Did you know? What is Lent? The forty days before the Passion Death and Resurrection of Jesus. Based on the for-ty years that the Israelites walked through the de-sert and the forty days with which Jesus was tempted. The three pillars of Lent are: 1. Prayer: living in close proximity and dia-logue, uniting ourselves from the heart to Christ; joining his sacrifice on the Cross. 2. Fasting and Abstinence: both are prac-ticed on Ash Wednesday, on Good Friday and absti-nence is practiced every Friday of Lent. Sick, the elderly and children are not obligated. 3. Sabía Usted? ¿Qué es la Cuaresma? Son los cuarenta días antes de la Pasión Muerte y Resurrección de Jesús. La Oración: vivir en cercanía y dialogo, uniéndonos de corazón a Cristo; uniéndonos a su sacrificio en la Cruz. 2. Ayuno y Abstinencia: ambos se practican en Miércoles de Ceniza, los el Viernes Santo y la abstinencia se practica todos los Viernes de Cuares-ma. Las personas enfermas y mayores no están obligados, al igual que los niños. 3. Limosna: dar lo que tenemos nos ayuda a unirnos a la entrega generosa de Cristo en la Cruz por todos nosotros.
