Thanks and Appreciation! The people of St Thomas, together with surrounding community organizations, filled and delivered the trailer to Louisiana. Thanks to your generosity and intentional discipleship in contributing your time, money and purchased goods, our brothers and sisters in neighboring Louisiana experienced a measure of relief from the devastation caused by hurricane Laura. Thank you to all who organized this massive effort, those who accepted donations and loaded the truck. Thanks to those who volunteered to drive and unload the truck in Louisiana. Your efforts are appreciated by all, especially our western neighbors who are trying to recover from their losses and rebuild their lives.
The Need Continues! FOR HURRICANE LAURA RELIEF EFFORTS St. Thomas Church is looking for volunteers! We will be putting together teams of both skilled and unskilled volunteers to help with debris removal and home repair in the Lake Charles/Iowa, Louisiana areas. Several trips will be planned in the coming weeks. If you can spend a couple of days to aid our neighbors to the west in their recovery, please contact Juliane Wyatt (St. Thomas Evangelization Team) at 859-750-8951 or [email protected].
Jesus must have shocked the priests and elders when he said that prostitutes and tax collectors would enter the kingdom of God before them. After all, his listeners had spent their whole lives being faithful to the Law. But Jesus' point was not so much about final salvation as about our daily choices. Remember the parable about the two sons. The second son said what his father wanted to hear, with no intention of doing it. The first was honest about not wanting to go to the vineyard, but then decided to do it anyway. I suspect the father of those men knew what each would or would not do. And whom do we want to imitate? Are we honest enough to look at our lives and repent of our hatred, our selfishness, or whatever keeps us in sin, and then to follow Jesus with our whole heart? We may not always like doing what God asks of us, but God is an understanding Father who can accept our weaknesses and forgive them when we are ready to return to him. Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co.

I hope all of you are keeping well. It has been a while since I communicated with you. I have moved into my permanent home now in Athenry Co. Galway. I hope this will be my last move. We have Mass here in the parish church everyday followed by rosary, followed by Adoration. The church is beside the convent and the school is around the corner from us. I am trying to get used to this place and learn the history of the place. It takes time, as I was never at this side of the country before. I think I am adjusting well as the 8 sisters here are so kind and helpful to me. I learn new things every day. I will never forget you all at St. Thomas Parish. Give my love to all.
