Ministry Meetings

Catholic Ladies Relief Society Meeting

Our Catholic Ladies Relief Society meeting is on

Wednesday, March 14th. We will be visiting St

Thomas School so assemble at the school office at

12:30 pm. The regular business meeting will

commence on our return to the parish office library.

ALTAR SOCIETY MEETING THIS WEEK

The Altar Society will meet on Tuesday, March 13 at 1:00

p.m. in the Community Center. There will be a

discussion regarding preparation of the church

environment for Holy Week and Easter. As in previous

years, all parishioners will be invited to bring Easter lily

plants that the society members will use to decorate the

sanctuary; look for details in next week’s bulletin. The

Altar Society members welcome all interested

parishioners to join us at the meeting on Tuesday; new

members are most welcome. We wish all of our parish

family a blessed Lent as we anticipate the joyous

celebration of Easter

Soup and Stations

Every Friday during Lent, there will be Soup and Stations of the Cross. Soup will be serve at 6:00 pm and the Stations of the Cross will be at 6:45.

Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner

The Knights of Columbus is holding their annual St. Patrick's Day Corned Beef Dinner on Saturday evening, March 17th, from 5:30 to 9:00ish, with dinner being served at 6:30 PM. Tickets are only $10 for adults and $7 for children (5-11 yrs).

Tickets can be purchased at Brigg's Firestone, Marcozzi's Jewelers, St.Thomas School Office, between Masses, and at the door (if not sold out). If you have any questions, call Chris Martin at 370-6409 or Greg Bates at 353-9798.

FOOD DRIVE.

We will once again start collecting non-perishable food items for The Salvation Army’s pantry here in Oroville. We will start the first weekend in March and go thru the month of April. Since this is a time for fasting, praying, and alms giving, here is a way to give to the hungry in our community. Thank you for your generosity and may God bless you and yours during this time of reflection.

Oroville Hunger Walk

Saturday, March 17th is the date for this annual event sponsored by the Cooperating Christian Churches of Oroville to raise awareness and funds to help feed the hungry. 100% of the funds raised will be equally shared by the Oroville Rescue Mission, Feed the People Ministries, the Salvation Army and the Hope Center. Meet at Riverbend Park at 8:30 am, sign up at the registration table, the walk begins at 9:00 am following a course through downtown Oroville and returning to the park. If you can't walk that far, no worry, do what you can. Coffee and water will be available. Sponsorship forms and receipts for your sponsors are available in our parish office. If you would like to make a donation to support this event, please make your check payable to the Cooperating Christian Churches of Oroville "CCCO" and mail it to P. O. Box 1254, Oroville Ca. 95965 referencing Oroville Hunger Walk. Information: Call 533-2483, the office of First Congregational Church. Your donations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Stations with the School

During Lent St. Thomas School will be having Stations of

the Cross every Monday, except March 5th. Stations will

begin at 10:30am in the Church. Please join us.

Divine Mercy Novena

March 30th Good Friday, The Novena to the Divine Mercy begins here in the church. The novena ends Saturday April 7th. The Divine Mercy Novena and Chaplet brochures will be passed out in the church at 3 PM Good Friday March 30th. Continue to recite the Novena daily and Saturday April 7th, go to confession in preparation for Mass to be celebrated on April 8th, which is Divine Mercy Sunday. Pennance Service

Our Penance Service this year, will be on the evening of March 14th. It will start at 6:30 PM.

Coffee Hour

Coffee Hour is held in Fitzgerald Hall on Sundays follow-ing the 8:15 AM mass. This week is hosted by Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors. Next week join the Knights of Columbus for a Pancake Breakfast.

Thursday Enrichment Program

Thursday Morning Enrichment takes place every week at 10AM in the Community Center. It is a chance to join with others in our St. Thomas family and support each other in growing in our faith.

St. Thomas the Apostle School is looking for Math and Reading tutors for ALL grade levels. If you are interested in volunteering to tutor our students please call the school office at 534-6969.

29th Annual Caring for Women All You Can Eat Omelet

Breakfast

The breakfast will be held at the Oroville Evangelical Free Church on Saturday, March 3rd from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Breakfast includes a ham & cheese omelet, hash browns, biscuits, and a drink. Children have their choice of an omelet or pancakes Tickets can be purchased in advance at Caring for Women, 2362 Lincoln Street, at the door or in our parish office which is open Tuesday-Friday from 9:00 to 12:00 Noon. Save a dollar by purchasing tickets in advance! For more information call 533-8388. All proceeds help women and children in our area.

HELP NEEDED: Omelet Breakfast and Walk for Life 2018

Help is needed for both of these fund-raisers, the success of which help pay the rent and keep the doors to the Center open. This year's Walk for Life is on May 5th. There are many opportunities to work at both events, call the center 533-8388 if you have time to donate for one or both.
