    • You have the right to a safe workplace. The Occupational Safety and

    Health Act of 197 !OSHAct" was passed to prevent workers fro#

     $eing killed or seriously har#ed at work.

    • The law re%uires that e#ployers provide their e#ployees withworking conditions that are free of known dangers. The Act created

    the Occupational Safety and Health Ad#inistration !OSHA"& which

    sets and enforces protective workplace safety and health standards.

    OSHA also provides infor#ation& training and assistance to workers

    and e#ployers.

    • 'orkers #ay file a co#plaint to have OSHA inspect their workplace

    if they $elieve that their e#ployer is not following OSHA standards or

    there are serious ha(ards.

    Confined Spaces

    • OSHA esti#ates that a$out 33& esta$lish#ents have

     per#it spaces+ 7.3 #illion production workers are

    e#ployed at these esta$lish#ents and a$out 3.1 #illion

    workers enter per#it spaces annually.• OSHA anticipates that co#pliance with these regulations
