Dear Parishioners and Friends of Saint Teresa Church, Every Tuesday at 4pm, our Conran Hall gymnasium is filled with 400 students in grades 1 to 8 who come to us for their religious education program, which is under the great leadership of our Coordinator Mrs. Lisa Rametta. She has the help of more than a dozen adult and teen Catechists. "Catechist" is the special title for religion teachers, who give "catechesis" - instruction in the elements of Christianity to those preparing for sacraments. As they gather in the gym with the catechists and some parents, the children have the opportunity to talk, min-gle, and run around a little to use up their energy. Then they line up with their class and we begin with prayers. After I lead the Sign of the Cross and the Our Father and the Hail Mary, we conclude this way. I say, SAINT TERESA, and they shake the walls with their response: PRAY FOR US! I am sure that Saint Teresa was praying for us last weekend, and in fact throughout our nine months of plan-ning, for the beautiful and very enjoyable SAINT TERESA PARISH BENEFIT LUNCHEON last Sunday at Li-Greci's Staaten Restaurant. Intended to be a community-building affair, we were very pleased that so many parishioners and friends wanted to come. As you know, we were honoring our former Religious Education Coordinator, Mrs. Denise Enright; our sports program leader Mr. John Tuohy; a wise legal advisor Mr. Robert Scamardella; and an outstanding apostle who rallies thousands to feed the hungry, Mr. Joseph Delaney. All of this was the inspiration of past and present members of our Parish Finance Council, whose task is to help us be good stewards of our parish resources - John Lauria, Charlie LaGanga, Michelle King, Anthony DeFazio, Jo-seph Granello, Ginevra Porcelli, and Nicholas Caruselle. My thanks to them, especially to John and Charlie as Co-Chairs, and to the many hard-working volunteers - Stephanie and Jon Byrne, Joe Patella, Rich Nellis, Theresa Perera, Angela, Melissa, Bob, and Nick Tronolone, Ann Cuneo, Janet Scaffa, Frank Schiano, EJ LaGanga, Joe Gra-nello, Lynn Randle, and Tony DeFazio - who were all very creative and careful in handling all the details that made Sunday so special. Each element of the party contributed to a beneficial financial result that will help our parish. Many thanks to all of you who supported this effort and contributed to our success! 269 people were in attendance, a number which exceeded our expectations. The profit for our parish - from ticket sales, journal ads, boosters, donations, raffle bas-kets, and 50/50 drawing - was over $19,500! This new event was a beautiful experience for all of us and a benefit for our parish. We look forward to having many of our happy guests, along with other parishioners, join us for next year's festivities in honor of our Saint Teresa of the Infant Jesus. On a much more somber subject, let me recall that at last Sunday's Masses we followed the request of Cardinal Dolan to show a video message from him, with Judge Barbara Jones and two Sisters, about the sex abuse crisis that is weighing so heavily on our spirits, and which will be in our minds for a long time to come. In the pews last week, and even today, you can take home a four page folder of information that I think is important. If you missed the video, it is posted on this website: https://archny.org/news/transparency-accountability-and-action. Let me conclude with this request from His Eminence that ties together all that we are talking about today. "Please remind your people that no money collected for Renew and Rebuild, or for that matter, from the Cardinal's Annual Stewardship Appeal or from any of our charitable, educational, emergency relief, or missionary collections, goes to the costs of settlements with victims. As I publicized many times, like any family in an emergency, we took a loan. We will pay it off with interest from rental on property and investments. (By the way, if the statute of limita-tion fails, the above protections of our peoples' offerings will indeed be in jeopardy)." Saint Teresa - and Saint Michael the Archangel - pray for us! Msgr. William Belford

PRAYER FOR THIS WEEK That we remember the strong Gospel warning of Jesus against harming little ones, who need
him so much, and that no one should cause oth-ers to lose faith in God or hope for salvation, let
us pray to the Lord...
The winners of our September 50/50 Drawing was: Mr.& Mrs. Estimada. The prize was $285. If you would like to participate in this monthly activity that benefits our parish and makes people happy,
look for the 50/50 envelopes in the vestibule. The next drawing will be at the end of October.
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY Next weekend, we will celebrate World Mission Sun-day. Pope Francis invites the entire Church to support the mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and parts of Latin America and Europe, where priests, religious and lay leaders serve the world’s most vulner-able communities. Please keep the Pope’s missions in your prayers, and be generous in next week’s collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.

PRAYERS FOR VOTERS AND FOR PEACE
Deacon Jim Stahlnecker is encouraging people to pray for many voters to come out to vote in the mid-term elections on Tuesday, November 6. Important deci-sions will be made by the Senators, Representatives and state and local officials who take office in the new
year. We all ought to pray for our country, make in-formed decisions, and exercise our right to vote.
Deacon is associated with the Perpetual Eucharistic
Adoration Apostolate of Staten Island, located near us at St. Pauls / Alba House, 2187 Victory Boulevard. In the chapel 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, there is adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. One or more people, called adorers, are always present. New
adorers are welcome. Give yourself a peaceful Eucharistic experience by going for a visit this week
ARE YOU READY FOR A CHANGE?
If you are planning some time away, please consider signing up now to provide your weekly donation
electronically when you’re away. It’s easy to do and makes a big difference for our parish. Besides us
receiving your contributions each Sunday, this saves you preparing those envelopes. It also saves us
money printing and distributing them!
