Eight Sunday in Ordinary Time All of Today’s readings remind us that our works reflect what is in our hearts. Do my words and actions reveal a heart that is grateful for — and generous in sharing — the abundance God has poured into my life?

“…the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit…” Rom 5:5 The love of God we hear about in today’s reading brings a peace which is not attainable through any other means. Through God we find rest, healing and joy – even amidst crisis. The more open our hearts are the more God can fill them with love. We are called to make love the center of our family life.

Memorial Day Weekend The upcoming Memorial Day weekend is the first major patriotic weekend of the year. There will be ceremonies in many locations including a special tribute at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney. The Memorial service begins at 10am on Monday, May 27. The St. Michael Society at St. Mark is sponsoring a Memorial Mass on Monday, May 27 at 7pm. Please plan to attend and pray for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. Members of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Color Corps will be in attendance at both ceremonies. There is a special ceremony at the DFW National Cemetery also on Monday, May 27 at which select members from the Third Texas District will take part. Three members of that team are from our Assembly.
Election of Officers Election of Officers will take place at our June business meeting. If you are a 3rd or 4th degree Knight and are interested in running for office to help guide our council for the next year, please contact one of the trustees and make him aware of your wishes. The installation of the new officers for the 2013 – 2014 fraternal year will be June 15.
Safe Environment Training The Knights are sponsoring a Safe Environment Training session for Thursday, June 6, at 6pm in McGivney Hall. All Knights and other parish volunteers who have not received this training, or are in need of retraining, are invited to attend. The session will last approximately one hour. Monthly Prayer Service The Knights of Columbus and the Ladies Auxiliary are sponsoring a monthly Prayer Service in the Chapel on Thursday, June 13, for all parishioners and their families or friends who are in need of prayer. This Prayer Service, which is scheduled for the second Thursday of every month, will begin at 7pm. All parishioners are invited to participate.

For more information about the organization, the website is www.computersfortheblind.net. Please do NOT leave any used computer equipment in the church Narthex.
Flags and Electronics Recycling for Special Olympics Unserviceable flags continue to be collected in the flag box which is now located inside the Usher’s Room at the rear of the old Narthex. Used cell phones, inkjet cartridges, digital cameras, camcorders, and hand held electronic games can also be placed in this box. The flags will be disposed of in a proper manner. All electronic equipment will be recycled by an environmentally responsible company and the proceeds from the recycling will be donated to Special Olympics. Special Note: If you see a flag on a business establishment that is in need of replacement, please talk with the store manager, thank him for flying the Stars and Stripes, and ask that the unserviceable flag be replaced and given to you. You should then place the flag into the flag box identified above. The flag is the symbol of our nation and it is important that it be displayed and maintained properly.
