The son blamed the father. They did not speak to each other again. Then the father became seriously ill. The mother called the son and told him he had better come soon. Remember the last things. Stop hating. Live by the commandments. As Saint Paul writes to the Romans, we are to live for the Lord and die for the Lord.

—Leopoldo Lugones

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

Good week to you all. As we reached the middle of September, the Knights want to remind you to enjoy today’s pancake breakfast and don't forget about the Fourth Degree Oktoberfest on the 7th of October. The Knights will sponsor our second Walk-a-Thon around the Saint Patrick’s campus on Saturday October 21st from 9:30am to 2pm. This is a great opportunity to help any of the ministries here at our church. You can sign their pledge sheet or enjoy the morning by walking around our beautiful church. There will be food to help reenergize you after the walk. Please talk to any member of the ministry you would like to help. This is for a great cause. Please, if you are able to, do participate. Thank you once again, brothers and sisters.

God bless, Jose Garcia, Grand Knight

COLLECTION FOR THE VICTIMS OF THE HURRICANES “In my distress I called upon the Lord and cried out to my God: From his temple God heard my voice and my cry reached God’s ears. 2 Samuel 22:7.” Let us pray for and be mindful of all those suffering from the storms and flooding along the Gulf Coast [and the Atlantic Ocean].— J.S. Paluch Company

Next weekend, September 23rd and 24th, we will have a second collection to aid the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. We are called to be of service to our brothers and sisters at all times, but in this time of suffering and inability of our brothers and sisters, we can show our economic support and solidary. We thank you in advance for your generosity and let us continue to pray for all those affected by these hurricanes.

CATECHETICAL SUNDAY ~ LIVING AS MISSIONARY DISCIPLES

Prayer for Catechists

O God, our Heavenly Father, you have given us the gift of these catechists to be heralds of the Gospel to our parish family. We lift them up to you in thanksgiving and intercede for them concerning their hopes and needs. May we be attentive to the presence of your Word in them, a Word that lifts up and affirms, calls forth and challenges, is compassionate and consoles. We pray that our parish family will always be blessed with those who have responded to the call to share in Christ’s prophetic mission as catechists. May we too be open to the universal call to service that Christ addresses to all of his disciples, contributing our gifts to the communion of faith, the Church. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

With gratitude to the MANY who support the children and youth at St. James and St. Patrick. You enable us to GROW the Word of God at our parish. We are blessed to have over 60 individuals who teach & aide more than 350 students. This is a remarkable thing and a ministry of great

LOVE and

DEDICATION.

May God bless you abundantly for your service.

Amen!
