your photograph order from Lifetouch Photog-

raphy. I hope you are happy with your order. If

you have a specific problem, please notify me. I

have been in contact with Lifetouch to learn that

the processing of some of the photographs has

been delayed. Lifetouch is working on the orders.

mation. Thank you for your patience.

Youth and Families Spark Sunday School is for children ages three

through grade five. Each week, we enjoy hands on

activities that help children understand and re-

member stories from the SPARK Story Bible. This

month we are learning about the Battle of Jericho.

Last week we built a delicious wall of brownies and

knocked it down! This week, we will have creative

drama with Ms. Sally.

ECHO is a for middle school students, and meets in

the cave during worship.

loved ones. The saints photo table will be on dis-

area. Please pickup your photos at the end of the

2020 Stewardship Update

On Thursday October 31st letters announcing the

2020 Annual Stewardship Campaign and pledge

cards were mailed to church members. Members

began receiving their letters on November 1st. We

learned earlier this week that that was a glitch in

generating the mailing labels so a small number of

members may not have received the stewardship

information. If you have not received your letter and

pledge card they are available on the table in the

reception area. Please take this opportunity to pick

up the information and plan to return your pledge

card on Stewardship Commitment Weekend,

November 16 and 17.

A NOTE FROM PASTOR LINDA

“Now to him who by the power at work within us is

able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can

ask or imagine …” Ephesians 3:20

It is that time of year again in the life of the church

when we look forward, beyond Thanksgiving and

Christmas, to the new year ahead. What will 2020 look

like here at BBPC? Quite frankly it is hard to imagine

what the next year will have in store. All we know for

certain is change is in the air.

In 2020 we will say “goodbye and thank you” to Tom Rodgers and hello to an interim Director of Music. We will also be thanking Sally Zeiner for her transitional

work with our children and youth and welcoming a per-manent, part-time Director of Christian Education on board. We will be wrapping up our Capital Campaign

tackling repairs to the windows and updating church signage and lighting. But we will also be doing the

things we have always done and done well … fostering a welcoming and supportive community of

faith and reaching beyond our walls to love and care for the world around us.

Our staff will change, but our mission will not. We will remain faithful to the God who has been so

faithful to us. We will worship with joy. We will welcome with open arms. We will care deeply and

love tangibly. And we will give of ourselves generously, of our time, talent and treasure to a God who

sees the future clearly, even when we can’t, and who will work in the through us in ways beyond our

wildest dreams.

On the weekend of November 16 & 17th you are encouraged to say, “Yes!” to God’s plan for our new

year ahead though an act of fearless generosity, by offering your financial pledge for 2020. Your

pledge makes it possible for the Session to plan responsibly for the challenges that lie ahead; the hiring

of staff, the support of programing, the maintenance of the building, the paying of utilities, and faithful-

ness to our mission. We hope to walk bolding into 2020 with high expectations and generous resources.

That can only happen if help make it happen by sharing with us your anticipated financial giving for

the coming year.

Please join us next weekend and bring your pledge card with you. During the closing hymn you will be

invited to bring your pledge card forward to drop it in the basket. This weekend our church officers,

elders and deacons will lead the way offering their pledges. Let’s give without fear, trusting God for

our future!

A pledge to the church is not a legal obligation. You can amend your pledge if your circumstances

change by contacting one of the church Financial Secretaries (John O’Melia or Judy Wahrenberger). It is, however, a good faith statement of your intention for the future and essential to the process of

planning for the coming year.

Capital Campaign Update

Progress – Progress – Progress

The capital campaign committee continues its work in

support of your pledges and gifts for capital improve-

ments to enhance the utility and beauty of our church

home. Good progress has been made in recent months

and a summary of our progress is available in a three-

page report in the church reception area for your review.

The report includes a financial summary including pro-

ject specific financials, a project summary and infor-

mation on new project activity planned for 2020. Thank

you for your continued support of the capital campaign.

Episodes from Emmie, Part 3

Hello from a suddenly very cold Minnesota!

It was great to see some of you, even just for a moment,

when I came home a few weekends ago for two weddings.

I’ve got more traveling coming up for more weddings, and I

come home for Christmas(!!!), but I’ve made many more

memories in Minnesota since the last time I wrote.

At work, my responsibilities keep increasing. Now, I have

about 40 patients at a time plus whatever other referrals

come in for me! (If my mentor isn’t at work, I have 60.) I’ve

started doing overnight on-call shifts once a week, too, during

which I’m responsible for more than 1,400 patients and their

families. Mayo Clinic is a wild place to work. It’s a last stop for

many people who have been told elsewhere that their

conditions are too complicated to continue treating – or who

haven’t been able to get diagnosed at all – so I meet many

people who have taken long and winding journeys to get

here. I felt similarly confused and lost when I went to

Mayo myself three years ago. It’s powerful to be back, do

this unique and meaningful work, and feel like I get better

at my job each week.

Outside of work, my life continues to be busy, full, and rich with friends and opportunities. It became

winter practically overnight and the wind here is strong, so I no longer go biking, but there are fun

things to do inside. Most of my free time is happily spent at my apartment building with friends, cook-

ing, hanging out in the den, and swapping life stories. We do go out sometimes, and we spent the last

warm weekend in Minneapolis for an overnight trip. It was great to celebrate the exciting successes of

some of my friends, as well as mourn the departure of one of my dearest friends here. I don’t know who

will walk into my life or return to their original homes on any given day in my building because of how

often people come and go once their internship, fellowship, or residency at Mayo is over. I have many

people to stay with in my future travels!

So much love to each and every one of you,

Emmie

Some of my friends and me in the beautiful

AirBnB we rented in Minneapolis. It was right

along the Mississippi River!

I continue to decorate my room and

make it feel more like home.

My fellow chaplain residents and I did a special

project where we shared stories from our lives

and filled the painful cracks with gold, just like

in the Japanese art form Kintsugi.

Ninth Annual Veteran’s Day Service

Sunday, November 10, 2019, at 2:00pm

TO CHURCHES IN AND AROUND BOUND BROOK

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church offers a service to recognize all service members who are active,

retired, or deceased. We extend an open invitation to join us at St. Paul’s Church for our

Ninth Annual Veteran’s Day Service on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at 2:00pm.

A booklet is produced that lists each church and individuals with the names of the service

members affiliated with your church and families. Each name is read aloud during the service,

preferably by a clergy person, a Veteran, his/her family member, or by a member from your

church. We strongly encourage you to send a representative and members to this service.

A free-will offering is taken and donated to a selected military facility chosen by the com-

mittee. Please join us as we honor those we love who have served or continue to serve our

great country. They give so much, allowing us to enjoy our many freedoms.

Following the service we gather in Rennell Hall where a table is available for Veteran memo-

rabilia. We encourage additional items from your families to share with each other.

Light refreshments are also available during the fellowship gathering in our Hall.

The contact person at St. Paul’s is our Secretary, Sheri, at (732) 356-0247, or email

[email protected]. Please review the booklet for corrections or additions and contact

Sheri no later than October 27th. We look forward to your participation on this special day.

In Grateful Remembrance,

Rev. Kristen Foley
