The Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take place next week. One way that this appeal works to support home mission dioceses in the United States is by support-ing seminarian formation in poor dioceses. The blessing of seminarians places a financial burden on these dioces-es, because educating each seminarian costs $35-40K per year. Your support is needed for these young men so that they might go back and serve their parishes. Please strengthen the Church at home by making a generous gift to next week’s appeal. St. Bernard parishioners; there is a special envelope in your packet of Sunday offering envelopes. Extra envelopes can be found in the pews.

"Lord Jesus Christ You satisfy the deepest longings of our hearts and you feed us with the gifts of finest wheat." Psalm 81:16

Give us hearts that share freely. STEWARDSHIP~ A WAY OF LIFE, LIVE IT!!!

[Jesus] went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them. Luke 2:51

Dear Parishioners,

Jesus grew up in a home in Nazareth with Joseph and Mary. God, in the Person of Jesus, chose to live in a family. What dignity the family has! What challenges it faces!

Outside of Sunday Mass a major way St. Bernard and Ascension support the precious and fragile gift of the family is through our faith formation program. As we prepare the challenging work of combining into one program I encourage us to beseech God’s assistance through prayer.

The first Saturdays from May through October we will have an 8am Mass with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament along with the Rosary and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. I invite all parishioners—all faith formation families to come to pray for our faith for-mation program and the strengthening of our fami-lies. This will be the intention of these 1st Saturday Masses.

The family that prays together stays together. Alt-hough there are no guarantees, family prayer solidi-fies familial bonds, puts God at the center, and opens the door to forgiveness when we hurt one an-other. Let’s all ask ourselves: does my family need God’s help? If our answer is “yes,” let’s consider making the sacrifice to come to one, two or more of these Masses. We can even tell our family we’re coming to these Masses to strengthen our families! May through July the Mass will be at Ascension and August through October it will be at St. Bernard. Here is the tentative schedule: 7:25am Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

7:30am Rosary/adoration and individual Confes-sions

7:50am Confessions ends

8:00am Mass

Please note that this Mass does not fulfill our Sun-day opportunity.…’er, obligation.

Yours in Jesus, Joseph and Mary,

Fr. Gregory

Would you like to serve the Lord by assisting with Mass preparation? We are in need of Sacristans (especially for the Saturday evening Mass). The roll of the Sacristan is to prepare the church environment, mark the liturgical books for the ap-propriate readings and prepare the Eucharistic vessels be-fore each liturgy. The willingness to serve behind the scenes and reverence for handling sacred vessels are neces-sary for carrying out this role. Sacristans should arrive at church 30 minutes prior to the start of Mass and will need to stay 5-10 minutes after Mass to store the Eucharistic ves-sels. Training will be provided. If you would like more information or are interested in serving in this roll, please contact Sherry Witte at 612-419-2360 or email [email protected] .

port I’ve received from many of you over the years, as well as the opportunities to share in your

RESPECT LIFE GROUP Respect for Life Group would like to thank everyone that donated, attended, and help with the Spring Luncheon. Bill Poehler spoke on issues of life and reasons of why we need

to vote Pro Life, with concerns of the sick, special needs, and aging population. We are at a time where issues have moved from not just abortions but life concerns of the sick and old.

Please consider joining our group. Our next meeting Thursday, April 21 at 6:30 in the church basement.
