictures of things they think are beautiful, their families and their houses. We also took family portraits. Thank you to all who gave towards the development of the films and frames, the families and children are so grateful as, of course, am I.

Supporting yet another charity that is working here, I took two teams into some farm projects which as villages with supported living.

The children had fun making, drawing, painting and creating…as did we! They were taught about the love of God and how He sees them as treasures just as the things they made were treasures to them.

When we got to the farm the first time we were welcomed with armfuls of flower bouquets and a family of eight gave up their two room house for us to run projects in. We were so undone by their welcome and generosity.

Charities running these projects longterm include: www.hftn.ro and www.firmfoundationsromania.com

Thanks to both for their generosity and welcome.

Last, but by far the most important, the prayer house.

We believe entirely that all fruitfulness flows from intimacy with God (H. Baker) and every team has been part of our twice daily prayer routine which has been such an amazing time.

This final week we have set up a temporary creative prayer room in the attic of the international school I teach at occasionally (www.ggis.ro). During the week of teacher training, a group from the UK made up primarily of young people, have worshipped and prayed solidly for hours upon end. Four hour and six hour stretches for days, creating, painting, praying and worshipping.

One of the mandates of the prayer house, through projects and primarily prayer, is to support the local missionaries here. This week we prayed for all those we know who are serving this city. Many tears, healings and rejoicing followed and God brought so

Prayer House…the present and the future much breakthrough, love and His sweet presence.

We are so moved by God’s goodness and for the honor to be able to bless and worship with His children here, seeing back pains, neck problems and headaches disappear!

Future For the moment, I am returning to Southampton for the next 6 months to work at the convent and spend some time working and preparing for next year.

I will be looking to take a team possibly in November and March to paint the hospital and for worship projects. If you would like to be kept up to date about these teams or have more information on being part of one, please email me at [email protected] I’d love to hear from you!

As always, than your love, prayers and support. I love and value you all!

In Jesus, Claire x
