SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

Family Perspective: Today Jesus gives this advice: “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” Worry and anxiety can consume our lives preventing us from seeing the love which surrounds us and binds us to one another.

Marriage Moments: Trip down Memory Lane #14 - Remember your first long trip together - either for fun, to meet each other's family, or even a funeral. What did you like about making travel plans together? What was a stress because of your differences? What have you learned?

Thought for the week… “It is useful to not confuse optimism with hope. Optimism is a psychological attitude towards life. Hope goes beyond. It is the anchor that you throw into the future and lets you pull the rope to get to what you crave.”

Questions for the week: In the Gospel today, Jesus offers a prayer for unity. He prays that we may be one as “you, Father, are in me and I in you!” Jesus was praying not for the abandonment of differences, but for those with differences to get along. His prayer was for new connections, new ways of dismantling the barriers between us, new ways of promoting harmony amid diversity. What would be some examples of personal contact playing a vital role in bringing “enemies” together? What would you list as some of the main feeders of disunity, some main barriers to unity? Besides personal contact, what would be some other means of promoting our getting along?
